Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 756: 756 Guardian of the Gods

”Divine Martial descends, traversing the heavens and earth.” The sound of my grandfather’s words thundered in my ears.

”Grandfather, have you also heard this phrase?” After a while, Mu Hanyan asked Mu Beichen.

”I have not had such an opportunity,” Mu Beichen shook his head and said. ”This phrase is a secret passed down since ancient times within our Mu Family, handed down over nearly a million years.”

”Nearly a million years!” Mu Hanyan looked at her grandfather in shock.

She had always thought that the history of the Mu Family lasted, at most, a few tens of thousands of years or perhaps a couple of hundred thousand years, but she had never imagined that the Mu Family had a history nearing a million years.

However, Mu Hanyan knew that everything her grandfather was about to say would resolve all the doubts in her heart, so she didn’t rush to dig deeper but instead waited for her grandfather to continue slowly.

”People only know that our Mu Family has a long history and profound heritage, but they do not know how long exactly; perhaps tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of years, but they would never think that our ancestors in the Mu Family, almost a million years ago, were already renowned across the Continent.”

”I heard from the secret message your father sent, and I know about your situation,” Mu Beichen continued with a solemn expression. ”The grudges between the Holy Court Continent and the Demon Continent, also known as the Divine Continent as claimed by the people in the temple, are no secret. What I’m about to tell you now is your true lineage and bloodline.” Mu Hanyan nodded, suppressing the excitement in her heart and listened quietly.

”Nearly a million years ago, before the Holy Court Continent and the Demon Continent had separated, it was known as the Holy Continent. Various tribes fought endlessly to seize the limited cultivation resources, forming two grand alliances eventually: one was the Holy Court, the other was the temple.

The powerful of those times were much stronger than today, and the top warriors of the Holy Court and the temple were far stronger than ordinary fighters, possessing earth-shaking might with simple gestures. After many battles, both alliances suffered countless casualties, and billions of people were displaced.”

”The final battle was calamitous. The earth fractured, volcanoes erupted, boundless floods swept across the lands, and countless creatures perished. Both alliances and numerous tribes suffered grave consequences, nearly facing extinction under that terrifying heavenly might.”

”Just then, a group of unparalleled warriors emerged from nowhere. No one knew where they came from, and no one knew the extent of their cultivation, but as soon as they appeared, the Sky-breaking Sword cleaved through the void, intimidated the earth, and all beings submitted to them.”

”They possessed Divine Power, majestic, holy, inviolable.”

”The Continent regained its peace, the erupting volcanoes were permanently suppressed, the Heavenly Abyss became plain ground again, and the boundless floods returned to the sea.”

”Even the entire Continent was divided, turning the Sealing Forbidden Land into an insurmountable natural barrier between the Continent’s fragments, thus separating the two alliances who from then on lived in peace, each flourishing in their respective territories.” Although Mu Beichen spoke of legends from nearly a million years ago, his voice still trembled with excitement, his face filled with longing.

”What I just witnessed were those unparalleled warriors!” Influenced by her grandfather, Mu Hanyan couldn’t help but feel her blood boil.

If someone else had been in her shoes, they might not have believed Mu Beichen’s words, dismissing them as mere myth and legend. But Han Yan had seen that stone tablet, her mind melding into it, as if experiencing first-hand the terrifying majesty of the Earth cracking and volcanoes erupting, feeling the despair and helplessness in those cries and howls, and even the solemn sacredness when those peerless powerhouses appeared, before whom all things trembled.

She knew that everything her grandfather said was true.

”That’s right, what you just witnessed were those peerless powerhouses—Divine Martial Guardians, possessing Divine Power granted by the gods. When Divine Martial descends, they span heaven and earth,” Mu Beichen said proudly, lifting his head.

”Our Mu Family ancestor was one of the Divine Martial Guardians!” Although she had already guessed some of it, hearing Mu Beichen say it still left Han Yan profoundly shocked.

So, the Mu Family had such a background, and her ancestors were so powerful!

Why did she hear that mysterious voice in her mind after obtaining the Heavenly Destiny Star Plate, and why did she suddenly comprehend the Divine Language? Now, everything had an answer.

Amid her excitement, Han Yan suddenly thought of a question. Since she was a descendant of the Divine Martial Guardians, why would the temple send assassins, why would her grandfather have them flee to Heishi City, disguising themselves and hiding their true identities? Furthermore, was her untimely death in her previous life also related to this?

”I know what you’re wondering about. The Divine Bloodline, for you, is not a blessing but a great crisis,” Mu Beichen continued, noticing Han Yan’s confusion. ”Don’t you find it strange? Our Mu ancestors and the other Guardians of the Gods possessed such immense power, so why did they choose to divide the Continent, allowing the Holy Court and the temple to recuperate separately, instead of making them reconcile and live in peace?”

”Why?” Han Yan immediately asked.

”Because even among the Guardians of the Gods, there were disagreements—some supported the Holy Court, others the temple. The fragmentation of the Continent can be seen as a result of their compromises, and also as the dire consequence of their battle against each other.

Originally, they only established a Seal to temporarily separate the Holy Court from the temple, ending the intertribal war that had lasted for ten thousand years and brought untold suffering. However, the real reason behind the fragmentation of the Continent was the battle among the Guardians of the Gods themselves.

Our Mu ancestor and the other Guardians of the Gods all died in that unknown battle, destroyed together, and the Holy Continent shattered into countless pieces. Perhaps it was also their fate; their power was too overwhelming to be sustained by the Holy Continent,” Mu Beichen said slowly.

”Our Mu ancestor was a Guardian of the Gods on the side of the Holy Court. The Divine Bloodline has been passed down from generation to generation, growing ever weaker, but once the Bloodline is awakened, they would inherit the Divine Seal embedded deep within their bloodlines and possess the power of Gods.

How could the temple possibly tolerate the reappearance of a Holy Court’s Descendant of God in this world?

Over these hundreds of thousands of years, countless descendants of the Mu Family have died unnatural deaths. Outsiders and even ordinary Mu Family’s Disciples think they died in accidents, but the Family Head and elders know full well—they all died at the hands of the temple,” Mu Beichen said next, clenching his fist and gritting his teeth.

”Does the temple really have such great power in the Holy Court Continent?” Han Yan asked in surprise.

”Not as big as you might think. Even with the Holy Object of the temple to aid them, it’s not easy to cross the Sealing Forbidden Land. Anyone the temple entrusts with such a critical mission to infiltrate the Holy Court Continent is a Holy-grade expert or above. If they’re willing to risk it all, use a Forbidden Technique to tear the Seal, and leverage the Heaven and Earth Power of the Divine Continent to exert their true strength, coupled with a surprise attack, it naturally catches people off guard,” Mu Beichen sighed.
