Chapter 788: Chapter 596: Zombies Slaughter the City, The Snow Stops (7/7, Three in One, Asking for Monthly Tickets)_2

Li Yu had Third Uncle and Uncle spread out to both sides to intercept the zombies.

At the main gate.

The land outside the perimeter wall had turned hard and compacted.

The black snow had long since melted.

Volcanic ash lay on the ground, where zombie bones were embedded in the mud, trampled repeatedly by the zombies until they were set into the soil.

The ground was charred black.

Within the walls, the ground was littered with spent bullet casings.

Everyone was fighting in a frenzied state.

The forest had also been set ablaze, with the red glow of the fire revealing the situation outside the base clearly.

Li Yu’s hands were shaking slightly as he scooped up some snow and placed it on the barrel of the heavy machine gun.

Hiss-hiss-hiss—

The red-hot barrel of the heavy machine gun instantly melted the black snow.

He caught his breath for a few seconds, only to see more zombies charging from the woods.

”Damn, will they ever stop coming!” cursed Li Yu.

Beside him, even Yang Xiaozhu had joined in.

She held a gun, continuously firing bursts at the zombies beneath the perimeter wall.

Next to her, Lai Dongsheng was even holding a rocket launcher, aiming at the area with the densest zombie crowd and firing a shell.

Li Yu called over Song Qi and Little Fatty to take out the base of the mortar.

Song Qi, with his face grimy, was surprised to see the mortar, eager to try.

Li Yu asked him, ”Want to learn?”

”Yes.”

”I’ll teach you.” Li Yu expertly loaded the bomb, then quickly explained the process to Song Qi before firing it off.

Boom—

The shell flew several hundred meters out.

Landing on the country road.

The forest beyond the road that connected to the base had been burned to only black sticks remaining.

Sometimes when the zombies charged, these charred sticks would get knocked down.

After firing the shell.

The roar was loud, turning the heads of Third Uncle and others in different directions.

”They’re using mortars at the gate?” Uncle exclaimed in shock.

After that, he continued firing at the zombies outside the wall.

The gunfire was dense, attracting even more zombies.

But without firearms, they simply couldn’t withstand the impact of these zombies.

Unable to fend off the zombies, they had to use guns, which in turn drew more zombies.

Now, amidst a zombie tide of hundreds of thousands, it was impossible to avoid the zombies due to their sheer numbers.

Drones were almost no longer in use.

The tide of hundreds of thousands of zombies covered several square kilometers.

The zombies’ sense of smell, enhanced by the dark night and the acid snow, easily located the position of the Big Camphor Tree Base.

There was only the option for brute force battles!

They could only face the challenge head-on!

Yutong brought another box of bullets up from the warehouse, and Teacher Liu, responsible for education, helped to load the bullets into the magazines.

Wang Cheng braced the light machine gun on the battlement, its muzzle flash unceasing.

The skies above the Big Camphor Tree Base were clouded with swirls of black and white smoke.

The air was thick with the smell of charred flesh and the odor of gunpowder.

....

Dapao was on the west side, his lips white and hair in disarray, firing a light machine gun at the zombies outside.

The continuous shooting, the recoil of the weapon, made his shoulders sore to an unbearable extent.

Tatatatatata—

Bullets whizzed into the woods, some hitting zombies, some trees, and piercing through them to strike more zombies behind.

In recent times, they had made over four hundred thousand rounds of ammunition.

In these past few days, more than half had already been expended.

Dapao looked completely drained; he had not rested for 24 hours.

In contrast, on the other side.

Yang Tianlong gripped the heavy machine gun, firing wildly with an exhilarated look on his face.

Bullets flying in all directions!

”Awesome!” Yang Tianlong shouted aloud.

With the temperature at minus tens of degrees, Yang Tianlong only wore two layers of clothing.

He had never used firearms so freely, never spent bullets so lavishly.

This battle let Yang Tianlong experience what real fighting exhilaration felt like.

After another wave of zombies had been mowed down, Yang Tianlong finally put down the heavy machine gun and rubbed his shoulders.

Seeing Dapao’s exhausted expression, he couldn’t help but laugh mockingly, ”Come on, Dapao, unleash the cosmos within you. How come you’re fading so fast. Hahaha.”

His laughter was wild and unrestrained.

Dapao, looking at Yang Tianlong’s state, helplessly said, ”Humans aren’t made of iron. Who do you think has your stamina? In the whole base, only Li Yu, Third Uncle, and a few others are stronger than you...”

Yang Tianlong also collapsed on the ground, gasping heavily.

He said to Dapao, ”That was invigorating.”

Dapao gave a wry smile, shifted his body to the door of the duty room, and told Yang Tianlong, ”I’m going to nap for five minutes, call me if anything happens. I’m too tired, just need to rest a bit.”

”Sure, go ahead and sleep.”

The next second, Dapao fell asleep.

Yang Tianlong shook his head seeing this.

What he didn’t know was that his own eyes were also full of redness, looking extremely worn out.

Beside him, Shang Xue’er was still organizing the magazines, aiming and shooting at distant zombies.

A trace of softness flashed in Yang Tianlong’s eyes as he said to Shang Xue’er, ”Xue’er, take a break too. I’ll call you if anything happens.”

Shang Xue’er’s face was also grimy, the black snow was to blame, no time to wipe it off, and even if wiped, it would soon be dirty again.

She had stopped wearing a hat long ago; it was in the way.

Hearing Yang Tianlong’s words, Shang Xue’er turned and smiled, saying, ”It’s fine. I can hold on. You go eat something first. Aunt Zhou just brought some food over. Go eat and replenish your energy.”
