Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 551: Chapter 497: Return from the North and South! (Two in One)_2

No matter the situation, as long as it dares show up in front of me, just destroy it.

Third Uncle saw everyone’s mood was somewhat down and strange, after all, the mysteriously disappearing zombie baby had cast a fog over their hearts, making everyone worried.

Seeing this, Third Uncle reassured everyone: ”Don’t think too much, it might have been some animal that dragged it away. Well, anything’s possible, but everyone should remember one thing, as long as we are strong enough, all kinds of evil spirits are no issue.”

Everyone, seeing Third Uncle steady as Taishan, felt as if the dark clouds in their hearts had been swept away.

Having been out for so long, everyone was eager to go back, so they hurriedly packed everything and prepared to start heading home.

Seeing everyone’s condition had recovered well, Third Uncle smiled and then walked straight out the door.

After exiting the door, his expression immediately turned gloomy and ugly.

This didn’t make sense, neither logically nor scientifically.

Third Uncle came to the place where the zombie baby was abandoned yesterday and observed the surroundings carefully.

The soil, the leaves, every trace.

Suddenly, Third Uncle saw a piece of torn cloth at the location of the zombie baby, a fragment that he remembered belonged on the zombie baby.

Footsteps came from behind; it was Li Gang and others coming to move the zombie. Third Uncle quickly told them, ”Don’t come over here for now.”

Then he crouched down on his own, looking at the piece of cloth.

Suddenly, he found faint dragging marks at the location where the zombie baby had been before. They were very subtle, but real traces that ordinary people couldn’t discern.

Third Uncle lowered his head and then followed the traces backward.

He walked and walked, reaching a small ditch about a dozen meters away.

Below the small ditch was a long stick, Third Uncle’s eyes widened, and a guess formed in his mind.

He turned back, looking towards the direction of the villa, to the position where people were on duty yesterday, and found that this spot couldn’t be seen.

Blind spot!

Third Uncle rushed upstairs directly, standing at the guarding position where Yang Tianlong and others were yesterday, then looking towards the ditch he had just been near below.

Not visible!

A blind spot, paired with the stick seen near the ditch earlier, he had an answer in his heart.

The stick at the top had a downturned rake attached, and with the length of this long stick, it was simple arithmetic to reach the zombie baby.

All signs indicated that this was done by a person.

Who did it? And why do it?

Unknown, but the most important fact was established: it was done by a person.

If it was done by a person, then everything was much simpler.

Third Uncle also finally felt a sigh of relief in his heart.

These clueless zombies weren’t frightening, the terrifying part was their sheer number.

Humans aren’t terrifying, what’s terrifying is human nature.

But ultimately, all these could be resisted, they weren’t truly terrifying.

The truly terrifying things were the bizarre existences outside of comprehension, those are what you call terrifying.

Everything was within controllable limits, and so Third Uncle shared his findings with everyone.

Hearing this, everyone truly felt a bit more relaxed, only those who were on duty yesterday felt a bit embarrassed.

Third Uncle thought for a moment, then said to everyone: ”Given such an incident, there must be people involved, we won’t take a straight path home, but make some detours, and everyone keep your eyes peeled to see if we can spot anyone following us.”

For Third Uncle and old Qin, counter-tracking was like child’s play, but still, he reminded everyone to stay alert, as they are more in numbers now, a large target can easily expose them.

After all this was explained, everyone dispersed, as they still needed to begin their journey back to the base.

In the early morning, the beautiful morning glow shone down on the asphalt road, making it glisten like the scales of a fish, looking extremely beautiful.

When everyone was ready, Li Tie and others drove the vehicles out of the villa.

Amidst the roaring of the vehicles, they embarked on the road back to the base.

Third Uncle kept observing the surroundings along the way, the planned route back to the base was changed three times.

From morning until noon, they had only covered less than half the distance. Had they been driving at full speed, they would have been close to the base by now.

Seeing that no problems had arisen behind them, Third Uncle then said to Li Tie: ”Xiao Tie, after lunch, let’s drive at full speed back to the base.”

Li Tie nodded, taking detours along the way had made him quite exhausted, if not for Third Uncle’s word, he would have liked to rebel.

Speaking of which, he and his biological brother Li Gang never really had a rebellious phase, they hadn’t really rebelled since childhood.

After everyone finished their last meal, starting from the water tower of the old prison, they had only two meals’ worth of food left.

After the meal, they set sail again.

Along the way, the surroundings were unusually quiet, other than them, there were no traces of any humans.

Even if there were people hidden in the shadows, they would not appear in front of them; in this apocalypse, strangers were the most terrifying.

Especially as the apocalypse progressed, the longer the time, the more twisted human nature became, everything was about surviving.

The journey was uneventful, and they sped along the road towards the base in the Southern.

....

On the other side, the people at Furong Mountain, after the rain stopped yesterday, had packed up everything.
