Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

In light rain, there would only be a few hundred, at most a thousand zombies.

Continuous heavy rain, like the situation a few days ago, would bring at most tens of thousands of zombies.

Three hundred thousand zombies, this number is extremely terrifying, and if these zombies become more sensitive with the continuous heavy rain, even hiding behind walls, it would be hard to resist them.

Li Yu asked somewhat puzzledly, ”How did you survive a Zombie Tide of this scale?”

Third Uncle said, ”In the prison, there was a Water Tower more than thirty meters high, where we hid for more than ten days to escape this calamity. One of the guys in Uncle Qin’s group, a young man named Fang Yuan, sacrificed his life to cover our retreat before we evacuated...”

As soon as he said this, everyone’s mood became somewhat depressed.

Li Yu nodded towards Uncle Qin and others.

Third Uncle also thought a lot along the way and took this opportunity to share his recent thoughts with Li Yu:

”Li Yu, I have considered for a long time, and I think the walls of our base need to be heightened and reinforced. Previously, the number of zombies we encountered here at the base didn’t exceed one hundred thousand, but I estimate that if the number besieging the base exceeds this figure, with the current defense of the base, I feel it’s still not enough.”

Li Yu pondered for a moment; he had thought about this issue as well.

But in the year since the apocalypse, intermittent heavy rains, droughts, strong winds, and extreme cold had disrupted their plans to reinforce the base numerous times. Whenever they had time, they would fortify the base.

So he said to Third Uncle, ”Your suggestion makes sense. We were a bit short on hands before, but now that we have more people, it’s time to reinforce again.”

Changing the subject, Li Yu then said, ”It’s also time to expand the base, I think it’s time to build another Outer City.”

At these words, Uncle Qin and others’ eyes lit up.

Li Yu said to Uncle Qin, ”Uncle Qin, from the last time you contributed the lathe, and then this time the great contribution in heading north, I’ve checked the Contribution Value, and you qualify to enter the Outer City. Congratulations!”

Uncle Qin, Zhou, Ah Hong, and others had smiles appear on their faces, finally!

Li Yu continued, ”You can first enter Outer City No. 1, we’ll temporarily call it Outer City No. 1, later we will build Outer City No. 2 together, and then you can move there.”

Uncle Qin said, ”Okay, I have no objections.”

Li Yu has always been wary of expanding the base too much, not because they couldn’t build it or there were no new members, but rather the fundamental problem of food.

Without enough food, as the number of people increases, food consumption will increase. The more people, the faster the food is consumed, and the eventual outcome would be chaos and collapse.

Food, at any time, is the most fundamental guarantee for the stability of a group or a country.

If they hadn’t purchased two hundred tons of food in advance before the apocalypse arrived.

Built good walls, and had a Mountain Pond for water storage reaching several meters deep, Li Yu and his people would not have survived such extreme natural disasters.

Just in that several months-long drought, the crops they had planted died of thirst.

Not to mention at tens of degrees below zero, how could these crops survive; it was also thanks to the underground planting rooms built initially, with solar photovoltaic heating that could maintain them.

In the apocalypse, no one expected that the difficulty of human survival would not only be zombies but also natural disasters!

Since they last obtained the military base, with thousands of tons of food reserves, it gave Li Yu some confidence to slightly increase the population.

After communicating with Uncle Qin, he asked Uncle Qin and his people to pack up their belongings and move to the building next to He Chao.

Watching Uncle Qin and others get on the vehicle, Second Uncle approached Li Yu and said,

”Li Yu, He Bing’s team also reached the necessary Contribution Value. From their assistance in Luo Tianyan’s previous endeavors, later gathering materials and then finding the lathe to searching for gunpowder ingredients for bullets, they have contributed. I think it’s time to let their team in.”

He Bing?

The image of a somewhat immature face of a boy with a great talent for handcrafting flashed through Li Yu’s mind.

He and his college classmates had performed very well in recent months.

So he said to Second Uncle, ”Where are He Bing and his team now?”

Second Uncle said, ”Today we just brought over some gasoline that we found and exchanged it for some food. Right now, they are in that house near the national highway, neighbors with Old Qin.”

Upon hearing this, Li Yu saw Old Qin getting into the car and quickly ran a few steps to Old Qin’s side and said, ”Uncle Qin, please wait a moment. Xiao Hang, Dapao, you two go with Uncle Qin. Let He Bing and the others pack up their things too and tell them that they can enter the Outer City.”

Old Qin paused for a moment, and Li Hang and Li Tie got into the car.

Everyone loves freedom, and if they were to live within the Outer City, it definitely wouldn’t be as free as living outside on their own.

But if it’s a choice between safety and a little less freedom, safety is definitely more important.

In this post-apocalyptic world, being able to sleep soundly is a luxury for many.

Having lived in constant fear of zombies appearing at any moment, nerves always taut, most people are unable to fall asleep, and the agony of insomnia is incredibly grinding.

After Old Qin and the others left, Third Uncle had Yang Tianlong and Old Lü move the zombie corpse out.

Third Uncle said, ”We encountered something rather strange yesterday. Inside a small villa, we saw this corpse, and beside it was a zombie baby. We don’t know whether the corpse was pregnant before turning into a zombie, or if the zombie became pregnant and gave birth. If zombies can give birth to baby zombies, the future will be even more difficult!”

Zombies giving birth to baby zombies!

Li Yu furrowed his brow upon hearing this. He remembered that before his rebirth, he had never encountered such a thing. If zombies could give birth to baby zombies, their numbers would be even more terrifying!

Impossible!

However, faced with this corpse, Li Yu still used the walkie-talkie to call over Bai Jie and Xiao Lan, and relayed to Bai Jie what Third Uncle had just mentioned.

When Bai Jie arrived, she put on a serious face, donned her gloves swiftly and began a careful examination of the zombie’s corpse.

After a while, she said to Li Yu:

”This corpse is very valuable. Primarily, it seems to have become a zombie after getting pregnant. If only that zombie baby were also here, then we could be hundred percent certain.

But I didn’t bring the equipment over. So here’s what we’ll do—I’ll take the corpse back for a detailed examination and check for dark matter content in this corpse in comparison to other zombies...”

Li Yu nodded and said, ”Okay, thank you for your hard work. Make sure to take protective measures. Old Lü, Old Xie, help lift the body over.”

Bai Jie glanced around and noticed no one was looking at her, then threw a knowing look to Li Yu.

Li Yu pretended not to see.

After Bai Jie and the others left, Li Yu felt that he had spent enough time in Weng City and so he had Third Uncle and the others return to the base to rest.

These past few days, Third Uncle and the others had been cooped up in a tiny space without fresh clothes to change into and the continual rain left their clothing perpetually drenched.

Although they had dried their clothes in that small platform room for several days, the humidity was too high. Now Third Uncle and the others all had a strange odor clinging to them that was unbearable.

Dragging their weary bodies, Third Uncle and the others handed over their firearms and then dispersed.

Returning to his room, Li Tie lay in the bathtub, the warm water almost making him exclaim in comfort.

So comfortable!

These past dozen days, he had not had a proper rest, constantly drenched in cold rain and carrying a spear to fight zombies, his muscles ached all over.

The physical and mental exhaustion seemed to dissipate a lot while soaking in the bath.

After soaking in the hot water for half an hour, Li Tie felt dizzy when he got up—bad move, he soaked for too long.

He sat on the floor for ten minutes before managing to stand up.

His stomach was growling.

When he came downstairs, it was just in time for dinner, along with Old Lü and the others.

After half a month, eating a mouthful of warm food, Li Tie felt a sense of happiness nearly overflowing.

Coming home, it feels so good.
