Global Awakening: I'm the Only One Ready

Chapter 133. The West’s Killing Move, ICBMs Launched!

Lu Yuan stood atop Mount Tai’s Jade Emperor Peak, his gaze placid as he looked at the Spirit Monkey. Then, he went straight to the point, saying, ”Let’s continue with what we were discussing.”

He had come here with two goals in mind—to obtain that divine artifact and to help the officials take control of Mount Tai.

With those goals in mind, he spoke without hesitation at all. In a nutshell, some of Mount Tai’s spiritual fruits and exotic herbs would go to Huaxia’s officials, and there would be a peaceful coexistence between humans and the mutated beasts in Mount Tai.

Of course, this applied only to Huaxia’s top echelons; other forces would be denied entry.

”That’s....” After hearing all that, the Spirit Monkey couldn’t help but ask, ”Can I refuse?”

Now, it spoke with extreme caution as if its earlier attitude had all been a facade. After all, the human being before it was truly terrifying.

Lu Yuan chuckled in response and asked, ”What do you think?”

His face appeared calm on the surface, yet the aura emanating from him grew even more formidable. Golden vital qi manifested, and golden light flashed within his eyes.

Clearly, if the other party were to refuse, he wouldn’t mind taking action once again.

”Fine, fine fine!” the Spirit Monkey replied, trembling upon remembering that palm from earlier. ”But I have one condition—humans coming to Mount Tai cannot indiscriminately slaughter us. If you agree to that, then it’s fine.”

What choice did it have? It couldn’t defeat the human before it. Certainly, it could lead all of Mount Tai’s mutated beasts to resist and wage a war, but it would only result in mutual destruction.

Given Lu Yuan’s strength, the outcome likely wouldn’t change; they would merely be throwing their lives away.

Mount Tai was vast, and it contained a myriad of spiritual fruits and exotic herbs. Giving away some to stay alive wasn’t exactly unreasonable, especially since the Spirit Monkey harbored no deep hatred toward humans.

Most importantly, it knew Lu Yuan was strong enough to kill it and take control of the entire Mount Tai. The fact that he hadn’t done so showed that he was truly sincere when it came to this arrangement.

With that being the case, it might as well agree.

”Thank you,” Lu Yuan said, smiling.

”No worries, no worries,” the Spirit Monkey replied. Upon knowing that Lu Yuan had agreed to the arrangement, it plopped down on the ground, feeling agitated and somewhat frustrated.

Upon reaching the Golden Body Realm, it thought it could do whatever it wanted.

Who could have imagined that such a powerful human would appear?

Those watching the live broadcast were shocked, realizing that the officials had just obtained control of a famed mountain in addition to Mount Shu, and it was actually Mount Tai.

The government’s strength was bound to increase by leaps and bounds, and it was all thanks to Lu Yuan, the King of Humanity. To make things even sweeter, every Awakened affiliated with the Aurora Academy or those working with the government now had the opportunity to ascend Mount Tai and seek their own boon.

They had seen those spiritual fruits and exotic herbs with their own eyes through the live broadcast. Lu Yuan’s actions had essentially changed the destiny of most Awakened in Huaxia—a truly great accomplishment.

Below, Ji Huaiyuan and Elder Yun’s eyes flushed with excitement upon seeing that Lu Yuan and the Spirit Monkey had reached an agreement.

Success! A great success. Now that they had control over Mount Tai, they could freely enter and leave the mountain. This was a massive opportunity that would surely affect Huaxia’s future.

Zhu Qingyu and the others revealed smiles, sighing with emotion.

Fortunately, they had King Lu.

If they had been forced to rely solely on their own strength, success would have been impossible.

”Alright, get ready to end the broadcast. Let King Lu handle the rest alone,” Ji Huaiyuan ordered. He knew Lu Yuan had his own goal that could not be broadcast to the entire world.

”Elder Yun, Elder Yun!” a soldier shouted while rushing toward Elder Yun. The soldier looked panicked as he exclaimed, ”This is bad! Our instruments have detected over a hundred ICBMs five hundred kilometers away, and they’re flying toward us!”

”What?!” Elder Yun was stupefied. As expected of his standing, he calmed down pretty quickly and demanded more information.

”They employed numerous methods to interfere with our instruments, so we haven’t been able to detect them until now,” the soldier explained and added, ”The ICBMs are moving extremely fast as well, making it very difficult to intercept them.”

Even without a thermonuclear warhead, an ICBM could not be underestimated. Over a hundred combined could destroy a small city; it was truly a weapon of mass destruction.

With Huaxia’s current level of technology, intercepting ninety percent of them would already be a great feat.

”They’re definitely targeting King Lu,” Ji Huaiyuan said, his face turning cold. ”It seems that they have yet to put their foolish ambitions to rest.”

Lu Yuan’s appearance had broken the balance between the West and the East, and it was all because he was simply too powerful.

Huaxia’s officials knew they harbored thoughts of eliminating Lu Yuan, especially after he had slaughtered the Twelve Apostles. Unfortunately, they hadn’t expected the other side to be so decisive.

Meanwhile, Elder Yun was utterly furious. As the chief commander of Huaxia’s armed forces, he had always been an iron-willed individual. Upon learning of a threat to Lu Yuan’s life, killing intent blazed in his eyes.

”They must have some people on Mount Tai. Otherwise, they couldn’t be this precise. Find them!” Elder Yun roared.

”Yes!” the soldier exclaimed and rushed out to dispatch some troops.

Elder Yun also ordered the military to intercept the oncoming ICBMs.

”ICBMs move faster than sound. Since they were detected five hundred kilometers away, they should arrive within minutes.” Ji Huaiyuan looked as if fire was about to rush out of his eyes out of fury, and his fists were clenched tight beneath his sleeves.

”Should we tell King Lu to evacuate?” Elder Yun asked. In the face of so many missiles, even a mutated beast king would perish. Lu Yuan was extraordinarily powerful, but in his eyes, he was still just a human being.

If he ended up dying, the consequences would be too much for them to withstand.

Zhu Qingyu, Ice Fairy, and the others looked extremely nervous.

Could an Awakened even contend with literal missiles? Earlier, they thought everything was going fine, but they had never expected the West to intervene and try to ruin things.

”It’s too late...” Ji Huaiyuan said hoarsely while looking up.

Everyone followed his gaze, and their faces changed drastically as their hearts pounded wildly against their chests. In the distance, missile after missile appeared, streaking across the skies at extreme speed.

By the looks of it, they would hit their target in one minute at most.

At the foot of Mount Tai, anti-ballistic missiles rushed into the skies, intercepting the majority of the ICBMs in mid-air. However, dozens of them still headed straight for Mount Tai’s summit.

What could be done at this point? How could a human being survive so many missiles?

At this very moment, everyone’s hearts sank to the depths of the abyss.

To make matters even worse, Lu Yuan had just been in a fierce battle, and he was most likely exhausted. How could he handle so many missiles at once?

「Wait, what’s going on?! Are those missiles heading for the Jade Emperor Peak?!」

「Those Westerners actually launched missiles to kill King Lu!」

「Those bastards are too much!」

The people watching the broadcast cried out in alarm at the sight. The government’s top echelons were at Mount Tai, which meant the ICBMs had to have come from the West.

Everyone knew that Lu Yuan had killed the Twelve Apostles, which meant there was deep enmity between Lu Yuan and the Wests, but they hadn’t expected them to launch literal missiles against one single person.

Everyone was understandably furious, condemning the attackers. Unfortunately, there was nothing they could do about it. They could only watch helplessly as dozens of missiles headed toward Mount Tai.

Lu Yuan was about to continue his conversation with the Spirit Monkey when he noticed something amiss and looked up.

Dozens of missiles streaked across the skies in the distance, breaking the sound barrier as they approached. He instantly realized that the attackers were those powerful figures from the West, as no other force could mobilize so many missiles.

From the number of missiles, they clearly wanted to obliterate him.

It seemed that he had to start it ahead of schedule.

A rare trace of killing intent appeared in Lu Yuan’s eyes. As for the Spirit Monkey, it looked confused, but it remained highly alert, clearly sensing danger from the oncoming missiles.

”Stay put, don’t move,” Lu Yuan commanded, taking a step forward.

Hum!

His organs vibrated and let out a resonant hum as the Bloodforce Pagoda manifested at once. Unlike before, the pagoda had expanded to several meters in size, enveloping both Lu Yuan and the Spirit Monkey.

Even without a thermonuclear warhead, an ICBM remained a formidable weapon, and even Lu Yuan couldn’t simply ignore them. The Bloodforce Pagoda was one of his strongest means of defense, and it was perfect for the job of withstanding the missiles.

Everyone saw a wave of golden vital qi bursting out of Lu Yuan before materializing into an eleven-tier pagoda.

Meanwhile, dozens of ICBMs cut through the air, leaving behind a wake of shrill cries as they got closer and closer to Lu Yuan.

Everyone held their breath, faces pale.

Could King Lu withstand one of humanity’s most powerful weapons?

Moments later, the missiles struck Mount Tai.

BOOM!

A cataclysmic explosion ensued, and a massive fireball erupted from the Jade Emperor Peak, piercing the firmament.

The powerful explosion created a tempest of flames that seemed intent on reducing everything to mere ashes.

The explosion was insane; ICBMs were truly one of humanity’s strongest weapons, but Mount Tai was so big that even dozens of missiles couldn’t truly shake its foundations.

The mountain remained basically unaffected, but the live feed became distorted as quite a few drones were destroyed instantly by the explosion. In fact, only one remained; it teetered on the edge of falling off the skies, but it still did its job.

Through the lone drone, everyone saw nothing but smoke and flames. Everyone became nervous. Was King Lu still alive? Had he really survived such a terrifying attack?

Time trickled by bit by bit. As the smoke disappeared, the live feed became clearer and clearer.

Everyone was shocked to see that the ruins on the Jade Emperor Peak remained unaffected. Even the lying on the ground bore not a single crack, as if some special power was protecting them.

Then, they saw it—a figure standing tall in the midst of them all.

At the sight, everyone’s eyes widened in disbelief.
