Chapter 164 – 135: It seems like a chaotic slaughter!

Next up was the Knight (Transcendent) panel.

The options here are much wider.

Rein’s first thought was to add points to break the limit value.

Breaking the limit is a burst enhancement of bodily attributes that boosts strength, agility, and constitution significantly during its activation.

Due to the previous increase of two points in constitution, Rein’s current limit-breaking value had reached 40%.

It seemed that constitution was more positively correlated to the bodily limit break compared to agility.

A 40% limit-breaking value meant that after activating the limit break, Rein’s strength, agility, and constitution would all increase by 40%, sending his combat power skyrocketing!

The capabilities of a seasoned Knight would be fully demonstrated!

Moreover, with four skill points currently in Rein’s hands, if they were all invested into the limit-breaking value, it could directly hit 80%!

Tsk tsk!

That would surpass the 60% threshold and step into the realm of a Peak Knight!

At the same time, Rein’s two transcendent traits, ‘Huge Strength lv2’ and ‘Iron Skin lv2’, could also smoothly progress to lv3.

With both effects combined, his strength would make leaps and bounds!

This fully reflected the saying, “The extent of limit break largely determines a Knight’s combat strength!”

Another option for adding points was the Giant Bear Sword Technique.

Rein’s Giant Bear Sword Technique was currently at lv6, and to advance it in the proper order, it would require a whole 3000 experience points to reach lv7.

Clearly, assigning skill points to any lv6 skill would result in a considerable savings in time and benefits.

Not to mention, the Giant Bear Sword Technique was Rein’s main combat skill, and reaching lv7 would also provide an immediate and significant boost to his combat power.

In addition, investing points in the Giant Bear Breathing Technique also seemed like a decent choice, and high-level practice of the technique would surely enhance his strength and constitution quickly.

Of course, the effects of adding points to the Giant Bear Breathing Technique would not be apparent in just a day or two.

Even at the quickest, it would take a month or two to gradually see the value of the added points.

Beyond these options, the core skill ‘danger perception lv3′ was also a good choice, especially since core skills can only be improved by adding skill points, not by accumulating experience points like other skills, which could naturally be ground out over time if there was no rush.

But core skills are different, as one simply can’t grind them out!

Speaking of core skills, Rein couldn’t help but remember another core skill he had long neglected—’Hammer Mastery’.

[Hammer Mastery lv1 (Passive) Effect: The host receives a slight increase in damage when using any hammer-type weapon.]

Rein was no longer as ignorant of the system as he was in the beginning.

After reading the system’s description of Hammer Mastery a couple more times, Rein vaguely guessed that if he invested points in it, the effect would likely change to ‘small increase’ and then to ‘large increase’.

This made Rein narrow his eyes as his mind started to race.

“Maybe I shouldn’t be swinging around wildly without care!”

“But it seems, in time, I could be swinging around with impact!”

Thus, Rein took out a thin booklet he had found, which was the ‘Tokkal Hammer Technique Outline’.

After studying ‘Tokkal’s Hammer Technique Outline’, he found that Tokkal Hammer Technique was very similar to the Giant Bear Sword Technique, but even more extreme with no defensive moves—all were offensive!

‘Giant hammer strike,’ ‘giant hammer jump strike,’ and ‘giant hammer sweep’ all confirmed this.

Soon after, Rein received a system notification:

[You have studied the Tokkal Hammer Technique, comprehension improved!]

[You have grasped a new skill—Tokkal Hammer Technique]

[Your skill Tokkal Hammer Technique has improved, experience +1]

Rein opened the Knight (Transcendent) profession panel, and saw that among the ten or so skill icons below, a new one was lit up.

Tokkal Hammer Technique lv1 (1/100).

The icon was simple, depicting two large hands holding a huge hammer, appearing very powerful.

As for practicing Hammer Skill, Rein thought of the ‘hammer tire flipping training’ from his previous life, which seemed to be one of the most common strength training methods in various fighting disciplines.

Swinging a big hammer might look simple, but its function is quite complex!

It can not only fully exercise a person’s rotational explosive power, but also develop the stabilizing strength of the waist, abdomen, and other core muscle groups.

Of course, for Rein, with his 18-point Constitution and 15-point Strength, this process was somewhat redundant.

What he really needed now was a sparring partner to help him quickly improve his Hammer Skill level.

Thinking of this, the first person that came to Rein’s mind was the ‘shield master’ Lagaray!

However, it was a bit late, and after some thought, Rein decided to wait until tomorrow morning.

Throughout the night, Emma tossed and turned unable to sleep, waking old Rein numerous times with questions:

“Ah, didn’t you see how Rein was today?”

“How does Rein manage to kill so calmly?”

“How many people has Rein actually killed?”

“This can’t be the first time he’s killed someone, can it?”

“….”

Though very sleepy, old Rein still gently held Emma’s hand, patting it lightly, and comforted her:

“Don’t overthink it, I know you got a scare, go to sleep early, it’ll be fine after a while, don’t be afraid.”

In fact, Emma had felt a sudden jolt in her heart ever since she had witnessed her son Rein, with a calm complexion, kill several Black Flame monks.

Because she had never seen such a cold side of Rein before. Enjoy new tales from m

Once asleep, she would remember that scene, and the calm expression on Rein’s face as he killed.

Late into the night, old Rein finally got a little fed up with Emma’s anxiety and said in annoyance,

“Think of it this way, if Rein hadn’t killed them, wouldn’t you be one of those lying on the ground?”

“Also, have you forgotten the state your friend Sima ended up in?”

This left Emma speechless for quite some time!

Sima was her best friend, and Rein knew her well, but this time, she too had met a grisly end in the church, at the hands of the cultists, especially that horrific ritual that reduced a person of about one hundred seventy or eighty pounds to just over forty pounds of dried corpse.

The terror of that sight made Emma shiver just by thinking about it!

“Yeah, if my own son didn’t kill them, they would have killed me!” Emma murmured to herself.

Suddenly, Emma felt an inexplicable sense of safety in Rein’s calm demeanor while he was killing!

The next morning, when Rein sat down for breakfast, he was startled by old Rein’s dark eye bags.

“Father, what’s this… Did you not rest well last night?”

Old Rein glanced at Emma and said, “It’s alright, just some mosquitoes buzzing non-stop in the middle of the night, barely got them killed before dawn was upon us!”

Rein was taken aback as he looked outside at the chilly weather of early winter and thought, are there still mosquitoes at this time of year?

After breakfast, just when Rein was about to go find Lagaray to practice some Hammer Skill, George’s familiar voice came from outside the door.

“Is Rein there?”

Upon hearing this, Rein immediately opened the door and went out.

Seeing Rein, George stepped forward to compare their heights and his eyes suddenly widened as he exclaimed,

“Hiss! Rein, you… are you really Rein?”

Although Rein had already grown as tall as he was half a month ago, now he was a bit taller than George!

This left George looking at Rein with a face full of disbelief, “Rein, how… how did you grow so fast!”

“No, no, that’s not important!”

“What I want to ask you is, the person who slaughtered the cultists in the church square yesterday, the one who saved us, was it you?”

As George asked this question, his gaze was fixed intently on Rein.

Rein thought for a moment and decided not to hide it, nodding and saying, “George, yes, that was indeed me!”

“Rein, I knew it was you! And they still didn’t believe me!” said George excitedly.

“No, wait!”

“Rein, doesn’t that mean you’ve already stepped into the Transcendent and become a formal Knight?” George asked belatedly.

Rein looked at his friend and nodded again.

Although he didn’t want to admit it in front of his good friend George, some things were gradually becoming harder to conceal.

After all, by now, the Night Watchmen of Flashgold Town could pretty much vouch for his strength.

“Rein… Rein! You… I… Does this mean I now have a friend who’s a formal Knight?” George stammered in wonder.

“Of course, unless you don’t consider me your friend!” Rein gave George a friendly punch on the chest and smiled.

At this moment, George’s expression was incredibly complex!

How did Rein become a Knight so quickly?

This is just too fast!

And on top of that, I actually have a friend who’s a formal Knight!

That’s just too cool!

For a while, a myriad of thoughts swirled through George’s young mind!

Half an hour later.

Training grounds of the Administrative Hall.

Lagaray picked out an ironwood axe and held a freshly repaired giant round shield, while Rein gripped a several dozen pound oak hammer, and the two took their positions in the arena.

Lagaray tapped the large shield with her ironwood axe, signaling with a crisp sound, “Come on!”

“Lagaray, you better be careful then.”

Rein pushed off with his left foot and rushed swiftly towards Lagaray. When he was a few meters away, he leaped, swinging the oak hammer down in a forceful overhead giant hammer strike.

It was the Tokkal Hammer Technique’s “giant hammer jump strike”!

Lagaray didn’t back down but instead jumped up high, lifting her shield for a heavy shield strike!

“Bam!!”

A dull sound of hammer meeting shield echoed!

Lagaray, airborne, felt a powerful Shock force reverberate through her shield, sending her flying back several meters.

Immediately, she looked at Rein with astonishment.

Wasn’t it said that he had just learned Hammer Skill?

How could he be so powerful already!
