The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 140: Chapter 140: Nathalie Quinlan Unworthy? _1

Adelia Tucker, wearing a Tang costume with glossy agate beads circling her neck, exuded an intimidating nobility, ”I’ve been friends with your Grandma Lawrence for decades, and even if she has her little schemes, I am well aware of them. It’s just a meal for now, we can talk about the future later.”

Enrico Tucker didn’t dare to question her actions and hummed in agreement, his attention drifting off as he looked ahead listlessly.

Suddenly, a slim figure caught his eye.

He thought he had seen wrong.

As it approached,

the girl’s exquisite and outstanding profile became clear, and his heartbeat abruptly quickened, unable to shift his gaze, ”Grandma, it’s that girl from the other day.”

He remembered her name was Nathalie Quinlan?

He had seen her, and so had Adelia Tucker, of course.

The kind look on her face instantly turned stern, her eyes sharpened!

Nathalie Quinlan!

She had thought that upon meeting, Nathalie would greet her.

Who would have expected, the girl with a bandit’s air seemed not to recognize them and brushed past them casually.

Adelia Tucker’s face color suddenly chilled, nearly vexed to illness.

What did she mean, deliberately showing that face to her?

Could a Miss treat an elder with such disdain?

Enrico Tucker only caught a whiff of delicate fragrance as the figure quickly passed by them, and he couldn’t help but call out, ”Ms. Quinlan.”

Upon hearing her name called, Nathalie paused in her steps and turned around.

Her dark eyes met with Adelia Tucker and Enrico Tucker, at which point she realized that the two persons she had just passed were acquaintances.

Adelia Tucker wore an unhappy expression, not even looking at her as if she didn’t want to greet her.

The young man by her side, however, looked earnest and friendly in his disposition.

Nathalie had no habit of offering warmth to someone’s cold shoulder and was considering whether to initiate the greeting when a voice sounded from behind the two.

”Nathalie.”

The man’s voice was languid and deep,

like the caress of a well-played cello string.

The Towners turned and saw a tall man walking past them, seeming quite familiar with Nathalie, his hand resting on her shoulder, his mellow voice asking, ”Weren’t you going to wash your hands? Why are you standing here?”

”I was just about to go.”

Enrico Tucker subconsciously felt the atmosphere between them was off and instinctively asked, ”Ms. Quinlan, who is this?”

He really shouldn’t have asked that question.

It was even quite abrupt.

Before Adelia Tucker could react, he had already asked.

Nathalie lifted her eyelids, surprised at his query, her hand casually inserted in her pocket as she replied indifferently, ”A friend.”

A friend?

A boyfriend is also a kind of friend.

Enrico Tucker’s heart sank.

His gaze couldn’t help but shoot toward the man.

Suddenly, he had a direct confrontation with those eyes.

How could one describe them?

Predatory coldness.

With an undertone of warning.

They were nothing like the charming harmlessness of his voice.

Enrico’s heart jolted.

Before he could figure out who the man was,

Adelia Tucker had already reacted, realizing that her grandson seemed to have a different attitude towards Nathalie. Her expression turned slightly grave as she pulled him along, ”Enrico, let’s go back!”

The Zachmann Family had reclaimed a granddaughter who was too wild.

She disapproved, and would absolutely not allow such a person to marry into their family.

Caryn Zachmann would have been more acceptable.

As for Nathalie Quinlan matching with Enrico, she would never agree.

”Grandma,” Enrico was reluctant to leave.

Adelia Tucker was adamant, ”Let’s go!”

Unable to resist, he could only leave with a face full of regret, looking back three times with every step.

Nathalie hadn’t noticed the intricacies of their interaction. Seeing them go, the tension between her eyebrows eased, and it saved her the trouble of greeting them.

She was ready to leave.

But, unexpectedly, the path ahead was blocked by an arm.
