Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

The houses were easily destroyed, but rather than fleeing, the villagers who lived there picked up various weapons and stood against the gigantic bull-headed monster.

”Monster! Get out of our village!”

These villagers had lived here for generations, and even when faced with this enormous creature as tall as their houses, they wanted to defend their homeland and protect their property.

A few dazzling lights flashed by, and though the bull-headed monster did not strike, the surrounding villagers who were preparing to attack were blasted away, crashing into nearby huts, barely clinging to life.

Dozens of Lizard people with purple scales landed one after another next to the bull-headed monster. The largest of the Lizard people spoke:

”Master Giant Power, please give the orders.”

Stuffing all the remaining pork into his mouth, the bull-man from the Human Demon Clan, known as Giant Power, casually wiped the blood mixed with grease on his shoulder’s long hair, which instantly took on a shiny gloss.

”Too slow.

I dealt with two or three villages by myself on the way here.

I sent you to deal with one village, and with so many of you, it still took such a long time.”

”Master Giant Power, your strength is extraordinary. Even if we add up our power, we are no match for you.

It’s not that we’re slow, but that you’re too fast.”

Giant Power laughed immediately, thoroughly enjoying the flattery from his subordinates.

”Take action.

As previously stated, don’t worry about those who escape.

Let them spread the bloodshed and fear.

Let others know the consequences of being enemies with our Demon Clan.

Anyone who dares to resist, kill without mercy.”

With that, the Lizard people with purple scales quickly dispersed and infiltrated the village.

A man embedded in the wall just crawled out and grabbed a fallen weapon when a flash of purple light flew past him.

In an instant, he was decapitated, blood splattering everywhere.

For a moment, screams of terror, cries, angry roars, fleeing footsteps, and the howls of livestock rang out in the small village.

Soon after, the village gradually fell silent.

The chaotic sounds turned into a thick scent of blood, permeating the air.

The gigantic bull-headed cadre from the Demon Clan yawned, sniffed the air, seemingly smelling something pleasant amidst the scent of blood.

He casually lifted a roof, ignoring the couple by the stove clutching at their bleeding throats and convulsing, and grabbed a jar of wine, pouring its contents into his mouth.

He licked his lips and burped contentedly:

”The brewing technology in this world is really poor.

It doesn’t taste good at all.

Quickly finish up here and head to the next destination.

The next stop is supposedly a larger town.

I hope there are some strong opponents there, so this raid doesn’t seem so boring.

Only by defeating those strong ones will they realize the greatness of the Demon Clan.”

Giant Power strode through the not-so-wide streets.

Suddenly, he heard rustling sounds coming from an alley.

A scrawny adult man with a few children huddled in a crevice formed by a collapsed house.

They had barely found this hiding spot in the chaos, avoiding the pursuit of the Demon Clan, and seeing the invading Demons about to leave, but who knew...

Not every child has an exceptionally strong mentality in such cruel scenes.

A child about seven or eight years old, hearing the approaching footsteps, mistakenly thought the Demon had discovered their hiding spot, and started crying.

The adult beside him immediately covered his mouth.

They held their breath together, silently praying that the Demon would not discover them.

Giant Power’s footsteps halted abruptly, glancing around.

A subordinate next to Giant Power asked, ”What’s wrong, Master Giant Power?”

Shaking his head side to side, Giant Power resumed his steps, saying dejectedly, ”Maybe I heard wrong.”

As the footsteps faded, the man protecting the children and the children themselves simultaneously breathed a sigh of relief.

Just then, a crackling sound reached the ears of the children and the man.

”Get down!”

The man pushed all the children to the ground, shielding them beneath himself.

Sturdy timbers shattered, and in a flash, wood splinters flew in all directions, piercing into the man’s back, and red blood poured from his wounds, dripping onto the hand of a child.

The child who had accidentally made a sound earlier was in tears, apologizing with a choked voice:

”I’m sorry, I’m sorry, it’s my fault! If I hadn’t made a sound just now...”

The man comforted the boy underneath him, ”It’s okay.

It’s human instinct.

If you haven’t overcome your instincts, it means your ability isn’t enough yet.

I can’t protect you anymore; whether you can survive depends on you now.

You must live on...

”

With fading consciousness, the man tried hard to prop himself up, encouraging the children beneath him.

The large-bodied Giant Power smoothed out the jagged end of a broken column with a wave of his hand, looking at the injured man and the children beneath him as if they were mere livestock.

”I thought it was something worthwhile.

Turns out it’s just a bunch of annoying rats.

At this age, you’re of no use.

In that case...

Reunion with your family underground!”

Giant Power swung his massive hand like swatting a fly, aiming at the man.

At the critical moment, a shining Light Arrow pierced through the air, mercilessly puncturing Giant Power’s hand, leaving a gaping hole.

Blood gushed from his hand, and unbearable pain surged, causing Giant Power to clutch his hand and glare toward the direction of the attack, roaring:

”Who dares disrupt our plans!”

A shadow moved swiftly across the ruins of shattered houses, so fast that Giant Power couldn’t clearly see what it was.

In just a few breaths, the shadow appeared before Giant Power, a black form swirled onto its Sword Blade, slashing across Giant Power’s chest, leaving a long, narrow wound.

Blood spurted from the chest, and Giant Power’s face was filled with shock, ”How is this possible? How could I get wounded so easily?”

Barred teeth, red light shone from his eyes, and Giant Power’s once soft and glossy fur instantly bristled like needles of steel.

Giant Power’s subordinates, realizing an enemy had arrived, assumed various stances, ready to intercept the figure with various Skills.

Countless purple thorns suddenly sprouted from the ground, and the purple Lizard people were tightly bound before they could move.

A sudden brightness appeared overhead, and as the Lizard people looked up, Lightning Arrows rained down from the sky.

The purple Lizard people struggled against the thorns, trying to activate prote...

ctor shields to withstand the incoming Lightning Arrows.

However, the defense shields constructed by the purple Lizard people couldn’t withstand the dense Lightning Arrows.

The shields shattered like glass, and the purple Lizard people were electrically stunned. Several of them exhibited electric shocks.

Light footsteps echoed, and as the Lizard people glanced toward the sound, a graceful silhouette emerged from the void.

She placed her hand on the knife handle, unsheathing it at a speed invisible to the naked eye, releasing countless invisible Sharp Sword Qi, instantly severing the limbs of several purple-scaled Lizard people.
