Chapter 114: The gods fight and the mortals suffer

”Alright then, you sail back yourself, I’ll lure Lugia away,” Ash said.

Gary nodded, and before he left, he suddenly said to Ash, ”Ash, one day I will defeat you. Don’t you dare die before that.”

”Don’t worry, I haven’t achieved my dream yet.”

After Ash finished speaking, he pulled out a black outfit from who knew where, covered himself completely, and then soared into the air, taking Pikachu and Gardevoir with him to confront Lugia.

”Lugia, I’m going to catch you!” Ash said seriously to Lugia.

”Roar~”

Lugia roared at Ash, then opened its mouth, condensing the power of water elements and spewing it towards Ash and his Pokémon.

Hydro Pump attack, the powerful current was exceptionally turbulent.

Looking at the rapidly approaching water column, Ash quickly activated his Aura barrier and commanded, ”Pika? Thunderbolt, Gardevoir Mega Evolution!”

Pikachu’s Thunderbolt met Lugia’s Hydro Pump, resulting in a evenly matched clash.

”Gardevoir, use Shadow Ball!”

After Mega Evolving, Gardevoir, upon receiving Ash’s command, instantly teleported behind Lugia, gathered Ghost-type energy in her hands, and hurled a dark orb at Lugia as an attack.

Gardevoir’s level had a huge gap compared to Lugia, and Shadow Ball was not her primary type move, so the damage caused was very limited, but it still had the effect of weakening Lugia’s Special Defense.

Ash also took the opportunity to release Zapdos and Moltres. ”Zapdos, Electric Terrain, Moltres Air Cutter!”

Looking at the two foolish birds in front of it, Lugia was a bit confused for a moment. Confused as it was, it didn’t hold back. A flap of its wings stirred up an even more violent hurricane.

The strong wind caused Pikachu and Zapdos to lose their balance and sway erratically, and Moltres’s attack was blown wildly by the hurricane.

Coincidentally, an Air Cutter was blown towards the direction of the port.

With three legendary Pokémon appearing consecutively, the Wild Trainers at the port immediately exploded into a frenzy. Some of them desperately searched for small boats that could go out to sea, while others were even more ruthless, finding a wooden board and releasing their Water-type Pokémon to pull them towards Lugia’s location.

And that blown-away Air Cutter seemed to have auto-guidance, landing in a corner of the port.

Boom!

”Ow!”

Goh let out a wail, then fainted.

”The boss was right, this kid is just a jinx. Even from dozens of nautical miles away, he can still be affected by the aftermath of the battle. There’s no one else like him.”

The ordinary members of Team Aqua, seeing Goh fall, had no intention of helping him. They all stood by and watched, with a few even taking out recording equipment.

It was evident that Goh had become a major source of amusement for Team Aqua.

Facts proved that their decision not to approach was correct. Less than thirty seconds later, a yellow current flew from the sea and landed directly on Goh.

Zzzzt!

After the Thunder Shock, the unconscious Goh was directly shocked awake, though he had some charred marks on his body.

This current was naturally released by Pikachu under Ash’s command, but it was blown away by Lugia.

”Moltres, use Wing Attack to attract Lugia’s attention. Zapdos, use Zap Cannon. Gardevoir, use Ice Beam. Pikachu, take the opportunity to fly behind Lugia and use Thunder.”

Ash gave his attack commands to Pikachu and the others through Aura.

Moltres flapped its wings, engaging in a back-and-forth battle with Lugia, successfully drawing Lugia’s aggro. Meanwhile, Zapdos charged up and unleashed a powerful Zap Cannon attack at Lugia’s abdomen. The strong current completely enveloped Lugia, paralyzing it.

Gardevoir’s attack also followed closely, and Pikachu landed behind Lugia, unleashing a full-power Thunder.

In Vermilion City, inside a research institute.

”What’s going on? Why are the instruments detecting a very strong energy reaction in the direction of the port?” Professor Cerise asked his researchers.

He had only left the lab for a short while, and his main research instrument had a big problem. Anyone would be anxious about this.

”Doctor, there is Lugia, the Guardian Of The Sea, active in the waters near the port. This energy fluctuation should be from a powerful Trainer battling Lugia,” a researcher reported.

”Lugia?”

Professor Cerise seemed to recall something, turned around, and hurried out of the research institute.

Meanwhile, Ash’s battle was nearing its end. With a 4-on-1 advantage, even though Lugia was incredibly strong, it was steadily pushed back under the combined assault.

Lugia raised its wings parallel to its head, and then a terrifying current of air condensed between its wings.

This was the exclusive move of the Lugia Family—Aeroblast.

To force Lugia to use its exclusive move, it was clear that it had been pushed to its limit. To preserve its dignity as a legendary Pokémon, it had no choice but to unleash its ultimate move and fight fiercely.

Ash also knew this was the most crucial moment. He immediately ordered, ”Gardevoir, Moonblast; Pikachu, Thunderbolt; Moltres, Ancient Power; Zapdos, use Thunder.”

To ensure nothing went wrong, Ash also manually fired an Aura Sphere to join the onslaught.

The five major moves and the terrifying Aeroblast unleashed by Lugia clashed violently in the sky.

The aftermath of the collision of these powerful moves stirred up giant waves over ten meters high, and a large section of the dark clouds in the sky was cleared by the aftermath.

The power of the aftermath affected the entire Vermilion City Port. Boats docked at the shore were constantly swaying, people on the shore were forced to close their eyes, and many girls wearing short skirts desperately held down their hems.

Compared to others who were merely buffeted by the aftermath, Goh, who was afflicted with the bad luck debuff, fully demonstrated what it meant for mortals to suffer when gods fight.

Team Aqua usually operated in the Hoenn region, and most of their bases in the Kanto region were temporarily leased. To save costs, Aoi chose the lowest-grade warehouse, which had a roof made of iron sheets and iron frames. It could withstand ordinary winds of five or six levels.

However, the aftermath of Ash and Lugia’s battle was comparable to a level nine wind, so the warehouse roof was blown off, and some iron frames collapsed and crashed down. Goh happened to be in the center of the warehouse and was then urinated on by a large iron frame falling directly on him. Although the iron frame did not hit him, a ten-centimeter long, five-centimeter thick iron plate welded to the frame detached and hit one of Goh’s dog legs.

The other Team Aqua members, seeing the dire situation, released their Pokémon to Assist them in escaping the warehouse. However, Goh, being an expendable cannon fodder, did not receive a Pokémon from Team Aqua and could only curl up next to the large iron frame to hide.

Although Goh didn’t die when the warehouse collapsed, he broke many bones and was screaming in pain. In the end, Aoi took pity on him and had someone provide simple medical treatment.

After Ash and Lugia finished their moves, Ash successfully captured Lugia with a Master Ball.

”Ding, detected Host has captured Lugia, received reward: 100,000 points, Rare Candy 1, Mind Plate (pseudo) 1, Sky Plate (pseudo) * 1.”

Mind/Sky Plate (pseudo): Imitation of a certain deity’s exclusive treasure, can be shared by two Pokémon, can be unbound at any time. After binding, it can greatly enhance the power of Psychic-type/Flying-type moves.
