Global Awakening: I'm the Only One Ready

It had been several days since the mutated beast tide. Since the creatures couldn’t breach Shen City, everyone’s lives remained unaffected, and they went on their daily lives as before.

Over the past few days, however, crowds inundated the Defense Corps’ garrison upon hearing that the King of Humanity, who had single-handedly stopped the mutated beast tide, was temporarily residing in the garrison. They came in droves to express their gratitude in person, but none of them succeeded.

Commander Zhang, believing Lu Yuan preferred not to be disturbed, turned away all visitors. Even so, they came daily. To the people of Shen City, Lu Yuan was a true hero, after all.

Meanwhile, a detached building standing amidst the garrison remained undisturbed. No noises could be heard from within it, and the footsteps of the patrolling armed soldiers were the only noises that occasionally disturbed the tranquility of the building.

Lu Yuan sat cross-legged inside the building.

The aura emanating from him pulsed with streams of golden energy. His entire being was shrouded in golden radiance, dyeing even his hair with the same aureate light. The power emanating from within him was enough to make anyone’s heart tremble.

If a third party were here, they would realize that Lu Yuan’s heartbeat sounded as thunderous as the beating of war drums.

With each beat, a golden eleven-tier pagoda would manifest before him and disappear as quickly as it appeared. Fortunately, the building was made with exceptional and special materials. Otherwise, it would have collapsed under the sheer pressure emanating from Lu Yuan.

If there were any outsiders here, they would surely think of him as a god.

Of course, there was more to this than what the naked eye could see.

Lu Yuan had been in seclusion to digest the gains he had made so far. It was a great decision. Over these few short days, he shattered ten more genetic shackles, and his strength reached new heights.

Lu Yuan sat cross-legged and looked inward to find his organs glowing. Golden blood flowed through him like magma, and even his blood seemed to be giving off a powerful aura.

In truth, he could evolve to the Golden Body Realm within days and elevate his strength even further. However, Lu Yuan had chosen not to do so; he was not going to sacrifice his future for immediate gains.

In his eyes, he had to shatter all 108 genetic shackles first before making a breakthrough into the Golden Body Realm. Otherwise, he would never reach the apex.

In addition, his goal wasn’t just invincibility in this world.

He also wanted to be invincible in the Outer Cosmos!

Why else had he spent so much time preparing everything?

”Wheeew...”

Soon, the light around Lu Yuan faded away as he exhaled a stream of turbid air, which took on the shape of a dragon. Behind him, the eighth grotto-heaven manifested, containing a true god within.

”I guess there’s no need for me to seek out divine artifacts for the time being. What I have at the moment is enough for me to shatter more genetic shackles and manifest more grotto-heavens,” Lu Yuan murmured to himself with a smile.

For someone with his talent, breaking genetic shackles had become easier after the twelfth one. After all, the Bodhi Tree provided him with a billionfold talent amplification—a notion that ordinary people couldn’t even begin to imagine.

Moreover, there were still those divine artifacts and blood essence Shennong had left behind. They were unique treasures unlike any other.

The Primordial Dragon Breathing Technique demanded a ton of resources to practice, and his formidable foundation compensated for it in the short term.

In other words, even if Lu Yuan were to simply live off his accumulated resources without doing anything, he would still achieve great feats in the future. After all, his foundations were just too deep.

Almost no one could compare to him in the world.

In other words, I should focus on digesting and consolidating what I already have.

With that in mind and having made his decision, Lu Yuan decided to postpone his other plans and focus entirely on digesting what he had already obtained. He was like someone who had eaten their fill; he could still consume more, but it would cause indigestion.

It was better to eat within his overall capacity.

Of course, this was only made possible by his terrifying foundations. If anyone else were in his shoes, they would have exploded a long time ago.

Without dwelling on it any further, Lu Yuan stood and stretched; his body immediately sang in harmony as his muscles and bones resonated with each other.

Even though his strength was completely concealed, he still emanated a powerful, oppressive presence. With a casual wave, streams of lightning energy surged in his hand. His left hand bloomed with wisps of Buddhist lights. Thanks to the Bodhi Tree, he had a masterful grasp of Buddhist and Daoist divine art.

At this point, all he had to do was become even stronger.

The Heaven-Earth Sword legacy from Mount Shu, however, proved more troublesome. It was extremely profound, proving that it surpassed those two.

However, Lu Yuan wasn’t anxious. He had plenty of time.

It’s been several days. The top echelons should be here by now, shouldn’t they?

After some light exercise, he checked the date. The so-called ”superiors” Commander Zhang had mentioned had to have reached Shen City by now.

Sure enough, a figure appeared outside his room. It was none other than Commander Zhang. Seeing Lu Yuan, he said, ”King Lu, they are here. I’ll take you to them.”

”King Lu?” Lu Yuan couldn’t help but feel puzzled.

Commander Zhang smiled and proceeded to explain. He told Lu Yuan that the people had decided to honor him for his achievements by addressing him using the word ”King.”

Lu Yuan had no idea what to say upon hearing that, but he didn’t really care about it, so he wouldn’t make a fuss over it when it was just a trivial matter. He nodded and said, ”Lead the way.”

Commander Zhang didn’t hesitate and led him forward. The Defense Corps’ garrison was restricted territory, off-limits to civilians, and it was filled mostly with soldiers and modern weaponry. There were also a few training grounds for the Awakened.

Soon, the two arrived before a room in the central building of the garrison.

Many people had already gathered, and among them were several faces Lu Yuan was familiar with. He saw Dean Zheng, along with the four other deans from the Aurora Academy’s branches. There was also Commander Xu from Chang’an, along with the Defense Corps Commanders from the three other supercities.

More importantly, Ji Yuzhen from Polaris Biotech was there as well.

Lu Yuan was stunned upon seeing them. The people before him could be considered the most powerful individuals of the nation, and they were all standing before him.

A show of sincerity? Lu Yuan immediately understood what was going on. The upper echelons wanted to see him, and for the sake of dispelling all doubts, they had simply gathered everyone to demonstrate their seriousness and sincerity.

”King Lu, the elders are all waiting for you inside. You can enter once you’re ready,” Dean Zheng said. Among those present, he was the most familiar with Lu Yuan and was thus less formal.

The ”elders”? I guess I really am about to meet the top echelons. Lu Yuan smiled and walked straight in.
