Chapter 149: Battle at the Citrus Stadium (End)

Drake recalled Venusaur into its Poké Ball and whispered, ”Venusaur performed very well.”

Then, he took off the Poké Ball hanging around his neck.

”Alright, it’s your turn to shine! Go, Dragonite!” He excitedly released Dragonite.

”Pokémon: Dragonite”

”Attribute: Dragon + Flying”

”Level: Elite Junior”

”Ability: Inner Focus (Through mental training, it will not flinch from the opponent’s attacks)”

”Alright, Dragonite has appeared! How will our contestant Misty respond? Let’s wait and see!”

Drake’s Dragonite was very popular on Citrus Island, and its appearance immediately drew rounds of applause.

Dragonite’s eyes instantly sharpened when it saw the battle-ready Gyarados.

”Gyarados, use Ice Fang!”

Misty chose to make the first move.

Upon hearing the command, Gyarados gathered cold energy on its teeth and bit towards Dragonite.

”Dragonite, use Thunderbolt!”

The two antennae on Dragonite’s head unleashed a terrifying bolt of lightning.

Caught off guard, Gyarados was enveloped in lightning, its eyes tightly shut, and its body trembling.

”Gyarados, hang in there!” Misty shouted.

Thunderbolt dealt considerable damage to Gyarados, but it wasn’t Dragonite’s same-type attack bonus move, so it wasn’t enough to defeat Gyarados in one hit.

”Gyarados, use Psybeam!”

”Dragonite, use Dragon Dance to dodge it.”

Dragonite flew in the air, spinning its body, dodging all of Gyarados’s attacks.

”Dragonite, use Slam Attack!”

Just as Gyarados was at a loss, Drake issued the command to end the battle. Dragonite burst out with incredible speed and slapped Gyarados on the back of its head.

”Gyarados is unable to battle! Challenger, please send out your next Pokémon!” the referee shouted, raising his flag.

”Gyarados, you worked hard.” Misty recalled Gyarados, then pulled out a Poké Ball from her waist. ”It’s your turn to appear, Kingdra!”

”Another Water-type? Miss Misty, could it be that you specialize in Water-type Pokémon?” Drake couldn’t help but ask, his curiosity piqued.

He never thought there would be a pure Water-type Trainer who could pass through the four Gyms and come here to battle him.

It wasn’t that he looked down on Trainers who specialized in one type, but in certain situations, a single-type team could easily be limited. If they encountered an opponent with a type advantage, they basically had to rely on a significantly higher level to win. But if the levels weren’t advantageous and the type was inferior, the chances of losing were extremely high.

Although the four Gyms of the Orange Islands were significantly different from Gyms in other regions, it truly surprised him that she had made it this far with just a Water-type team.

”I specialize in Water-types, but that doesn’t mean my strength is weak, Mr. Drake. You should be careful,” Misty said with a touch of pride.

”Kingdra, use Water Gun attack!”

Kingdra transformed into a cannon, firing Water Guns rapidly.

Kingdra’s Water Gun sprayed extremely fast, and in less than three seconds, Dragonite was hit several times.

Drake frowned. ”Dragonite, fly up!”

Dragonite flew forward at extreme speed, then pulled up at a ninety-degree angle. Kingdra’s Water Gun attack simply couldn’t keep up with Dragonite’s speed.

”So fast!”

Misty was a bit flustered.

”Dragonite, use Thunderbolt.”

The flying Dragonite’s antennae on its head once again released lightning.

”Kingdra, use Water Pulse!”

The two powerful moves collided, creating a violent explosion. The strong Impact wave knocked Dragonite to the ground, while Kingdra was thrown back several meters.

Misty frowned slightly and shouted, ”Kingdra, use Dragon Pulse!”

”Dragonite, we’ll use Dragon Pulse too!”

Boom!

Again, two powerful moves collided.

When the smoke and dust cleared, Dragonite had several obvious injuries, while Kingdra had fallen to the ground, unable to battle.

”Kingdra is unable to battle!”

”Wow! Drake, with his signature Dragonite, has won two consecutive rounds! What Pokémon will contestant Misty send out next to respond?”

”Go, Milotic!”

Misty sent out her ace Pokémon.

”Milotic! It’s here, Milotic, known as the most beautiful Pokémon! I didn’t expect contestant Misty to have such a rare Pokémon, and this Milotic’s coloration is incredibly vibrant; it’s a very well-trained Pokémon!” The Host was excited to see Milotic.

The audience in the arena was also like that. Spectators with cameras quickly pointed their lenses at Milotic. After all, Citrus Island is an island, and a beautiful, pure Water-type Pokémon like Milotic truly fits the aesthetic of these islanders.

”Milotic, use Disarming Voice!”

Misty was quite skilled in same-type battles.

Milotic opened its mouth and let out a charming Growl. This Growl sounded incredibly beautiful to everyone, but in Dragonite’s ears, it was like noise, making it feel very uncomfortable.

”Next is Icy Wind!”

Milotic blew a cold gust of wind at Dragonite. Under the influence of the cold, Dragonite’s speed immediately dropped a notch.

”Dragonite, counter with Thunder Punch!”

Dragonite’s eyes shifted, its chubby right hand glowed with lightning, and with a flap of its small wings, it burst out with incredible speed, charging towards Milotic.

”Milotic, Psybeam!”

Psybeam hit Dragonite directly in the head, interrupting its move.

”Finally, Aqua Tail!”

Milotic’s tail was covered in a fierce stream of water, then it quickly twisted its body, using inertia to deliver a powerful blow to Dragonite.

Thwack!

Dragonite was immediately knocked out, unable to battle.

”Dragonite is unable to battle, so contestant Misty wins!” The referee raised the green flag, symbolizing Misty’s victory.

”Contestant Misty has defeated the Elite Trainer Drake and has become a Trainer entering the Hall of Fame!”

Misty received the Orange League Victor’s Cup trophy from Drake.
