The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 1321: Chapter 1321: The USB Flash Drive Was Stolen

Three hours later, the old man moved his eyes away from the microscope, looking at the pills he had made, his shoulders trembling with excitement.

He quickly found his phone to take a photo, searched through the few contacts in his communications, and sent it to the person marked as Q.

In Beijing, it was still six in the evening, the summer day was just right.

Nathalie Quinlan returned to her apartment, went upstairs to take a shower, and only came out with a towel in her hand, wiping her shiny black hair.

Just as she walked out, she saw her laptop on the table light up.

She walked over, one hand clicked on the laptop keys, while the other hand picked up a bottle of mineral water from the side, unscrewed the cap, and leaned her body against the edge of the desk, tilting her head back, her throat moving up and down, taking a sip of water.

She screwed the cap back on, put the mineral water down, and clicked open the photo sent to her by Demond with expressionless eyes.

The photo showed a series of obscure and incomprehensible numbers.

Nathalie Quinlan read the experimental data in the photo at a glance, her fingers covered the mouse as she calmly processed the photo to ensure no one could steal the data from the network.

After finishing all this, she picked up the towel again, intending to continue drying her hair.

Just then, she received a call from Jackson Wafford.

”Hello.”

As soon as the call connected, Jackson Wafford’s voice was anxiously asking her.

”Nathalie, do you have a backup on your computer of the robot system you worked on this afternoon?”

The robot system she worked on this afternoon?

Nathalie Quinlan squinted her eyes, somewhat surprised, and softly said, ”No.”

She didn’t have the habit of making backups; basically, everything she handled was the only copy, including the much-talked-about virus and iris verification system outside.

When she initially worked on them, there was only one version, she never made backups.

Besides, the robot operating system Jackson Wafford mentioned was just for the competition assignment, she had no reason to specifically make a backup.

But Nathalie prudently sensed the urgency in his tone, her eyes darkened slightly, and she softly asked, ”Mr. Wafford, did something happen?”

”The USB flash drive you handed to Professor Dunn and his group was stolen!”

Jackson Wafford, having witnessed Nathalie’s connections and strength in the Illegal Zone, knew she was far from being just an ordinary student.

He spoke to her without much reservation, directly informing her of the sudden incident at the university: ”We’ve already checked the surveillance in the security office, but we’re not sure if we can find the missing USB flash drive. I thought I’d call you just in case we couldn’t find it, to see if there’s a backup on your computer...”

”If you don’t have a backup on your computer, we’ll have to find your USB flash drive...”

Nathalie raised an eyebrow, her tone quite unexpected: ”My USB flash drive was stolen?”

Who would steal a USB flash drive for no reason?

Moreover, the person managed to enter the office of a Tsinghua University computer teacher to steal something.

Unconsciously, Nathalie’s mind flashed back to the group of students moving teaching materials that she ran into when leaving the office at noon.

Among them, someone stood out starkly in the group of computer students — Velnisa Irvin.

Did she do it?

Nathalie tilted her head slightly, her skin extremely fair, her drooping eyelashes shielding the emotions in her eyes, her neck line perfect and smooth, her freshly washed black hair making the skin of her nape appear even more pearly white.

”I don’t have a backup on my computer.”

”I understand.” On the other end of the phone, Jackson Wafford’s voice sounded immensely frustrated, ”I will first work with the school teachers to check the surveillance and see who stole it, and try to retrieve the USB flash drive. If we really can’t find it... we’ll figure out another way!”
