The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 1309: Chapter 1309: In his girlfriend’s heart, he’s not as important as a plate of spicy chicken.

He had a hoarseness in his voice and didn’t rush to leave. With one hand on the steering wheel, he said to the girl waiting by the roadside, ”Let me know when you’re done, I’ll come pick you up later.”

Nathalie Quinlan’s earlobes were still a bit hot, but the heat on her face had subsided. She looked lazy and carefree as she replied, ”We’ll see.”

”I’ll take you for hot pot,” Amadeus Yancey smiled faintly, speaking softly, ”at that place you like.”

Nathalie finally gave him a proper look, her beautiful dark eyes squinted slightly. She lifted her hand, pressed down on the brim of her hat, and finally gave him a nod.

Amadeus Yancey knew that besides the spicy chicken from the Imperial Hotel’s chef, the hot pot restaurant that Govert Griffin had taken them to was the only thing that could sway Nathalie.

He initially wanted to laugh but realized after some thought that in his girlfriend’s eyes, he didn’t even match up to a plate of spicy chicken.

Suddenly, he didn’t feel like laughing anymore. With a gentle tone, Amadeus Yancey looked at the girl by the roadside and said, ”Send me a message when you’re done.”

”Got it.”

Nathalie’s phone rang, and she fished it out of her pocket. A glance told her it was a call from Leonardy Zachmann.

It was likely that he had arrived at the place they had agreed on.

”Leaving now.” She didn’t waste any more words, pocketing her phone with one hand while waving the other towards the black car. She then headed towards the school gate with confident strides.

Ten minutes later, Nathalie arrived at the milk tea shop opposite the school where she and Leonardy had agreed to meet. She spotted the person sitting at the table outside the shop who had already ordered a cup of milk tea and was waiting for her.

Nathalie walked over to that table.

Leonardy Zachmann had been glancing at his wrist occasionally to check the time. When he looked up, he was pleasantly surprised to see someone opposite him, and he called out joyfully, ”Nathalie.”

”Yeah.” Nathalie naturally pulled out a chair and sat down.

Leonardy immediately pushed the milk tea he had ordered in front of her, with a gentle gaze, and said, ”I didn’t know what you like to drink, so I bought you a milk tea. The staff said that students from your school all love this, so try it and see if you like it.”

Nathalie saw the Oreo Milk Tea he pushed towards her but didn’t take it. She rested her hand on the table, sitting rather casually, and spoke in a low voice, ”Uncle, did you need something from me?”

Leonardy Zachmann had always treated her well.

At least, he wasn’t bad.

Being Audrick Zachmann’s father, Nathalie didn’t have a deep emotional connection with him, but she felt the need to show basic respect.

Upon seeing her not drink the milk tea he bought, Leonardy’s smile turned a bit bitter. He sighed without blaming her and took a key out of his briefcase, pushing it before Nathalie, saying, ”This is the five million I previously gave you. Since you returned it to me, I bought a small apartment near Tsinghua for you, a one-bedroom with a living room, under your name, though it’s not furnished yet.”

”Here’s the house key, take it. You can live in it or rent it out as you see fit.”

Nathalie glanced at the house key placed next to the milk tea, lightly furrowed her brows, picked up the key in front of Leonardy Zachmann, and returned it to him, saying succinctly, ”I’ll pass on the house. If you need something, just tell me directly.”

”I didn’t mean anything else, uncle just...” Leonardy looked at her calm face, felt somewhat embarrassed for some reason, and even lowered his head a bit.

He felt a blockage in his heart, pressed his temples, and silently put the key away, ”If you don’t take it, fine. I’ll leave the key with your grandfather. You can get it from him anytime you need. Anyway, the house is under your name, and whether you live in it or leave it empty, it’s your decision.”
