Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 752: Chapter 582: Big Corpse Spreading Method [Thanks to the generous reward from jason-g]

Big Camphor Tree Base.

The sky was gloomy, with a fine acid rain drifting through the air, and smoke swirling around the trees, filling the air with a sinister atmosphere.

Zombies kept emerging from the forest, their bodies ragged and their eyes dull as they ran forward crazily.

Their mouths opened to emit a deep, hoarse roar, a sound that was chilling to hear.

The acid rain had been falling for four consecutive days.

It had been ten days since the volcanic eruption.

The sky had been dark for nine days.

Midnight, 12 AM.

Gate duty room.

Li Yu shook off the water stains on his protective raincoat and walked slowly into the room, seeing Uncle come over to take over the shift.

Li Yu spoke up, ”The height of the accumulated zombies has dropped below six meters again. In about two hours, it will reach about ten meters. Then, Uncle, you can open the Mobile Switch Blade.”

Uncle nodded, then put on a protective raincoat and prepared to go out for a patrol.

The recent days of acid rain had brought an increasingly fierce Zombie Tide, and eventually, many zombies reached this remote location.

This was all because of the attraction of a population of one or two thousand people inside the base.

In the apocalypse, the greater the number of people gathered, the more zombies it would attract.

This was inevitable.

In the whole Xin City, there were not many survivors.

Moreover, a large part had joined forces with Big Camphor Tree Base, so most of the people had come to the Outer City for refuge.

Before the apocalypse, Xin City had a population of over a million.

But now, there were only a few thousand people left in Xin City.

Xin City was like this, and other places were much the same, or even worse.

Li Yu had started his shift at 2 PM today. Besides him, there were Yutong, Li Hang, and Li Zhengping in the gate duty room.

After the last high temperature, the zombies’ skin changed, not only able to withstand high temperatures but also became tougher.

And in the acid rain, these zombies showed an exceptionally rare level of excitement.

In the darkness, under the acid rain.

The zombies’ speed, strength, and agility all compounded into an extremely terrifying state.

Therefore.

This afternoon, around 5 PM, the Zombie Tide at one point reached a height of twelve meters.

The entire pile of zombies formed a sixty-degree angle, rising steadily from the lower parts of the mountain forest.

Li Yu and the others, because of the acid rain, rarely stepped out of the duty room.

But nearly every few minutes, someone would take turns going out to inspect the situation of the Zombie Tide.

In addition, others were also constantly watching the situation on the surveillance cameras.

At around 5 PM, the accumulated Zombie Tide finally climbed to a higher level, becoming faster and faster.

Li Yu made a quick decision and immediately opened the Mobile Switch Blade button at the gate.

The sharp Mobile Switch Blade mercilessly chopped the bodies of the zombies horizontally.

Li Yu set the speed of the Mobile Switch Blade to the fastest, causing a whooshing sound as it moved swiftly.

The zombies that climbed to the highest point were like a bunch of straw being mercilessly reaped by a scythe.

The zombies at the very top were directly cut in half by the Mobile Switch Blade, and as they fell, they were again cut by other blades at lower levels.

The bodies of the zombies at the highest point were cut into seven or eight pieces by the Mobile Switch Blade, blood mist splattering.

These zombies, although extremely strong and frenzied in the dark acid rain, also had one characteristic.

They would eat their own kind.

The bodies of the slain zombies that fell down instantly attracted other climbing zombies.

The small triangle of accumulated Zombie Tide instantly collapsed, all scrambling to devour the bodies of the dead zombies.

The scene of zombies devouring zombie bodies was extremely bloody and primal.

Li Yu felt somewhat relieved.

These acid rain zombies, if they did not eat their own kind, then just those accumulated bodies would be a big problem.

They might even have to use diesel to burn and clear them away.

That would be somewhat wasteful.

Outside the walls, it was frantic and rampant.

This scene was somewhat reminiscent of the scenes in World War Z.

It made one’s scalp tingle watching it.

Li Yu felt somewhat exhausted. Today, he had walked around the walls twice and activated the Mobile Switch Blade twice.

At the gate of Big Camphor Tree Base, there were the most zombies.

There was no other reason, outside the gate_was a road, outside the road was a village road, and the village road connected to the national highway.

The zombies that usually came from the outside were in groups, and they all walked on the main road.

Therefore, the side of the gate facing the road had the most zombies and the greatest pressure.

To the east of Big Camphor Tree Base, not far away, was a steep cliff, so there were hardly any zombies appearing from that side.

The other areas were also full of dense forests and hills, so the zombies coming from these areas were not in large groups.

Previously, to reduce the pressure at the gate, they had even led zombies from below the gate to other walls.

After handing over everything to Uncle, filling out the log, Li Yu and Yutong left the gate duty room.

The group left the gate duty room, replaced by Uncle, Li Tie, Yang Tianlong, and Father Li.

After Li Yu went down from the walls, he tightened his rain hood, trying his best to prevent acid rain from drifting onto his head.

The sound of the rain was quite pleasant.

But in the apocalypse, it also meant danger.

Li Yu briefly said goodbye to Yutong. He was truly exhausted today and had no energy left for other things. He just wanted to go back to his room and rest well.

He dragged his tired body back to the villa.

He hung his raincoat under the eaves close to the wall on the first floor, allowing it to drip and air dry naturally.

His body was sticky and smelly, with a sour stench.

He changed into a pair of slippers on the first floor and clattered upstairs.

When he reached his room, he closed the door.

Then he took off his clothes, turned on the light, and walked naked to the shower room.

Inside the base, there were 6000 tons of water.

In the Second Outer City_area, water was limited to 5 tons per day, in the First Outer City_15 tons per day.

In the Inner City, water was limited to 30 tons per day.

Li Yu turned on the shower head, let the water run for three seconds to wet his body, then applied shampoo to his hair, followed by some body wash.

After scrubbing two or three times, he turned on the shower head again.

He washed his body as quickly as possible, spending less than a minute in total.

The speed of washing was fast, but it was mostly clean.

The bathwater would be diverted to the plantation as irrigation water.

After the hot shower, Li Yu felt rejuvenated.

The sticky and sour-smelling body was now mostly odor-free.

Acid rain could contaminate the body over time, causing a sour smell.

The miraculously refreshed Li Yu glanced at the time, 12:30 PM.

This meant he had 15 hours and 30 minutes to rest freely.

Of course, if there was an issue on the base walls, he would have to go immediately.

He hoped that nothing else would happen.

Li Yu muttered to himself.

He had dealt with many issues in recent days.

Yesterday, during his rest, due to an electrical issue in the Second Outer City, he had to rush over with a team during his break.

The day before yesterday, during his rest, the cold storage stopped working due to acid rain corrosion, forcing him to use all his rest time to deal with it.

Because of this acid rain, they urgently installed shields on both the internal and external cameras to protect them.

Although others were handling these tasks, Li Yu still needed to be on site. It wasn’t that he didn’t trust others to manage, but in such extremely dangerous times, he couldn’t just ignore the issues; he needed to see for himself to be reassured.

In short, he had hardly had a proper rest for the past two days.

Today, finally, there were no issues.

Feeling a bit thirsty, he took a beer from the fridge.

Wearing his loose home clothes, he still felt a bit cold.

The outdoor temperature had already dropped to about ten degrees.

Listening to the continuous rain, Li Yu took a sip of beer and walked to the balcony in his slippers.

He cracked the balcony window open slightly, less than twenty centimeters wide.

Li Yu pulled out a cigarette from the desktop, lit it.

In the glow of the cigarette’s ember, the white smoke rose.

Li Yu took a puff and slowly exhaled.

His body relaxed significantly, then he covered himself with a blanket from the rattan chair, quietly watching the darkness outside the window.

The night rain was blurred.

Li Yu smoked, seemingly forgetting the time.

He wasn’t hungry, just his muscles were a bit sore.

The freshly washed hair, which had felt refreshing when dry, now felt achy again.

He hadn’t rested well these past days.

After finishing his cigarette, Li Yu rinsed his mouth briefly and drank some water.

Dragging his weary body, he climbed into bed.

The outdoor temperature was ten degrees, the indoor temperature just under fifteen degrees.

Li Yu covered himself with a warm blanket, relaxing completely.

His eyelids slowly drooped.

He imagined himself as a corpse.

Lying perfectly flat on the bed, arms slightly away from his thighs, palms facing up.

With his eyes closed, after lying down, he positioned his legs apart enough to relax the hip joints.

Li Yu started with deep breaths.

Then, his breathing slowed, without any vigorous movements to disturb the spine and body.

Soon, his jaw relaxed.

With his tongue quietly resting, even the pupils of his closed eyes were completely still.

....

This was a relaxation method Li Yu had learned about before.

The Big Corpse Spreading Method.

It helped him reduce muscle tension throughout the body and relax his mind and spirit.

It allowed his body, thoughts, and spirit to be reintegrated.

And this method was actually a form of meditation.

Whether in the fast-paced life before the apocalypse or in the high-pressure post-apocalyptic world, the Corpse Pose was actually a very good antidote.

The Corpse Pose could help him relax his body, calm his mind, keep his body and mind youthful and vibrant. It also allowed one to enter a restful meditative state, aiding in cell repair and stress release.

But, for him at the moment, it was the best way to enter a state of sleep.

With elongated, gentle breaths, Li Yu fell asleep within minutes.

...

This sleep was very comfortable for Li Yu.

He slept until nine o’clock in the morning.

There were no interruptions, and he woke up without any back pain or soreness.

He felt fully rested, refreshed, and at his peak.

Feeling a bit hungry, Li Yu dressed and headed downstairs.

Just as he reached the first floor of the villa, he heard He Chao’s voice through the intercom.

There’s trouble in the Second Outer City! Someone is causing trouble!

Li Yu patiently listened to He Chao’s feedback; Uncle had already taken people to check the situation.

The situation wasn’t too severe—it was undoubtedly people who had been in their rooms too long, bored and revealing their true natures.

He felt a bit angry and wanted to rush over immediately.

But he suddenly stopped, thinking that he should let others in the base take on more responsibility and burdens.

That way, if he ever needed to be away from the base, they could handle things themselves.

With that thought, Li Yu no longer hurried and leisurely continued to breakfast in the cafeteria.

After breakfast, he then dressed in a protective raincoat and slowly made his way to the Second Outer City.

However, when he arrived in the Second Outer City, what he saw there sparked a surge of killing intent!

——

Dear lords, rest well and sleep soundly!

Rise with vigor!
