Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 785: Chapter 595: The Sound No Longer Distracts the Zombies?

Big Camphor Tree Base.

Inner City.

Li Yu quietly watched the black snowflakes fluttering outside his window from his room.

The continuous snowfall, at the base, had led to the accumulation of twenty to thirty centimeters of snow on the ground.

Every day, people would go out to clear the paths on pedestrian walkways.

Li Yu sat down slowly in his room, the cup in his hand still steaming hot.

The wind outside continued to blow, driving the snowflakes to fall into some corners.

During these days, he would meditate in the basement’s quiet room almost every few days to adjust his depressed mood.

The night exerts a great influence on people.

Today, Li Tie, Li Hang, and a few others are on duty at the perimeter wall.

The zombies below the wall never disappeared; the Mobile Switch Blade was like a machine that regularly cleared the zombies, activating every so often, then slashing some zombies to death, these slain zombies would immediately be devoured by others.

This period was when the pressure on those on wall duty was the least.

Lately, the sounds of insects and birds have hardly been heard.

Li Tie, Li Hang, and Liu Jinglue took turns shooting zombies with Crossbows outside the guard room by the main gate, competing in a small contest.

They adopted ten zombies per turn to see whose hit rate was the highest.

”Brother Tie, Brother Hang, you go ahead, I’m going back to the duty room for a drink of water,” Liu Jinglue told the two.

They nodded, indicating it was okay.

Liu Jinglue, carrying his Crossbow, walked towards the duty room.

The heater was on in the duty room; a wave of heat hit him as soon as he entered.

Liu Jinglue shook off the snow on his body at the door—he didn’t want to bring the snow into the duty room, which would be a hassle to clean later.

He hung his hat in its usual spot near the door, walked over to the water dispenser, pulled out his insulated cup, unscrewed the lid, checked the still warm water, blew on it, and took a sip.

His eyes casually scanned the monitoring screen.

Hmm?

Outside the base, several surveillance cameras had been installed on both sides of the national highway.

The monitor showed a dense mass of zombies slowly walking.

Pfft—

Liu Jinglue spat out the water he had just taken into his mouth.

Immediately, he set his insulated cup down and rushed to the door of the duty room, shouting to Li Tie and the others, ”Quick, come here, I’ve spotted something.”

Li Tie had just shot an arrow and asked in confusion, ”What?”

At the same time, he put down his Crossbow and walked with Li Hang toward the duty room.

Inside the duty room.

The three men’s eyes widened as they stared at the zombies on the monitor.

In the past, some zombies would come, but never in such large numbers.

The entire national highway was filled with zombies, and the end was nowhere in sight.

Some zombies sniffed the air and headed straight towards the rural roads, and more and more zombies seemed to smell the scent of humans, gradually converging in this direction.

”Xiao Hang, hit the alert button,” Li Tie ordered without hesitation.

Then he grabbed the radio to inform the others.

Throughout the Big Camphor Tree Base, figures moved hastily, many people running out of their rooms, heading towards the perimeter walls.

Upon hearing Li Tie’s alert, Li Yu immediately donned his protective gear and rushed to the perimeter wall.

On his way to the wall, he encountered Dapao.

Dapao was without his hat, which was tucked under his arm; he was pulling on a raincoat as he sprinted towards the perimeter wall.

Seeing Li Yu, who had also charged out of his room, Dapao said, ”Brother Yu, do you know what’s going on? I was just asleep when I heard the alarm.”

As Li Yu ran, he replied, ”A Zombie Tide has erupted! This one seems pretty massive.”

His brows were furrowed with gravity. According to what Li Tie had just said, the entire national highway was filled to the brim, sightless of any endpoint—the number must be terrifying.

As they reached the stairs of Weng City, Li Yu and Dapao could already hear the roaring of zombies.

It echoed through the sky.

The two exchanged a shocked glance.

Climbing atop the wall, Li Yu peered through his telescope towards the outside.

In the dim night, he could see a massive horde of zombies swarming in from the forest.

The roar was unrelenting.

Li Tie hurried over to Li Yu when he arrived, ”Big brother, I don’t know what happened; these zombies just suddenly appeared, very abruptly.”

Li Yu nodded slightly, seeing the sudden surge of zombies below the wall, a strong sense of oppression overcame him.

Seeing the people steadily joining them atop the wall, Li Yu shouted, ”Everyone, prepare to resist the zombies. Do not let a single zombie enter through the wall.”

Everyone had faced Zombie Tides before; although they had never encountered one this large, the wall back then hadn’t been this high either.

Hoarse roars—

The zombies below the wall were highly sensitive, even using the ones in the forefront as stepping stones to surge forward.

In just a few minutes, the zombies under the wall resembled a disturbed hornet’s nest—teeming everywhere.

There was a six to seven-meter-deep trench outside the wall that was instantly filled by zombies.

From the wall to the forest, there was a distance of forty to fifty meters, tightly packed with zombies—like sardines—with not a sliver of space.

More terrifying still, beyond these, the end still could not be seen.

These zombies continuously surged towards other directions of the wall as well.

Witnessing this scene, Li Yu felt a pang of terror in his heart, then ordered everyone to take out heavy weapons and stand guard firmly.
