Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

But because it is unknown, it adds even more pressure.

The medical equipment brought back from the county hospital could handle common minor illnesses.

But some of the bigger equipment could only be found in hospitals in farther provincial capital cities.

Li Yu hadn’t thought of this previously, but now he felt that he needed to bring these items back to the base.

”After this rain stops, we still need to make a trip to the provincial capital city and scavenge.” Li Yu murmured.

This rain lasted until July.

July 5th.

The rain that had persisted for dozens of days finally stopped.

The reservoir in Mountain Pond was already full, and the hydroelectric generator on the hillside had contributed a lot of energy this past month, compensating for the inability to use solar power these days.

Plus, with the previously stored batteries, the electricity in the base had not been interrupted.

The rain had stopped.

”Finally, the rain has stopped. It almost suffocated me being indoors every day,” said Yang Tianlong as he walked out of his room and stretched.

”The rain has stopped, but we’ve still got to continue working,” said Dapao, who lived next to him, with a smile.

”Did you hear about it too?” asked Yang Tianlong.

Dapao nodded and said, ”Brother Yu mentioned it. It’s good to go out, staying in the base all the time almost killed me.”

Yang Tianlong joked, ”When you’re out, you want to come back and when you’re back, you want to go out again. You really are restless.”

Dapao said, ”Isn’t this just ’Besieged City’? But, I’ve grown accustomed to this thrilling life.

If we returned to the monotonous life from before, I’d still prefer life now. Doing missions is exhilarating, and having brothers like you around makes me feel great.”

Yang Tianlong smiled and said nothing, obviously agreeing with what Dapao said.

...

Now that the rain had stopped, construction in the base must continue.

That part was still following the original major direction.

He Chao, Old Qin, and some others collaborating with the base were responsible for transporting raw materials.

Ding Jiu, the five workers, He Bing, and more than a dozen others, including some people from the base, totaling over thirty, were responsible for construction.

That day, Li Yu talks to his Second Uncle and others about going to the provincial capital city to retrieve medical equipment and medicines from the city hospital.

Everyone agreed.

This time, Li Yu decided to lead the team himself as they needed to transport a considerable amount of equipment, thus requiring more people.

”Third Uncle, you stay in the base and ensure its security,” Li Yu said to Third Uncle.

Then, to his Uncle, he said: ”Uncle, you take charge of the construction in Outer City and their transportation safety.”

Both agreed without issues.

Li Yu felt relieved. This time, apart from Dapao, Tianlong, and the brothers Li Gang and Li Tie.

He also planned to bring along Old Lü, Old Luo, and others.

About 35 people in total.

After arranging everything, Li Yu and the others loaded the food, water, and weapons prepared in the base onto the vehicles.

Apart from Unimog and two other modified RVs.

There were also 3 pickup trucks and 5 heavy-duty trucks.

These trucks had a capacity of 20 tons, enough to transport even the heaviest medical equipment.

To move some particularly heavy medical equipment, they also brought along some special handling equipment.

The continuous rain in the past days had cleared the air.

In the last two days, the sun had come out, and the damp ground had dried.

Outside the perimeter wall, the zombies that had been surrounding the base dispersed due to the sun in these two days.

It’s unknown where they hid, maybe in the rivers, perhaps in the mountain ravines, or possibly in some cave.

Just waiting for nightfall to come out again.

...

The next morning at 7:00.

The sun was out, and there was no fog.

A group of people departed from Big Camphor Tree Base.

People on the wall watched as Li Yu and his team left.

Roar~

The vehicles started...

Soon after their departure, a convoy from the neighboring province drove past.

Less than 80 kilometers from Xin City.

These car teams are well-equipped, each with their own firearms, and each looks like members of a team.

These people, around the city, search for various things.

Unlike many survivors, these people have rosy complexions and don’t have the pale faces typical of survivors, caused by the lack of nutrition and food.

”Tianlong, with us joining the Western Alliance, although we have food, it feels quite stifling. Why is it always us who have to go out, risking our lives to fetch those messy things for them?”

One man, with a buzz cut but shrewd eyes, said.

The man in leather boots, dressed in military attire, called Tianlong, frowned and said:

”You want to eat but don’t want to contribute. How can so many good things exist? Moreover, our initial orders were to protect them.”

The clever young man, who looked to be just over twenty, said, ”That’s not what I mean, Tianlong, I’m just feeling indignant on your behalf. Why should it be so?”

The man in leather boots glanced at a few other men on the other side and said, ”That issue is in the past. We’re eating under their roof now; in the future, don’t bring this up again.”

The young man glared at those other well-dressed, haughty people.

He then continued searching.

...

After leaving the Big Camphor Tree Base, Li Yu and his group headed north.

Passing through fields that had recently experienced a locust plague, they were originally barren.

However, due to a month of continuous rain and it being the growing season of spring and summer,

The tree branches were now dense with leaves.

Fields, lush with rain, were a vibrant green.

This view of the picturesque fields greatly lifted the spirits of everyone who had been cooped up in the base.

Fresh air blew in from the car window.

Li Yu turned to Luo beside him and said, ”Recently, how are you all adapting to the base?”

Luo, slightly dazed by the wind from the car window, rubbed his eyes and replied, ”It’s quite nice. The atmosphere is friendly. Old Bian even mentioned settling down here.”

Li Yu smiled, looking up at Old Bian and said, ”Old Bian, talking about settling down is a bit early, isn’t it?”

Old Bian, chuckling, said, ”Just joking, our base doesn’t keep idle people. I like working.”

Everyone laughed heartily.

From south to north.

Still on the same route, as Lü and Third Uncle had traveled before, they were quite familiar with it.

Driving, enjoying the scenery outside felt quite pleasant, like taking a ride.

However, after two hours of driving, they were stopped by a landslide ahead, with broken stones and trees blocking the road.

The Unimog leading the convoy stopped.

Li Tie, from inside the caravan, shouted to Li Yu, ”Big brother, the road ahead is blocked.”

Li Yu climbed to the top of the caravan, looked ahead and saw the road stretching for hundreds of meters covered in rubble.

And dried yellow mud, sun-baked over the past few days.

Li Yu glanced at the slopes on both sides, noticing they were uneven, likely due to the recent rains.

This road, a national highway, was the nearest route to the provincial capital.

If they detoured, it could lead to unnecessary travel.

The current route, however, seemed problematic to clear. For them, it wasn’t necessary.

In the middle of the road, there were several large boulders, each weighing tons.

Too troublesome to move.

Li Yu pulled out a walkie-talkie and spoke to Old Lü at the back, ”When you guys went to the provincial capital last time, did you take the highway, and was it crowded?”

Old Lü replied, ”We took the highway going there and the national highway coming back. There were some vehicles, but not too many. Why? Director Li, are we stopping now?”

Li Yu replied, ”A landslide ahead is blocking the path; we can’t go through.”

Old Lü was silent for a moment, then said, ”Then take the highway, there are some vehicles, but it’s still passable.”

”Okay.”

”Tiezi, take a detour, use the highway,” Li Yu instructed Li Tie.

As Li Tie turned around, the vehicles following him also turned, gradually seeing the blocked road ahead.

Take a detour, use the highway.
