The Unveiling of Secret Queen

”If the Davidson Family can understand and wholeheartedly protect Nathalie with me, that’s great. If not, I’ll just pretend I don’t have any family.”

Kenzie Nabours immediately stopped trying to persuade her.

He understood Marcella Davidson’s character very well. She seemed gentle and fragile, but she was actually very assertive. Once she made up her mind, not even ten oxen could pull her back.

Besides, he couldn’t bear to go against his wife’s wishes.

Kenzie Nabours patted her shoulder: ”Don’t worry, I’m here too. I will also protect Nathalie.”

Marcella turned her head to look at him, her watery eyes slightly flickering, leaning on his shoulder, she whispered: ”Thank you, Kenzie.”

Outside, a black off-road vehicle had been waiting by the roadside for an unknown amount of time.

Amadeus Yancey opened the car window, resting his elbow outside, his eyes constantly watching the other side of the street.

Soon, a cold silhouette came out from inside.

Amadeus Yancey unfastened the seatbelt, casually opened the car door, walked over, and took the things from the girl’s hands, the two books were quite heavy.

While helping Nathalie Quinlan move things, he said in a low voice: ”Why didn’t you tell me it’s so heavy? I could have gone in and helped you carry it.”

”It’s alright, it’s not that heavy.” The books in Nathalie’s arms had been taken by him, making her feel much lighter, so she placed one hand in her pocket, following him from behind.

Amadeus Yancey opened the rear car door, placing her things inside. Then he turned back, reaching out to the girl.

Nathalie raised an eyebrow, understanding almost instantly what he meant, and handed him the single shoulder bag.

Just as expected, Amadeus Yancey put her single shoulder bag inside as well, casually closing the car door. Then he walked around to the front, opened the front passenger car door: ”Get in.”

Nathalie swiftly got into the car.

She closed the car door herself.

Amadeus Yancey walked around to the other side, quickly closed the car door as well, started the car, and asked her: ”Had dinner yet?”

Nathalie made a sound, opened the car window, letting the air from outside in, her elbow rebelliously resting outside, lazily answering: ”Yes, I did.”

Amadeus Yancey had a smile in his eyes and eyebrows, seemingly regretful: ”Is that so. But I haven’t eaten yet, Nathalie.”

Nathalie still had her mind on the matter Marcella had mentioned to her, initially not really paying attention.

Upon hearing this, she paused a little.

She turned back, meeting the man’s deep, collected eyes.

Nathalie’s heartstrings seemed to be gently plucked, quickly she turned her head away: ”*Cough*, what do you want to eat?”

Amadeus Yancey just enjoyed seeing her flustered look, resting his chin on his hand with a smile: ”That depends on what Nathalie the Goddess wants to treat me to.”

Nathalie: ”...”

She quickly realized someone’s intentions, her deep black eyes clear and bright, giving him a deep look, as if there was a dangerous glint in her eyes, her voice was husky and low: ”Are you sure you want to discuss this issue with me?”

Amadeus Yancey hadn’t had a chance to answer her.

Nathalie softly reminded him: ”You’re the one who said to wait a year.”

She meant that matter.

Amadeus Yancey said to wait a year and a half, until her twentieth birthday, it wasn’t that she was unwilling.

Amadeus Yancey didn’t expect Nathalie to be so bold, directly bringing up their previous agreement.

His usually composed, handsome face had a momentary flash of surprise, a mist of heat rising within him. He reached out to turn on the car’s air conditioner, adjusting to cool air.

With the cool air circulating inside the car, the little flame stirring in his heart gradually subsided.

Amadeus Yancey felt a bit helpless yet filled with tenderness, reluctant to scold her, he only internalized the fire he had stirred up himself: ”How about watching a movie tonight?”

”You’re not busy anymore?” Nathalie saw his movement of turning on the air conditioner, pulling the duckbill cap further down, revealing a delicate chin, comfortably settling into the seat: ”Let’s skip it, let’s go eat first.”
