Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Before daybreak, a drizzle started to waft through the sky.

Pitter-patter, soaking all the raw materials laid out on the open ground completely wet.

Second Uncle got up early, finding several people to store away those things that couldn’t be dampened.

During the night, Li Yu was roused from sleep by the pitter-patter of rain outside the window and hurriedly got up.

Now the surrounding wall of the Second Outer City wasn’t finished yet, and with the imminent rainy season approaching, if the rain didn’t stop, the construction of the Second Outer City would be greatly delayed.

The height of the Second Outer City wall was being constructed to a standard of 15 meters.

These past days, they took advantage of the time to construct the lower levels, and now they had reached a height of nearly 13 meters.

Only two meters were left.

But due to the constant busyness, the gates hadn’t been installed yet.

Li Yu quickly got up, then put his clothes on and ran towards the Outer City.

At this time, in the Second Outer City, seven or eight people were already there, moving some of the cement, made the day before, into a shelter that had been set up.

Li Yu stepped down from the wall to assist, then asked Second Uncle to call over He Chao and others to help.

After He Chao and his team arrived, the speed of transportation greatly increased.

Li Yu then looked at the empty gate and said to Old Zhou, who had also come to help, ”Old Zhou Uncle, the gate you were tasked to make a few days ago, is it done?

It has been nearly a week, I haven’t checked on it; it should be mostly completed by now, right?”

Since the Second Outer City needed a gate, the task was given to Old Zhou, a former machinery engineer, and some others including Yang Tianlong to help out.

Old Zhou, also in loose-fitting clothes and likely having been hurriedly woken up, nodded and said, ”Director Li, the gate is finished. We used about five tons of steel plate, embedded with reinforced concrete in the middle, and for opening and closing the gate, we’ve employed hook rings, which allow one person to do so using leverage.

Are we going to install the gate now?”

Li Yu nodded and said, ”It should be installed. It’s drizzling now, and who knows if it will rain harder later. We are entering the rainy season, and once it starts, it may not stop.”

Old Zhou thought that Li Yu made sense.

Li Yu then said to everyone, ”Alright, let’s get the gate installed.”

Old Zhou replied, ”Okay, we’ll need a forklift to carry it over, I’ll bring it over with that in a moment.”

Li Yu nodded in agreement.

Watching Old Zhou and others transport the large iron gate.

This gate was not too massive, only five meters wide and six meters high.

Almost sufficient to accommodate all truck models.

Suddenly, a sentry who had been watching the situation outside the base from the wall shouted, ”Zombies are coming in. Everyone, be alert.”

After speaking, he picked up his crossbow and shot at the zombies.

The gate was not yet mounted, and if they allowed those zombies to come in, the Second Outer City would be overrun by them.

So, he instructed Li Tie and others nearby to go up the wall and provide support, not letting a single zombie enter the Outer City.

Following Li Yu’s command, the people on the wall fired at the zombies outside the base.

Boom!

A thunderbolt sounded from the heavens.

The sound was so loud, it seemed to explode right next to one’s ear.

Lightning struck down in the mountains not far from the base, and Li Yu and the others shifted their gaze to that direction.

Shortly after, they saw white smoke rising from the northern woods, which dissipated in less than a minute.

Splash!

Old Zhou drove the largest forklift in the base over and stopped it at the edge of the Second Outer City.

Li Yu turned his head and said to Dapao who had rushed over, ”Hurry back to the Inner City and bring the crane over, we’ll need it to install the gate.”

Dapao ran back into the base without delay.

There was also a Weng City being constructed in the Second Outer City, similar in area to the previous two.

The crane was quite large, and if it needed to leave the base, it could only do so through the Weng City that was built first.

The gate of the first Weng City, both in height and width, could allow the crane to pass through.

By the time the crane arrived, Li Yu and the others had temporarily placed some of the machinery for operating the gates on the still-uncompleted wall.

Although the Second Outer City was not finished yet, it stood over ten meters high.

Thanks to Old Zhou’s setup, the gates of this Outer City could be opened by two methods: one at the bottom of the Outer City, and the other on the wall.

But to open the gate from beneath the wall, a key was required.

Although the gate was simple to open, the setting for operating it was complex.

This was the result of great effort by Old Zhou to create such a gate.

The crane slowly moved in and lifted the large iron gate.

Subsequently, He Chao drove a forklift under the gate to prevent it from falling down.

”Hurry up and install it,” Li Yu instructed Old Zhou.

From the wall, Li Yu saw a large horde of nearly a hundred zombies heading their way.

This was rather unusual; the rain had just started, and so many zombies had already appeared.
