Chapter 123: She is so kind, really, I cried to death...

”Actually, I don’t know how they evolved. Most of the time, Gardevoir was with them.”

Serena was also unaware. She only knew that her Gardevoir often took them into the woods, and then one night they came back already evolved.

”I see.”

Ash guessed that Serena’s Gardevoir must have taken these two little guys to fight and accumulate battle experience. An excellent intermediate level was indeed enough for their evolution.

”These two Pokémon are in great condition. Both their height and weight are much better than normal. I need to record this quickly.”

Tracy took out his drawing paper and pen and began sketching Servine. This was one of the First Generation Starters from the Unova Region, an extremely rare existence in the Kanto Region.

”Serena, don’t you usually train them to battle?” Misty was very confused.

If Serena was a Trainer, she should know her Pokémon very well, but why was she unclear about something as important as their evolution?

”I really haven’t. I actually don’t like battling,” Serena said.

Ash added, ”Serena wants to be a Pokémon Performer. In the Kalos Region, there’s a TriPokalon similar to the Grand Festival in the Hoenn and Sinnoh Regions. However, the performance format of the TriPokalon is different from the Grand Festival; there’s almost no battling.”

”A Pokémon Performer? That sounds very high-end. It must be difficult, right?”

Misty really hadn’t learned much about unique professions in other regions.

”Oh, right, I also prepared gifts for you. One was originally for Brock, but unfortunately, he’s not here now, so I can only give it to him later. As for Tracy’s, I’m really sorry, but because I came in a hurry, I could only buy it in Vermilion City.”

Serena handed Ash and Misty each a beautifully wrapped gift box. Inside Ash’s box was a handmade set of clothes, while Misty’s was an exquisite set of hair accessories, also handmade by her.

As for Tracy’s, it was a new model of observation telescope. She specifically asked Ash about Tracy’s basic situation when she arrived in Vermilion City before choosing to buy it.

Of course, Ash’s Pikachu and Gardevoir’s gifts were not forgotten; they were also clothes. Other Pokémon also received plenty of macarons and Poké Puffs as gifts.

”Tha...thank you! To be honest, it’s really embarrassing. We just met for the first time, and you even prepared gifts for me....”

Looking at the gift in her hand, Misty felt even more that she couldn’t compare to Serena. She was truly so kind, it made her want to cry....

”It’s nothing. We’re all friends. Most of these were made by me. Misty, as long as you don’t dislike them,” Serena said, smiling as she linked arms with Misty.

”Thank you very much! As a return gift, these are special incenses I obtained during my previous travels.”

Tracy rummaged through his backpack and pulled out something resembling an incense burner, along with several packets of powder emitting a strange fragrance.

”It smells so good!”

The strange fragrance made both women fall into a daze.

”Tracy, are these things for Pokémon?” Ash asked.

”Yes, but Ash, you just said Serena wants to be a Pokémon Performer. These special incenses should be helpful to her.”

Actually, Tracy just felt really bad. The telescope Serena prepared for him was the one he had looked at for a long time but couldn’t bear to buy. It was the latest model from Devon Corporation, and the price was very high.

The two women were marveling at the incense, then they chatted and drifted from perfume to skin care.

In any case, the two girls’ conversation left Ash and Tracy unable to interject, so in the end, the two of them could only go to the kitchen to get busy.

Soon, the dishes Ash had busied himself preparing all morning were transformed into delicious meals and served on the dining table.

After a hearty meal, Ash took Serena on a tour around Mikan Island.

As they returned to the yacht, a Meowth-shaped robot blocked their path.

Seeing the huge R-shaped logo on the robot’s abdomen, Ash knew that it must be the Team Rocket Trio up to no good.

Serena, completely unaware, only thought it was a special event unique to the Orange Islands, so she asked Ash, ”Ash, is this an activity for some special festival?”

”I heard someone asking, ’What special festival activity?’”

”Since you asked so sincerely.”

”Then we will tell you with great compassion.”

”Alright, stop babbling so much, hurry up and snatch those two Gardevoir, Meowth!”

Meowth found Jessie and James’s dawdling behavior difficult to deal with. These two guys’ opening lines were almost muscle memory now.

”Damn it, Meowth, I’m the leader! How dare you order me around? Even if the Elite was here today, we would still finish our opening lines!”

From inside the robot’s cockpit came the sound of Jessie using Stomp on Meowth.

”Uh...” Ash sweatdropped.

These three guys must have been lonely for a long time; they were starting to play tricks.

”Ash, you seem to know them?”

Seeing the somewhat awkward expression on Ash’s face, Serena could also guess that the people inside the robot were his friends.

”I guess you could say I know them. Those three are just idiots who never learn,” Ash said.

”Idiots who never learn?”

Serena was even more confused.

”Darn it, Ash, who are you calling an idiot?” Jessie, unable to bear it, opened the robot’s hatch and demanded.

”Exactly! We’re cute and charming villains, you know! If anyone’s an idiot, it should be Meowth!” James was also very indignant.

”Damn it, what are you two idiots doing?! You can’t open the hatch!”

Meowth, who was struggling to get up, saw the two of them leaning halfway out and immediately had a bad feeling.

”Pikachu!”

As Pika? released Thunderbolt, the special robot painstakingly built by the Team Rocket Trio overloaded and exploded.

Jessie and James, as they turned into shooting stars, left behind a sigh: ”What a nasty feeling!”

”It’s all your two idiots’ fault! Now we didn’t catch Gardevoir and we’re in a mountain of debt!”

Meowth cried, tears in his eyes.

Because their last airship was blown up, they had already been blacklisted by Giovanni. Not only were their operational funds withheld, but their salaries were also docked for three months. This robot was built by Jessie and James with a bank loan.

But the result was a total loss.

”Ash, so who exactly are they? And that Meowth seemed to be speaking human language, right?” Serena asked.

”They are members of the evil organization Team Rockets. They’ve been following me since Viridian City, trying to steal Pikachu and Gardevoir. Today, they must have been eyeing your Gardevoir and my Gardevoir.”

Ash had heard Meowth’s words very clearly before he was beaten. These three guys were indeed eyeing the two identical Gardevoir.

Of course, Ash also had to praise these three guys for their good eyesight. Two identical Gardevoir, their value was much higher than Pikachu.

After all, a thousand gold and a son, the thousand gold is definitely more valuable, let alone two thousand gold.
