Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 797: 797 missing out on bargains is a fool

”Ha ha ha ha, Han Yan, you’re just like this after all, to dare to say that this young master has no money, to actually dare to say this young master has no money, watch me crush you with my money!” Mo Yanhong laughed aloud.

Everyone below the stage was stunned. This big playboy from the Mo Family, had his brain gotten waterlogged? He still hadn’t realized that he had been tricked.

”Young Master!” Tributor Qiu shouted loudly.

Mo Yanhong felt as though thunder had struck his ears, and he suddenly came to his senses.

”What just happened?” Mo Yanhong’s eyes returned to clarity, and only then did he notice that everyone was looking at him with strange eyes and asked, puzzled.

”Young Master, you forgot, you just bid forty million for the Chengjun Sword and bullied Han Yan so much that he lost all his temper,” said a sycophant at his side with a face full of fawning smiles.

”What... what?” Mo Yanhong, even though he had been carried away by his emotions and had his blood rush to his head, had not lost his mind. He still remembered what had happened, though it all felt foggy like a dream. After hearing his words, he realized it wasn’t a dream and his face suddenly turned pale.

”Young Master, your grandeur is unmatched. With each bid, you threw in ten million, crushing that Han Yan until he couldn’t even lift his head, ha ha ha ha,” the sycophant, not noticing the suddenly darkened expression on Mo Yanhong’s face, pointed and gestured wildly while flatteringly slapping Mo Yanhong’s metaphorical horse.

”Fuck your mother,” Mo Yanhong kicked him flat to the ground.

Forty million — he had actually, in a fit of passion, thrown out forty million! Mo Yanhong grabbed his hair, his head spinning.

Even though Xuanyuan Fengchen was renowned, his fame was confined within Anyun Country. This Chengjun Sword from sixty years ago by him couldn’t possibly be worth forty million, right?

What exactly happened, to make him act so impulsively?

Sadly, before he could figure it out, a guard arrived with the Chengjun Sword right in front of him, adding that the wooden box had been taken back by Xuanyuan Fengchen, the old swindler planning to continue his deceit.

”Eldest Young Master Mo, this is the Chengjun treasure sword that you won.” It was the same guard as before, and his look was still the same eager one.

The crowd below the stage looked eagerly at Mo Yanhong, waiting for him to break into curses and throw the silver notes in the guard’s face as he had done earlier.

But this time, they were disappointed; Eldest Young Master Mo didn’t burst out cursing.

”Uh, Chairman Che, I got a bit carried away just now, maybe we can make some concessions and re-auction it?” Mo Yanhong said with an ingratiating smile.

The crowd below the stage fell down in shock, as if he thought the auction was child’s play, to say just redo it.

”Eldest Young Master Mo, I know you’re one of the son of the Eight Great Families from the Capital, but there are rules in the Chamber of Commerce. Isn’t it a bit too much to say such things?” Che Xiang said coldly.

Everyone present knew about the plots and schemes Mo Yanhong had played today. Che Xiang had long been grinding his teeth in hatred, and having finally seen Eldest Young Master Mu deeply trick Mo Yanhong, how could he possibly let him off easily?

Besides, even if it had nothing to do with Han Yan, he wouldn’t dare disrupt the rules; otherwise, anyone could make a mess in the Nanyan Chamber of Commerce, and they wouldn’t be able to do business in the future.

Mo Yanhong’s cold sweat broke out instantly, and he and his family-owned Jinghai Chamber of Commerce well knew what could be negotiated and what couldn’t be. If this matter blew up, not only would the Mo Family face resistance from all the chambers of commerce on the Holy Court Continent, but the Jinghai Chamber of Commerce would certainly be suppressed by other chambers and inevitably be driven to closure.

”Tributor Qiu, how much Silver Tael do you have on you?” Mo Yanhong asked.

”Probably, probably several million taels,” Tributor Qiu, though reluctantly, knew that today’s issue couldn’t be resolved amicably and resignedly pulled out a stack of silver notes.

Mo Yanhong also took out a stack of silver notes, which together amounted to about ten million, but it was still far from enough.

”Chairman Che, how about I owe it first and pay the rest in a few days?” Mo Yanhong said with a forced laugh to Che Xiang.

Che Xiang just sneered and didn’t even give him an acknowledgment.

”Eldest Young Master Mo, short on funds, are you? Need my help?” Mu Zexian finally found his opportunity and said to Mo Yanhong with a smirk.

”I would appreciate your help, Brother Zexian,” Mo Yanhong, despite loathing Mu Hanyan to death, dryly smiled upon hearing someone was willing to help.

”It’s all among the sons of noble families, we constantly meet; no need for formalities. I will notify my family to come and pay the money and take him,” Mu Zexian stood up and said.

”I’m also going.”

”I’m going as well,” Mu Zeran and others quickly stood up.

The most embarrassing thing this group of playboys had ever done was to shout bids recklessly at an auction and then be unable to pay, requiring their elders to come and collect them, which made them the butt of jokes for years; they could not wait to find someone else to blame.

”Wait,” Mo Yanhong quickly stopped them. The incident with Mu Zexian and the others had happened several years ago, and at the time, being clueless kids, everyone in the Capital took it as a joke and never took it seriously.

But it was different for him; he was already seventeen years old. If he needed his family to come and collect him, he would probably be the joke of the town.

”I have some property deeds here, would Chairman Che be interested?” Mo Yanhong gritted his teeth and took out a stack of property deeds.

Che Xiang instinctively looked towards Mu Hanyan, who nodded her head. The bustling Capital was incomparable to the county or to remote towns like Heishi City, truly a place where every inch of land was worth its weight in gold. In normal times, even with money, one might not be able to buy such property, and such a bargain delivered to one’s doorstep was an opportunity not to be missed, as Lady Mu adhered to the principle: ”Only a fool would refuse a bargain!”

Quickly, Che Xiang took Mo Yanhong’s property deeds and, together with Manager Zhou and a few other stewards hired locally from the Capital, discussed briefly and picked one of them, saying, ”This alchemy workshop at the south end of the workshop area seems appealing, discounted at thirty million, how does that sound, Young Master Mo?”

”Fine,” Mo Yanhong bit his teeth. Although the alchemy workshop at the south end of the market area wasn’t large, given its location in the bustling market area of the expensive Capital, it surely was worth more than thirty million. However, as Che Xiang said that was the only one he found appealing, what other choice did he have? He certainly couldn’t let the Mo Family come to collect him.

At this point, he had no choice but to swallow the loss, even if it meant biting off his own teeth.

”Master Xuan Yuan, here are the silver notes,” Che Xiang, of course, wouldn’t give the property deeds to Xuanyuan Fengchen, and instead pulled out several dozen silver notes to hand to him.

Forty million was no small sum, even after deducting the commission, more than thirty million remained. The Nanyan Commerce couldn’t produce such a large sum in silver notes and had to make do with smaller amounts.

Without even a glance, Xuanyuan Fengchen just pocketed the notes.

”Master Xuan Yuan, don’t you want to count them?” Che Xiang kindly reminded.
