Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 773: Chapter 590: Humanity Longing for Sunlight_3

For this reason, Li Yu specifically directed the super high-powered searchlights to shine directly under the wall and hung some bells underneath the mobile switch blade. Once a zombie reached a certain height, the bells would ring out, alerting everyone to be on guard.

Second Outer City.

Everyone seems to have gotten used to the current situation.

After the temperature dropped to minus ten degrees, the heating was fully turned on.

For Zuo Ruxue, these recent days felt like the most homely she had ever experienced.

In this place, uniquely safe amid dangers everywhere, she could feel a sense of happiness at any time.

Li Yu’s previous decisiveness and swift actions, which dealt with Bai Tao and his group, also earned Zuo Ruxue’s greater admiration. In fact, many people in the Second Outer City felt the same way as she did.

Having experienced the cold and the threat of zombies, they naturally knew how fortunate they were now.

It’s just that Bai Tao and his group were insatiably greedy and wanted too much, then they played themselves to death.

These days, the human-powered generators have produced more than 8,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity. Discounting the electricity used within the Second Outer City, there was still plenty left to provide power to the duty offices along the wall, a fact that pleased Li Yu greatly.

And for extra staff like Xiao Hu, Zhu Xiao, Zuo Ruxue, and others who had previously come to the Big Camphor Tree Base to take shelter from the rain and hide from the zombies, they had made contacts with each other.

Now, living under the same roof and sharing the same status made their relationship even closer.

Juzi Island.

After the river had completely frozen solid a few days ago, zombies could walk directly across the icy surface to the base of the wall.

This was more dangerous than during droughts and heatwaves.

Originally, during the droughts and heatwaves, zombies didn’t come out much. And even if a few zombies did appear, they had to go down a slope and then climb a steep incline. This was the river bed, where the deepest and highest points had a height difference of a full ten meters!

This provided some measure of obstacle to the zombies.

But now, with the river frozen solid, the zombies could walk straight across without having to climb up from the river bed below. The path from the opposite bank to the base of the wall was wide open.

On the ice, there were also some zombies that hadn’t managed to leave the river in time and were frozen beneath the surface.

However, you couldn’t tell, as this frozen river was also black in color.

Hai Chao was no longer directly intercepting zombies on the wall, as the wound on his right hand hadn’t worsened, but it hadn’t improved either.

In the past two days, Gan Shang had passed some of Hai Chao’s duties onto Baozi and others, subtly showing less regard for Hai Chao than before.

Seeing how Gan Shang was treating him, Hai Chao felt a profound disappointment. After all his diligent work, this was the outcome he faced.

It’s true, perhaps to Gan Shang, he was just a dog under his feet, replaceable at any time.

Hai Chao commanded people at the southern wall to block off zombies from under the wall. These past few days, they had lost some more members.

Now, the total number of people was barely two hundred.

As the number of people dwindled, feelings of despair spread. In this dark night, what brought ruin upon people might not be the zombies, nor might it be a food crisis.

It could be because mentally, they couldn’t hold on any longer.

Spending a long time in darkness affect’s one’s mental health.

Humans are advanced creatures drawn to light, if deprived of the sun’s brightness and lights, left in complete darkness, they would develop depressive emotions psychologically.
