Global Awakening: I'm the Only One Ready

The meaning behind Ji Huaiyuan’s words was simple—the great boons on Mount Tai could help Huaxia in the future by bolstering the strength of the nation’s Awakened, which would completely stabilize the nation.

It would essentially be as good as Mount Shu. Unfortunately, the top echelons were too weak to obtain it at the moment.

”So you’re hoping I’ll intervene?” Lu Yuan smiled. At this point, how could he not understand what he was trying to say? Of course, it was normal. After all, the show of strength he had displayed not too long ago was just too shocking.

”Correct, in ten days,” Ji Huaiyuan said and added, ”But rest assured, we’ll make use of modern weapons. And if you truly encounter danger, you can retreat; there’s no need to overextend yourself. We’ll also offer you certain items as a gesture of gratitude.”

Lu Yuan had no obligation to help them, which meant they had to offer some compensation. As members of the powerful Wanglong Pavilion, they could afford not to be stingy. They had also acknowledged Lu Yuan’s strength.

The Southern Sea Kraken was powerful enough and had reached the Golden Body Realm, yet what was its final fate?

Hadn’t Lu Yuan utterly crushed it? So what if Mount Tai’s mutated beasts were strong? In addition, they had clarified that if danger arose, he could retreat.

”I’ll go to Mount Tai,” Lu Yuan said, smiling as he added, ”But compensation and such won’t be necessary. If we succeed, I’ll just take one item from Mount Tai.”

Just as the top echelons suspected, Mount Tai contained many great boons, including a huge variety of spiritual fruits and exotic herbs. It could definitely create a large batch of Awakened in short order.

If he could help the nation better deal with mutated beast tides, then why would he not help? Moreover, he knew that Mount Tai harbored an incomparably powerful divine artifact.

Since they had brought it up first, he might as well make the trip.

”Great, great, great.” Ji Huaiyuan’s face lit up with joy. Since Lu Yuan had already agreed, their chances of success had just increased significantly. The rest of the elders smiled as well, as they invited Lu Yuan precisely for this matter.

The two parties talked for quite a while afterward. Lu Yuan learned a lot about the nation’s current situation from the elders. All in all, the conversation was pleasant, but Ji Huaiyuan clearly nursed some lingering regret about Lu Yuan’s unwillingness to join the Wanglong Pavilion.

”By the way, King Lu, I know you have some grievances with the Wuzhou Group, so I have to tell you that you must be wary of the Zhou Family. Their foundation runs extremely deep. Recently, they’ve even launched several satellites into deep space, and they’re definitely going to do something with those satellites.”

”And even though that Winged Celestial God is weak compared to you, his bloodline is very powerful. In fact, he’s not even from this world,” Ji Huaiyuan said with a glint of solemnity in his eyes.

In response, Lu Yuan merely nodded.

Regarding the Zhou Family, he probably knew them more than even the top echelons. After all, he had the advantage of ten years, allowing him to learn many secrets.

Of course, Ji Huaiyuan’s warning also made Lu Yuan realize that the Zhou Family was truly unfathomable, as it attracted even the Wanglong Pavilion’s attention. He only knew they were an ancient Huaxian family, and the specific details remained unclear.

However, it was clear that the Zhou Family was far more mysterious and powerful than he had imagined.

But so what?

Regardless, he still expressed his gratitude for Ji Huaiyuan and the others’ goodwill.

”There’s also the matter concerning the Vatican Church. You killed their Twelve Apostles; the Celestial Archangel will definitely not let you go. Of course, he’s no match for you, but you should watch out for those foreign nations,” one of the elders said.

Lu Yuan was Huaxian after all, and everyone present hoped nothing would happen to him, especially at the hands of that Celestial Archangel.

They had collected many pieces of intelligence, and many signs indicated that the Vatican Church intended to harm Lu Yuan. Of course, they had already made a move to address that and had simply warned Lu Yuan just in case.

”Is that so?” Lu Yuan couldn’t help but smile upon hearing that. He assumed the matter had ended in the deaths of the Twelve Apostles daring enough to provoke him. He hadn’t expected the so-called Celestial Archangel to plot against him. It seemed he would need to visit the Vatican in the future.

He looked at Ji Huaiyuan and the others, saying, ”The Global Awakening has ushered in the New Era, but I feel like this world doesn’t really need so many convoluted organizations.”

This statement made everyone present exchange bewildered glances; they clearly hadn’t understood what he was trying to say. Lu Yuan, however, had no intention of explaining. He simply stood up and smiled. ”When it’s time, tell me. For now, I’ll stay in Shen City.”

He had yet to fully digest what ought to be digested, and he was planning on using the downtime to deal with them. After this trip to Mount Tai, he would move on to his next plan.

”No problem.” Ji Huaiyuan and the others finally came to their senses.

With that, Lu Yuan left the room. Outside, Dean Zheng and the others were still waiting. Seeing him walk out of the room, they each nodded in acknowledgment.

Though they didn’t know what was discussed inside, everyone understood that the top echelons regarded Lu Yuan highly, and perhaps his status exceeded theirs.

Lu Yuan smiled back at them and headed back to the accommodation Commander Zhang had arranged for him. Instead of sitting down cross-legged, he retrieved some items from the Meridian Heavenmend Furnace—the divine artifacts he had obtained from those apostles.

These items could push the Great Luo Sword Embryo into greater heights, so he wouldn’t just throw them away. There were quite a few of them as well.

Lu Yuan placed the divine artifacts next to the sword embryo, allowing the latter to devour the divine artifacts on its own.

Mount Tai is the foremost of the Five Sacred Mountains, and many Feng and Shan sacrifices were held there. In my previous life, I never really had the chance to go there. In this life, however, I should be able to obtain that item.

He had told Ji Huaiyuan and the others that he would make a move, but he would take one item from Mount Tai. This was one of the reasons he had agreed. After all, Mount Tai would soon undergo another transformation.

Making a move by then would be more troublesome; now was the best time to do so.

Exhaling a breath of turbid air, Lu Yuan cast aside all thoughts and looked at the Great Luo Sword Embryo. It would devour the divine artifacts and become stronger on its own, so he need not worry about it.

Now, Lu Yuan just had to wait for his trip to Mount Tai in ten days. Until then, he could continue digesting his gains and break more genetic shackles.

With that, Lu Yuan entered seclusion once again. With his current status and strength, no one would dare disturb him.

Time went by just like that, and the discussions about Lu Yuan finally began to go down, as several major events replaced him.

First of all, the government’s top echelons had announced a plan to seize Mount Tai. In ten days, they would attempt to expel or kill the mutated beasts within, and they had apparently invited King Lu to join the expedition.

Secondly, someone saw a white dragon flying out of Kunlun. The dragon apparently spanned a thousand meters and sported two wings. Everyone suspected it to be the legendary Yinglong.
