Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

”I don’t like violence, in general, Young Master Mu said himself to be quite reasonable.” Han Yan saw what Huayue and the others were thinking and said with a serious face. As he spoke, Han Yan winked playfully at Ye Lanfeng, who returned a smile, thoroughly agreeing.

...Well, Huayue and the others nodded in unison, defeated by Big Playboy Mu. The Young Master was indeed a reasonable person, but they reckoned the other party might not be too keen on him being reasonable; perhaps a bit of violence would be more easily accepted. Seeing Ye Lanfeng’s expression that everything Han Yan did was right, the group felt a sourness in their teeth.

”Young Master Mo, you saw with your own eyes that I won these elixirs, medicinal herbs, and cultivation techniques in the auction, so there’s no need for any further talk, just compensate me,” Han Yan said directly, not bothering to waste words with Mo Yanhong.

”You... you...” Mo Yanhong pointed at Han Yan, so angry he couldn’t even speak.

Didn’t he know Han Yan’s strength? That palm strike from before, he could have dodged it even with his eyes closed, yet he chose not to dodge. It was clear he was being tricked.

”What ’you’ ’you’ ’you’? You slapped me without distinguishing right from wrong, and I didn’t even hold it against you. You destroyed my expensive acquisition of miracle medicine, strange flowers, and herbs. Oh, and that Supreme Technique. Don’t you want to compensate me?” Han Yan raised an eyebrow menacingly at Mo Yanhong.

”Yeah, Young Master Mo, as descendants of the Eight Great Families, Young Master Mu didn’t hold it against you for the slap. All he’s asking is for some compensation in elixirs and plants, what else do you want?”

”We might fear you, but Lord Mu doesn’t. If you truly anger him, it won’t just be about compensating with some elixirs and plants.”

”Young Master Mu, as it happens, I know a bit of medicine; how about I check if you’ve been injured?” It seemed like Mo Yanhong wasn’t very popular, as others joined in the teasing.

”Oh, now that you mention it, my head’s spinning, so dizzy,” Han Yan said, covering his forehead, pretending to stagger.

Huayue and the others turned their heads away, all with faces of shame. Please, my Young Master, if you’re going to act, at least make it believable. You were at least vomiting some blood this morning, and now you’re just swaying about like nothing happened.

Mo Yanhong glared furiously at Han Yan, nearly grinding his teeth to dust.

That palm strike from earlier, everyone saw it clearly. Even if he knew he was being conned by Han Yan, he couldn’t argue back. The only thing he couldn’t understand was why on earth did he let his temper flare up and strike out?

Han Yan’s strength wasn’t unknown to him. As long as his mind was even a little clear, he would never have struck, especially not in front of everyone in the hall. Yet, he did, unable to restrain the hot blood rushing to his head.

What in the world was going on today, could it be that his brain had truly flooded? Recalling how he had lost his mind earlier and impulsively bid forty million for that fake sword, even Mo Yanhong started to doubt himself.

No, it must have been Mu Hanyan’s doing. Although Mo Yanhong couldn’t figure out exactly what was going on, he was certain that all of this was related to Mu Hanyan.

Mo Yanhong stared hard at Mu Hanyan. If looks could kill, Lady Mu would have been slain a thousand times, or even ten thousand times. Unfortunately, looks cannot kill, so all he could do was to stare helplessly.

Mu Hanyan stared unapologetically back at him. What, think your eyes are bigger? My eyes are much bigger than yours, Miss Mu thought. Swindle you? Yes, you got that right, I did swindle you, and you had it coming for seeking out trouble with the Nanyan Chamber of Commerce. I wouldn’t have bothered otherwise.

”I’ll compensate,” Mo Yanhong finally said through gritted teeth after a long staring contest.

”That’s more like it. I’m the most reasonable of all,” Mu Hanyan replied condescendingly, seeing him give in. She didn’t feel like engaging in a staring contest anymore; her eyes were starting to hurt.

Upon hearing Mu Hanyan’s words, Mo Yanhong felt a slight relief. However, he soon heard her continue, ”For this Taiyi Sword Origin Pill, let’s say one million two hundred thousand for you. This True Essence Meridian Transformation Pill, two million. And this Senluo Life Returning Pill, also two million. Oh, right, and this Cultivation Technique. It’s a Supreme Technique that appears once in millennia. What was it called again?”

Mu Hanyan fumbled with the bundle of paper scraps—no, not paper scraps, but a supreme Cultivation Technique—and couldn’t remember its name for a moment.

”Water Moon Skills,” Zirong said, barely holding back his urge to burst into laughter. He had known all along that the scoundrel of a Young Master wouldn’t let Mo Yanhong off easily.

”Right, Water Moon Skills. Wonderful, wonderful indeed. They’re truly great. Let’s call it three million for that,” Mu Hanyan intended to recite a few mnemonics to show how great this Supreme Technique was but, sifting through the pile of scraps, she couldn’t find a single complete mnemonic, so she dropped the idea.

”Mu Hanyan, are you deliberately trying to fleece me? That Taiyi Sword Origin Pill was clearly auctioned off to you for six hundred thousand; how did it become one million two hundred thousand? And all those other Elixirs and Skills you got for one million—are you treating me like I’m deaf?” Mo Yanhong was ready to swallow his pride, but upon hearing Mu Hanyan’s words, he exploded in anger again.

”Young Master, don’t get angry; stay calm, calm,” Tributor Qiu hastily intervened, fearing that Mo Yanhong would lose his temper and confront Mu Hanyan physically.

”I got them cheap because I have a good eye. While you all were oblivious, I could see clearly that each and every one of these strange flowers and herbs, and Miracle Medicines, is a peerless treasure. And that whatever Water Moon Skills are the culmination of countless predecessors’ painstaking efforts. If I weren’t being reasonable and didn’t want to swindle you, each item, if auctioned, could fetch millions, or even tens of millions of silver taels,” blurted Mu Hanyan, bluffing. ”You should be thanking me.”

I thank your grandpa! Mo Yanhong raged inwardly.

”Right, that True Essence Meridian Transformation Pill, I could see at a glance that it was extraordinary. If Young Master Mu hadn’t acted first, I wouldn’t have missed out even for three million taels,” someone in the crowd chimed in immediately, adding fuel to the fire.

Relying on the support of his father, the Mo Family Patriarch, Mo Yanhong had never taken the sons of ordinary noble families seriously and had offended quite a few. Now that people saw his misfortune, they were keen to join in the mockery. If not now, then when?

Mo Yanhong was so angry he could spit blood—nonsense about being extraordinary. That so-called True Profound Meridian Transformation Pill was clearly the Waste Pills deliberately refined under his orders by the alchemists of Mo’s Pill Workshop. Extraordinary? Three million? He had the cheek to say that. Right, they even got the name wrong—it was called True Profound Meridian Transformation Pill, not True Essence Meridian Transformation Pill. If you’re going to kick a man when he’s down, at least be professional about it, please.
