Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 754: 754 rest assured, I’m not a blabbermouth

Mu Yunshui was extremely worried that Mu Hanyan, the person involved, might impulsively speak out and ruin his reputation, so he tried his best to ingratiate himself with Mu Hanyan.

”Don’t worry, Ninth Tributor, I’m not a blabbermouth. I won’t tell anyone about how you were defeated with a single slap and begged Zhao Yuanji for mercy, humiliating yourself,” Mu Hanyan said earnestly.

She wasn’t the kind to carelessly spread rumors. Why stir up trouble for no reason, especially since as a newcomer, having the Ninth Tributor fawning over her wasn’t a bad thing.

”Uh...” Mu Yunshui stared at Mu Hanyan with his mouth agape. You say you’re not a blabbermouth, yet you spilled the beans just like that?

Mu Yunshui suddenly felt a strong sense of unease.

”Ninth Tributor, you see, I’m new here, I don’t understand anything, I’m clueless about everything, I might need to trouble you a lot in the coming days. But if you’re too busy, then never mind. Mu Zexian and others seem quite approachable, I could ask them for help. However, out of curiosity, I’m afraid I might inadvertently blurt out something I shouldn’t. But with someone looking after me, surely I won’t go saying things recklessly,” Mu Hanyan continued.

”Not busy, not busy at all. You’ve just arrived in the Capital, and as an elder, it’s my duty to take care of you. Feel free to come to me for anything. Those young ones know nothing beyond their pleasures,” Mu Yunshui quickly grasped what Mu Hanyan meant and forced a warm smile.

Having just returned to the Zong Family, Mu Hanyan was unfamiliar with the Capital and was metaphorically in the dark, naturally needing a handy servant.

As a Ninth Tributor of the Mu Family, he was of course unwilling to be ordered around, but what choice did he have when someone held his weaknesses in their hands?

How threatening this person is, even to an elder! Mu Yunshui clenched his teeth in frustration, though a spring-like smile remained on his face.

During their conversation, the group had arrived at the inner courtyard.

”Young Master is here. Family Head is waiting for you in the study,” an old man clad in simple hemp greeted warmly with a benevolent smile.

”Does Grandfather know I’m here?” Mu Hanyan asked excitedly. Although the old man stooped and dressed very simply, Mu Hanyan didn’t dare show any disrespect, asking the question while bowing.

Having seen the formidable steward beside Zhao Yuanji, Mu Hanyan knew that these old guardians beside each Family Head, despite looking frail as if a breeze could knock them down, were all experts with a high status within their families.

”Follow me, Family Head has been waiting for you for a long time,” the old man said with a peaceful smile.

”Thank you, sir. May I know how to address you?” Mu Hanyan followed behind the elderly man, heading towards the study.

”The Young Master is too polite. Just call me Uncle Yun,” the old man courteously responded.

Ye Lanfeng and the others were left in the small hall outside the study, where the elderly man pushed open the door to the study and then quietly retreated.

The room was filled with a faint scent of ink, and an imposing old man stood behind the desk. His appearance somewhat resembled Mu Rui’an but appeared even more dignified.

However, at that moment, the face of the dignified old man showed a gentle smile, his eyes brimming with care.

”Grandfather, I am here,” Han Yan said softly, her eyes moist.

In her previous life, Mu Beichen was the person Han Yan hated the most. Since her childhood, she was sent to Heishi City, subjected to ridicule and neglect. In her eyes, it was all because of her grandfather’s cold indifference. But after being reborn, she realized that everything her grandfather did was for her. In fact, like all grandfathers in the world, he loved his kin, even exceeding them in some respects.

”It’s good that you’re here. You’ve been wronged over the years,” Mu Beichen said lovingly as he looked at Han Yan, his voice somewhat choked.

”It’s not a hardship; I know everything Grandfather did was for my best.” Seeing Mu Beichen’s genuine emotions, Han Yan’s heart also felt an ache, and tears welled up even more.

She could see that her grandfather’s affection had been suppressed in his heart for many years. Despite being a man who had braved the storms of life and seen through worldly affairs, he was somewhat unable to control his emotions at that moment. Fortunately, she had met his expectations and advanced to the Sword Master Realm before the age of sixteen, then came to the Capital. Otherwise, he would have continued to suppress his feelings. Just like in her previous life, she would never have known about her grandfather’s care even until the moment of his death.

For her, this was undoubtedly one of the great regrets in life and undoubtedly so for her grandfather too.

”Silly child, do I, as an old man, really make you dislike me that much? Why do you start shedding tears upon seeing me?” Just when Han Yan’s tears were about to fall, Mu Beichen let out a hearty laugh.

”No, not at all, I just got some sand in my eye,” said Han Yan, embarrassed by Mu Beichen’s words, quickly rubbing her eyes. She thought to herself: If you weren’t so heartfelt upon seeing me, how could I have reacted this way? And yet you’re making fun of me now.

If the grandfather and granddaughter had felt somewhat distant before, because of Mu Beichen’s joke, the slight barrier that existed between them vanished entirely, feeling as though they had been together for many years.

”You came into the Capital this morning, right? How do you feel, are you getting used to it?” Mu Beichen asked.

”It’s okay, it’s just bigger and more bustling than Heishi City, not much difference otherwise,” Han Yan earnestly replied. In her previous life, although she had never come to the Capital due to her grandfather’s prohibitions, she had visited many other places, so she didn’t feel any discomfort.

”That’s true. Your adaptability is indeed good. You just arrived in the Capital and already smashed Ji Gaoxian’s signboard, making a name for the Divine Fortune Tellers, and then you beat up your own brother, earning the name of a playboy as well. I guess it won’t be long before ’Heishi City’s Number One Playboy’ becomes ’Capital’s Number One Playboy,’” Mu Beichen laughed heartily.

”It wasn’t on purpose, really. The thing with Master Ji was completely coincidental. Zexian attacked as soon as he approached, and I didn’t even know who he was. His moves were too vicious, and I had no choice but to fight back,” Han Yan replied with a wry smile.

She really hadn’t expected the news to reach her grandfather so quickly. It seemed she couldn’t avoid becoming famous if she tried. And truly, it wasn’t intentional. Both incidents, one coincidental and the other out of necessity, were indeed unjust. Furthermore, from ’Heishi City’s Number One Playboy’ to ’Capital’s Number One Playboy,’ it sounded like an upgrade to something even ”more impressive,” but Han Yan really didn’t want that kind of reputation at all.

”No matter, no matter, these Star Divination Masters, thinking they know everything but actually being deluded, deserve a lesson. As for Mu Zexian and these younger family members, they’ve long deserved some hardships. This time meeting you, it serves him right,” Mu Beichen indifferently commented.

”Family Head, won’t it cause you any trouble that I started fighting with our own family as soon as I arrived in the Capital?” Han Yan asked worriedly.
