Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Facing Yang Yu’s questioning, the purple flames under the Demon King Helmet flickered continuously.

Yang Yu didn’t say anything else, quietly waiting for the Demon King’s response.

After a long time, the Demon King spoke slowly:

”From your current behavior, you are indeed somewhat different from others.

Knowing the whole truth, what do you plan to do?

What can you change?

Even if you are not acting for your own benefit, there are still countless others in this world acting for their own.

You must be clear that everything you do now will be labeled as colluding with the Demon Clan, and they will exclude dissenters.

Such things, past Demon Kings have witnessed countless times...”

”But in this world, there are also many people who can accept new ideas.

Their thoughts are not unchangeable.

For example, me; if it was before, I would not have had the Courage to let my companions go first and come here alone.

I also wouldn’t have come here to have a dialogue with you; I would have rushed forward without a word, loudly questioning ’Why are you harming the people of this world,’ ’Why are you launching a war,’ and attacking you with a knife.”

Yang Yu smiled anew at the Demon King,

”Your current choices and thoughts are also influenced by some things after becoming the Demon King.

I admit that some people’s thoughts are completely fixed, and reversing their decades-old mindset is incredibly difficult.

Frankly, I happen to have such an idiot in my team.

In the early and mid stages of my adventures, she was basically of little use and even caused some minor troubles.

However, she wasn’t always like that and eventually changed.

People often say a person’s nature is like a dog that can’t stop eating feces, never changing.

Maybe such people do exist.

The world is extremely vast, we can never know for sure what kind of people truly exist in it.

I don’t want to deny all possibilities because of some people.

Similarly, I won’t deny that there are some in the Demon Clan who thirst for peaceful coexistence with us just because the Demon Clan is extremely brutal in this world.

Hence, I stand here now trying to communicate with Lord Demon King, attempting to understand past truths.

Then, based on the truths I understand, I will decide my next course of action.

If Lord Demon King still refuses, unwilling to try to communicate with me, planning to kill us all indiscriminately.

We will be left with only the path of resistance.”

Every word Yang Yu spoke was comprehensive, the purple light under the Demon King Helmet swirled wildly,

”Your previous words were extraordinarily captivating.

I can barely resist applauding you, it’s been a long time since I’ve encountered someone who can speak words that shake me.

But what you said is ultimately an ideal situation.

This world has nothing without cost.

Even if you bend down to pick up a stone, it takes your energy.

Whether something is worth doing largely depends on cost and reward.

If you can’t use any tools or Magic, would you climb a fifteen-meter high tree to pick a rotten fruit?

Even if we painstakingly spread the truth across this world, how many would be willing to believe us and join us then?

Think it over.

You asked earlier if past Demon Kings suffered losses in this respect.

Correct.

They once exhausted their efforts communicating with the people of this world.

Only to be betrayed in the end, their efforts wasted.”

”So you’ve chosen the simplest and most convenient means?”

”Not just the simplest and most convenient means, but also the most conservative.

Precisely because of the uncertainty of this world, I have adopted such methods.

Rather than risking an unfavorable outcome by understanding others step by step as you said, it’s better to adopt such a strategy from the start.

We’ve tried many times, through incredibly long years, none can say for sure what the future holds.

Including you, three Angel Envoys of the goddess have descended this time.

The goddess’s Strength is becoming stronger, we have little chance left.

Biological nature is to seek benefit and avoid harm, this world probably is the same.

How much do you understand about ancient civilizations? Are you aware of the existence of ’Luca’?

Why do they take ’Luca’ as their sign?

Can the people of this world truly understand ’Luca’?

To maintain their power, those in high positions, even if aware of Luca’s existence, so what?

They would likely still follow their nature.

Life, in essence, is competition and adaptation.

When the same life is isolated in different spaces, competition and adaptation will cause them to have differences.

If two isolated spaces are reintegrated, two races that have changed find it difficult to merge, what awaits them is new competition and adaptation.

Whoever has stronger Strength will have more say.

For Humans, this is also true.

Their competition could be even more brutal.

Among Humans, there is something called emotion.

Emotion can interfere with one’s decision-making to a certain extent.

Even if it started as a dispute over interests, once it sinks into endless hatred, wanting to settle or minimize issues is nearly impossible.

Unless one side can offer a larger cake of benefits, bowing to the other.

But can you ensure this wouldn’t make the receiving side develop endless superiority, demanding more from the compromising side, pushing their limits?

We, the Demon Clan, have come to this world time and again to achieve our goals...

We also tried to change your perceptions, unfortunately...

Since this world considers us a group of brutal people, I don’t mind bearing this reputation, acting as expected of us until our goals are completely achieved.

Kid, I know far more than you.

Can you understand even half of what I say now?”

Chin in hand, deep in thought, Yang Yu answered: ”I can understand most of it!

I roughly know what you’re thinking now.

You have your considerations for making these choices.

I’m gradually able to understand some of your thoughts.

To be honest, I’m not sure whether what I’m doing now is right or wrong.

Perhaps one day, I might suddenly realize everything I did was wrong.

Even if you really tell me the truth, I will mostly retain a skeptical attitude...

But, I will think.

Not just believing one side’s words, but listening to all voices I can hear, and then making judgments from them.

This judgment might be biased due to my life experience.

But at least, it allows me to persist on some matters.

Just like now.”
