Chapter 178 – 140: Is the Drama Already Here? (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)_4

After all, unlike Jenny, she hadn’t witnessed Reine killing Andrews and the other Blackflame monks with her own eyes.

However, Jenny knew that Reine was probably “acting”, though she didn’t understand the purpose of his act.

Reine couldn’t possibly tell Jenny that he was doing it to “farm a round of experience”.

“My lady mother, there’s no need to worry overly.”

“I feel, well, Lord Reine seems to be feigning weakness deliberately, although I’m not sure why he would do such a thing,” Jenny whispered to Baroness Crawley.

“Hmm? Is that so?” Baroness Crawley glanced at Jenny and noticed her daughter’s expression didn’t seem to be one of mere consolation.

After all, even a well-meaning lie would soon be exposed by the upcoming contests.

Reine, standing at the center of the arena, said, “Since Knight Sheldon has taken an interest, I shall naturally comply.”

Sheldon’s face lit up with a pleased expression at Reine’s agreement.

Seemingly unwilling to leave Reine time to recover his strength, Sheldon burst forth with all his might, wielding his hammer and shield as he charged swiftly towards Reine.

However, after a fierce onslaught, Sheldon found Reine’s defense to be as solid as a rock.

Despite Reine’s appearance of weariness throughout, he looked as though, with just a bit more effort from Sheldon, he could be overcome.

Five minutes later.

The bald-headed Knight Sheldon, drenched in sweat and gasping for breath, realized he still hadn’t managed to defeat Reine, and bellowed in discontent:

“You… this is impossible!”

“You should be exhausted by now; how can you still hold out for so long!”

Reine simply smiled slightly, saying, “Perhaps, as Knight Stein just mentioned, it’s because I’m young and thus have better stamina.”

With that, Reine sent Sheldon flying with his hammer, ending the fight.

Since Sheldon was already out of strength, Reine naturally had no intention of continuing the “act”.

The system prompt then appeared:

[Your Skill Tokkal Hammer Technique has improved, Experience +67]

[You have gone through a battle, Knight (Transcendent) Professional Experience Points +22]

Tsk tsk!

Age really does affect one’s stamina.

These experience points aren’t even as high as the ones from Stein just now!

Reine silently critiqued in his mind.

On their way here, Jenny had also indicated her position to him concerning the two Crawley family knights.

If possible, Jenny had hoped that Reine would not kill or severely injure the two men.

After all, they had served the Crawley family for many years and had not shown any intention of rebellion; their desires were more oriented toward the Crawley family’s beauty and wealth.

Therefore, Jenny hoped Reine could simply deter the two men.

Considering the Crawley family’s request, Reine gave it some thought before agreeing.

After all, it was a request from the Crawley family themselves, and there was no need for him, a Guardian Knight, to overdo it, especially since anything that happened later would be the family’s own business.

The onlookers weren’t fools; after watching two contests in succession, they also sensed something amiss.

At the end of the first match, Reine seemed to have overexerted himself and shouldn’t have been able to hold out for long, but now, at the end of the second match, he seemed to be in high spirits as he strolled off the field, currently chatting with Lady Crawley.

Meanwhile, many young noble ladies on the sidelines, having seen Reine’s performance, began whispering amongst themselves.

Especially Agatha Wiggins, one of Jenny’s close friends, rushed excitedly to Jenny’s side and said:

“Jenny, your taste is getting better and better! Where did you find such a handsome young man? Not only is he strong, but his stamina is incredible. You are so lucky!”

While speaking, she also gave Jenny a teasing look.

“Agatha, don’t talk nonsense. Reine is our family’s new Guardian Knight, and besides, it was my mother who found him, it has nothing to do with me,” Jenny said somewhat shyly, understanding the insinuation in her friend’s words.

“Oh, so it was Baroness Crawley? I never thought she liked them young, giggle.”

“You’re terrible, saying such things in broad daylight,” Jenny retorted.

The two young noblewomen immediately started jesting and playing around with each other.

After the contest, Reine requested from Baroness Crawley to make a trip to the military supply office in the County Town.

Although both Jenny and the Baroness would have liked Reine to stay at the estate and socialize more with the guests, Reine had no interest in doing so.

At present, he hadn’t passed the nobility’s accreditation test and wasn’t strictly speaking a noble yet.

On the other hand, Reine felt that socializing would only be meaningful once he reached a certain threshold of status and position.

However, there was an appointment ceremony and banquet at the Crawley family estate that evening, which Reine was bound to attend.

Reine took the carriage arranged by the Crawley family to the northern military supply office in the County Town.

Located next to the City Guard’s camp, the supply office in the County Town was responsible for the merit exchange matters of the internal defense troops, including the City Guard, Night Watchmen, and public order officers.

After showing the badge that represented his position as Deputy Officer of Public Safety in Flashgold Town, Reine was allowed to enter. He had received the badge along with his appointment, serving as a replacement for his previous Night Watchman Captain’s badge.

Upon entering the military supply room, Reine found it to be several times larger than the one in Flashgold Town, with four or five young and attractive female clerks in uniform stationed there.

The setup gave him a feeling reminiscent of the service halls of his previous life.
