Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

The image of the Nine-Life Cat Demon in Yang Yu’s mind became increasingly vivid.

There’s no mistake; the Nine-Life Cat Demon is an artificial intelligence created by ancient humans.

”The Queen mentioned earlier, what specific work does your tribe do to maintain the Magic System?”

The All-knowing Queen waved her fingers, and cups of steaming hot cocoa descended from the sky, landing before Yang Yu and the others:

”Explaining it piece by piece will take quite some time.

The operation of the labyrinth and Teleportation Magic are work within our responsibilities.

The book you brought also contains relevant content.

If you decipher every bit thoroughly, you’ll also understand the mystery of our existence.”

”Then I must trouble Her Majesty the Queen.”

Handing the book back to the All-knowing Queen, Yang Yu took out his notes.

The All-knowing Queen slowly opened the first page of the book, projecting the content into mid-air, unveiling that dusty past to Yang Yu and the others.

The person who wrote this book is named ”Fengte,” he lived in an era that was incomparably prosperous yet filled with despair.

As the murals in the underground ruins of Fairyland narrate, humans evolved from ancient apes; they learned to forge stone tools, gradually differentiating from other beasts, and eventually embarked on the magnificent history of civilization.

Due to the limited technological level of early humans, it was challenging to overcome geographical barriers, and thus, civilizations relying on different environments were also vastly different.

People living by the sea usually took fishing as a profession, the ocean became their god; people living on open grasslands lived by herding, the grasslands became their god; people living by the rivers survived through farming crops, and the rivers and earth nourishing the crops became their gods.

Their reverence for nature led to the formation of their initial beliefs.

With continuous advances in productivity, the human population kept increasing, and tribal territories continuously expanded; two different civilizations would inevitably come into contact.

Civilizations with different cultures would inevitably have differences over certain matters.

If these differences were not properly handled between two civilizations, it would inevitably provoke war.

They wanted to eliminate people with different cultures or make those people their servants, thus winning greater benefits and living space for themselves.

Under such circumstances, the leader capable of leading a successful war would inevitably become the object of admiration among the masses, gradually being endowed with a divine status.

They became the ”gods” of their tribe.

Sometimes, reverence for nature and those given divine status may be glued together due to certain ”connections” in people’s minds.

Nature gods gradually acquired a defined image, and those given divine status were pushed to unreachable heights.

It’s hard to say whether this was a good thing or a bad thing.

Sometimes, even among people living within the same tribe, there would be significant differences; yet, as long as something subtly connected them, their differences diminished significantly, allowing them to strive together for a common goal.

The ”king” can be said to be an inevitable product of the era.

Compared to constructed gods, as leaders, they were more ”close” to gods than anyone else; naturally, they became objects of universal admiration.

Unfortunately, they were not gods.

Everyone has their lifespan; finding a suitable successor before one’s time is up is a very critical matter.

Logically, only the strongest within the tribe should inherit the title of ”king,” and in animals, only the strongest can become the leader among them.

But self-centered genes will disrupt this.

In the course of time, incompetents will inevitably acquire the title of ”king.”

Incompetent kings greatly diminish the divine status of kings; dissatisfied with their rule, people will rise against them.

A long period passed, with world history constantly recycling between new and old kings.

When a catastrophe occurred that no prayer to gods could forgive, people gradually questioned the gods, reconsidered the world, and researched the world.

When knowledge accumulated to a certain extent, they would possess the power to progress forward.

Things previously unknown became understood, and things previously impossible became possible; humans grew increasingly stronger in the river of history.

Sadly, the characteristics of humans as beings did not change much.

Among the vast population of humans, some people exhibited their greed vividly; they wanted to become the ”king” of the new world, enjoy privileges beyond countless others, and display their superiority.

The world, fortunately, had someone who saw through those people’s intentions.

They possessed exceptionally outstanding skills, but they did not seek supreme power for themselves; instead, they thought of ways for people like themselves to get more rightful power.

Yet, the world is extremely cruel.

Whoever possesses stronger Strength will have more speaking power over Vorquis.

Become king or be defeated.

History is written by winners.

No matter how reasonable one’s arguments may be, as long as a powerful winner holds a strong opposing view, without a way to topple the winner, there is no way to prove one’s point.

Fortunately, even powerful winners do not always maintain their strength.

They overturned their opponents and told the world ”the king is dead.”

Even if kings of different meanings tried to restore themselves again and again, they still defended their fruits of victory.

Standing on history was no longer the leader of a particular group but a group named humanity.

To unite more people, as well as to protect their fruits of victory, they created a unique ”legend,” just like past humans did.

However, different from other legends, this legend truly existed.

Simply summarizing the legend and its descendants would evoke the feeling of a grain in the sands of time, marveling at the world’s simplicity and complexity.

The name of that legend is ”Luca.”

The offspring of ”Luca” naturally refer to the billions of life forms living in this world.

Under the guidance of the Luca legend, humans united as never before, with technology achieving unprecedented advancements.

Interstellar exploration and interstellar colonization became the hottest topics of that time.

Streets and corners, regardless of age or profession, were filled with aspirations and expectations for the future.

Once interstellar exploration and colonization became possible, the question of whether there are other life forms in the vast universe became another hot topic discussed everywhere.

”Fengte,” who wrote this diary, was born in such a time.

But several years before Fengte was born, the world’s top scientists reached an extremely grim conclusion:

”We have explored one-third of the known universe.

We have discovered many Earth-like planets and sent probes to investigate.

Yet, regrettably, none show any signs of life.

Everyone, you must be prepared.

Perhaps, in this vast universe, we are alone.”
