Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 578: Chapter 509: Who is Pregnant? The Future of the Base (Three-in-One, a Big Chapter, Brothers)

The locust plague had passed.

A complete mess.

But within the Big Camphor Tree Base, everything was proceeding in an organized manner.

The people of the base split into two groups.

One group continued to build the second Outer City.

The other group replanted the crops that had been devoured by the locusts, rushed to plant the early rice, and processed the locusts.

From 3 o’clock in the afternoon, in the blink of an eye, it was already 5:30 in the evening.

It was now spring, and the nightfall had been pushed back a lot.

At 5:30, it was still bright outside.

It would take only about half an hour for it to get dark.

But today, everyone was somewhat weary, initially thinking of protecting against locusts, but later on rushing to harvest the rice.

Non-stop.

So it was decided to let everyone return to the base earlier to rest.

Smoke curled up.

The aroma of fried locusts filled the entire base.

For the Big Camphor Tree Base, oil was not scarce.

They had planted so many peanuts and possessed an oil press; for them, peanut oil was straightforward.

At this moment, in the Inner City base, Zhou Xiumei carried a huge iron pot that was nearly two meters in diameter, with several people to the outside.

Dapao started frying on the spot.

After removing the wings, the locusts were cleaned and then thrown into the iron pot, batch by batch.

The iron pot was full of peanut oil.

The cleaned grasshoppers were tossed directly into the pot.

Sizzling〜

The grasshoppers were fried until crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

Li Yu stood by, watching his mother and several women from the base pour chili powder into a large basin.

Fried food generally tasted better with chili powder.

Li Yu looked at the oil pot, seeing the grasshoppers rolling in the hot oil, and the fragrance went straight to his nose.

He couldn’t help himself and took a freshly fried grasshopper to eat.

Seeing Li Yu’s action, his mother quickly said, ”Li Yu, don’t eat it just yet. You’ll get inflamed if you eat it fresh out of the fryer; let it cool first.”

Li Yu smiled and said, ”It won’t taste as good once it’s cool.”

Seeing Li Yu eating, Li Hang, who had been drooling at the sight, reached out to grab some.

A single freshly fried batch could fill about twenty basins, enough for 80 people to eat.

Soon, this freshly fried batch was taken away by everyone.

And then put into basins.

A batch was fried quickly, and the second batch was ready in no time.

Li Yu watched Zhou Xiumei scoop out the crispy fried grasshoppers and put them in a large bucket.

He turned to Dapao and said, ”Dapao, take a few people and send these fried ones over to Uncle Qin in the Outer City.”

Dapao nodded, then stuffed a fried grasshopper into his mouth.

Crunch crunch〜

Crispy!

Li Yu estimated the number of people, and one large pot was probably enough.

After frying two batches, it certainly wouldn’t be enough, so they continued to fry.

Li Yu took a small basin, carrying the fried grasshoppers, and said to Zhou Xiumei, ”Aunt Zhou, see how much you can fry with this oil, fry as much as possible.

Try to fry more; it can last longer.”

Aunt Zhou, in her forties, was a typical rural woman, strong and sturdy, not weaker than men.

She stirred the big frying pot with a large iron spoon, and smiling at Li Yu, she said, ”Don’t worry, there’s a lot more that can be fried.”

Dusk descended heavily.

Fragrance filled the air.

In the base, full of pits and dips from the locusts.

The dimming skies made the atmosphere of a post-apocalyptic world even more intense.

This whiff of homeliness seemed to unwittingly

Disperse the atmosphere of the apocalypse.

Li Yu strolled within the Inner City of the base, seeing that the roads of the original Inner City, once full of dark green locust feces, were now all cleaned up.

An Ya was busy in the fields with some people.

Li Yu walked over and said to An Ya, ”It’s getting dark, you can go back, eat something and rest. You can continue tomorrow the same way.”

Upon hearing Li Yu’s voice, An Ya put down what was in her hands and turned around to see Li Yu.

She opened her mouth and said, ”Director Li, it’s mid-May now, we must hurry. We are directly sowing seeds instead of cultivating seedlings, but there’s one drawback, the speed is fast, but the yield is not high.

We have no choice but to rush. If we were to wait for the seedlings to grow, the timing would have passed.

But I just discovered that the locust feces are quite nutritious, not only containing a high level of crude protein but also rich in chlorophyll and vitamins, which can save feed and promote the growth of the soil elemental.”

Li Yu thought for a moment and asked, ”You mean, locust feces is good fertilizer, and then it’s beneficial for the crops?”

An Ya froze for a second, as it seemed to be the meaning. Li Yu always managed to accurately and succinctly summarize into one result-oriented sentence.

So An Ya nodded and said, ”That’s roughly the idea. So here, we’re processing all the locust feces and then applying it as fertilizer, not just for crops.

Even for the fruit trees in the mountains whose leaves have been eaten away are now in the growing period, if we use this batch of fertilizers to help, maybe we can still grow some fruit.”

Upon hearing this, Li Yu felt it was good news.

Who would have thought that the locusts, after eating so much, and having pooped so much, could have some effect.

So he said to An Ya, ”Alright, you all have been working hard. Be sure to make good use of these fertilizers. No need to rush it today, get back early after you finish.”
