The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 1314: Chapter 1314: She thought Caryn Zachmann was going to take a big fall

Nadya Tucker didn’t care either. She swirled the red wine glass in her hand, staying by herself without talking much to this bunch of idiots.

She was dragged here by a friend, who said Mateo Gordon was throwing a party at Rivendell and invited everyone to come and have fun.

The second-generation of Beijing are all people from the same circle.

It’s all about having fun.

Nadya didn’t mind playing around with Mateo and the others. After all, she wasn’t much different from Mateo and others before, and they used to hang out frequently.

It’s just that later she got lucky and had a few contacts with Govert Griffin and Sadam Vinson, and now she’s barely breaking into a higher tier of the circle.

After learning about some things she couldn’t reach before, she was no longer interested in hanging out with Mateo and others.

Before Nadya came, she didn’t know that Mateo was hosting a party at Rivendell to celebrate Caryn Zachmann’s success.

She only heard after arriving that today Caryn went to The Ninth Institute to participate in the recruitment assessment. As long as she passes this time, Caryn will smoothly enter The Ninth Institute and become a part of Master Cadmus’s laboratory.

None of them had ever gotten into The Ninth Institute.

Caryn being able to enter The Ninth Institute could be compared to a first-time bride - the first occurrence!

Mateo probably foresaw the benefits after Caryn entered The Ninth Institute, which made him think of throwing a party and getting ahead in pleasing Caryn.

If it were in the past, Nadya figured she would have also tried to get along well with Caryn and made friends with this potential future influential figure in Beijing.

But now, she wasn’t optimistic about Caryn getting into The Ninth Institute.

She felt that Caryn might not achieve her wish today.

Not for anything else, but because The Ninth Institute is Amadeus’s territory!

Given all the trouble Caryn stirred up against Ms. Quinlan before, Nadya didn’t think Caryn could smoothly enter The Ninth Institute.

Don’t tell her something foolish like Caryn having a good relationship with Amadeus and the others... nor about her big brother returning from Maybelissa... Nadya just felt like Caryn would take a huge fall this time.

Nadya’s eyes were slightly cold as she looked at the cheerful atmosphere inside the room, then at Mateo and the others’ eager expressions trying to please Caryn. She used the red wine glass to hide the cold smile at the corner of her mouth, continuing to stay in her corner, silently drinking her own wine.

She had already planned to make a social gesture when Caryn arrived and then leave.

After all, in this circle, one has to mind their stakes, and just like Govert, she had chosen her position, not wanting to play both sides.

In a place like Beijing, everyone is sharp.

What if she didn’t stand firm and fell from the fence?

Nadya suppressed the shrewdness in her eyes, wearing a red dress and stepping on stilettos, her calves stretched straight, her figure graceful as she leaned against the wall, continuing to coldly watch Mateo and the others dig their own graves.

...

Half an hour later, the star of the celebration finally showed up.

Caryn was going to participate in the assessment today, so she was dressed quite formally. A white shirt paired with a black skirt, and the shirt’s fabric was extremely smooth silk, outlining her curves.

Her hair was up, revealing a bright and graceful face.

Caryn looked competent and elegant, very poised.

”Surprise!”

As soon as Caryn walked in, Mateo, along with Little Yellow Hair, set off a firecracker at the door for her, raining down a fluttering confetti that felt like a giant irony.

Caryn’s face instantly darkened, her brows furrowing as she tried hard to control her emotions, but a hint of irritation still leaked into her voice: ”What are you doing?”

Mateo and Little Yellow Hair exchanged glances, confused why the surprise they prepared got such a reaction from her.
