Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 576: Chapter 508: Drastic Measures Must Be Used in the Apocalyptic World!_2

All we need to do is build the molds well, tie up the rebar properly, and then pour the cement, sand, concrete, and stones into the mixer truck.

Then with a crane arm, we can directly pour this mixed mud into the molds.

Refinement in division of labor.

Everyone is fueled with passion, let’s get to work!

An hour later, with everyone back in action, the work that was halted due to the locust disaster also resumed its rhythm.

Li Yu stood on the wall and could see such a scene:

Part one:

He Chao and others were out driving vehicles to gather raw materials: rebar, sand, clay, limestone, coarse rocks...

Old Zhou and his crew were digging foundations and tying rebars in the pre-defined locations, moving the prepared molds there.

Part two:

On the far left, Fu Sheng led four people, continuously feeding the accumulated limestone and clay on the ground into the vertical kiln to produce cement.

Part three:

As soon as the cement was produced, Old Qin and his crew would pour these cement, along with the sand, concrete, and stones, into the mixer trucks for blending.

Part four:

This well-mixed mud was then directly poured into the dug pits.

Just like when Li Yu first built the base, the foundation of this Outer City was made especially deep.

A typical three-story building in the countryside is about nine meters, and the foundation is about 1 to 2 meters deep.

But when Li Yu first built the wall, he made the foundation go down to 7 meters, a depth usually used for constructing multi-storey residential buildings in the city.

Based on a soil bearing capacity of 450 megapascals, one meter of foundation can support three stories. An 8-meter-deep foundation is enough to support a building of 20 to 24 stories.

In the days prior, aside from He Chao and his team collecting raw materials, most people were digging the foundation.

Such a deep foundation is indeed a massive undertaking.

But precisely because the foundation is solidly laid, the subsequent heightening of the structure would be very stable.

Refined construction and assembly line production significantly accelerated the speed of building the wall.

Suddenly, a voice came through.

”How can we use rebar of this thickness? If we want the foundation to be solid, we must stick to the prescribed thickness.”

”Xiao Qian, they should all be the same, right?”

”No, we must strictly follow the regulations. This wall is for our own protection; we can’t be the least bit negligent.”

...

Li Yu came down from the wall and walked over.

”What’s happening?”

Xiao Qian, a college student who had studied civil engineering before and was previously a student following He Bing, was now involved in the construction process and paid attention to the construction details.

The middle-aged man under He Chao said to Li Yu, ”Engineer Qian says that the rebar of this thickness is not acceptable; we need thicker rebar, but what he asks for is only slightly thicker than what we have, and the thicker one has been used up. Brother Chao and the others are still looking...”

Li Yu called Ding Jiu over.

He himself didn’t know much, although the two types of rebar were less than 2 millimeters apart, he was unclear about the specifics.

Professional work needs to be done by professionals.

Ding Jiu was a veteran builder who had undertaken the construction of skyscrapers for many years, only to suffer great losses later.

Li Yu found him and in front of everyone, asked, ”Can we use this thinner rebar as a substitute?”

Ding Jiu, along with Li Yu’s father, was originally in charge of the overall engineering of this wall’s construction.

He wasn’t here just now, but he ran over immediately upon hearing Li Yu’s call.

Upon hearing Li Yu’s question, he squatted down and examined the two types of rebar carefully, eventually asserting firmly:

”Xiao Qian is right, although it’s just a bit thinner, the difference is far too great. For building the foundation, we can only use the thicker rebar, not the thinner one.”

Li Yu nodded and said, ”You heard it, right? Don’t hesitate, if there’s a problem, think of a solution to the problem. Our own wall must be strong enough!”

Then he glanced at the man who had raised the question earlier and said, ”Listen to Engineer Qian. There’s nothing to hesitate about. I will send people to collect more rebar.”

The middle-aged man bowed his head and apologized to the young Engineer Qian.

Engineer Qian seemed too naive, and facing someone much older than him, he quickly waved his hands and said, ”It’s okay, no problem.”

Li Yu looked at the two and said with a smile, ”If there’s a problem, a doubt, or an emotion, speak out immediately right now. But after this moment, if I come to know that any of you hold thoughts or create trouble, that person will be expelled from the base.”

The last few words seemed to carry a storm of blood and gore.

Everyone present was shocked.

They seemed to have just been reminded of how terrifying Li Yu could be outside of the base!

Since the apocalypse, Li Yu had killed far too many zombies, and he had also killed quite a few humans.

All in all, he was responsible for the lives of hundreds of people.

Moreover, his perception of danger was extremely acute.

Therefore, he seemed to always have a preternatural sense of the hostility around him and the impending misfortune.

It’s unknown if it’s because of being reborn, which combined the spiritual power of two lifetimes, enhancing his sense of danger, or if it was forged through numerous life-and-death crises in his past life.

But no matter what, Li Yu’s sense of danger was strong.

Li Yu continued to address the middle-aged man, ”I understand your doubts, and they also reflect the practical consideration of material scarcity.
