Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

It’s no wonder he has been able to contend with Grandfather for so many years, and still hasn’t given up on the position of Family Head, this Third Elder has extraordinary abilities and schemes.

”Everyone leave,” said the Third Elder, waving his hand dismissively at the crowd.

The crowd, as if pardoned, hastily retreated.

”Grandfather,” Mu Chengxuan struggled to stand, paying his respects to the Third Elder.

”You are injured; no need for formalities,” the Third Elder approached and pointed a few times in the air above him, dissipating the stagnant energy in his body. His expression was indifferent, but Han Yan could still detect the anger hidden in his eyes.

”You are Ye Lanfeng?” The Third Elder turned his head and asked Ye Lanfeng.

”Indeed,” Ye Lanfeng replied, his demeanor still composed despite facing the powerful Third Elder of the Mu Family who could challenge the Family Head.

”So, is that sword really the ’Broken Sword’?” the Third Elder asked again.

”Didn’t your grandson already tell you? It is indeed the ’Broken Sword,’” Ye Lanfeng said with a faint smile. His smile was light, and his tone even lighter, but the irony in his casual manner did not escape anyone present. Zirong and others exchanged glances, wondering if they should feel honored that such a dignified figure would stoop to such petty sarcasm over their young master – did that mean their young master held some significance in the eyes of such a lofty individual? Ah, perhaps it’s best not to think about it. After all, they’re both men!

”Alright, I understand,” the Third Elder’s face remained unchanged, but a hint of forbearance and anger flashed in his eyes. He nodded and then assisted Mu Chengxuan as they walked toward the exterior.

”Third Elder,” Zhuang Chengjun also stood up, looking pitifully at the Third Elder.

”Although you are a guest, such egregious behavior cannot be tolerated by the Mu Family,” the Third Elder stopped, his face devoid of emotion.

Zhuang Chengjun’s face paled, and before he could grasp the underlying meaning of the Third Elder’s words, he saw the Third Elder’s palm strike towards him.

”Crack.” Everyone heard the sound of breaking bones, Zhuang Chengjun’s body twisted, falling to the ground with a heart-wrenching scream, as his right leg was twisted in an unnatural angle, evidently having been broken by the Third Elder’s palm.

”Shut up, do you not find it disgraceful enough?” the Third Elder rebuked coldly. ”Reflect upon your actions in confinement when you return. If you dare seek revenge, do not blame me for showing no face to the Zhuang Family.”

Zhuang Chengjun, trembling with fear and pain penetrating his bones, dared not make another sound. Covering his mouth, he dragged his broken leg and desperately crawled out of the courtyard.

Witnessing this scene, Mu Beichen frowned slightly but remained silent.

Han Yan also felt a chill, realizing that today’s events had ultimately originated with Zhuang Chengjun’s misconduct, and he was the one at fault. If the Third Elder had reprimanded him and directed him to apologize, it would have indicated a possibility of reconciliation.

If Mu Beichen had offered a few courteous words to smooth things over, today’s incident might well have been concluded.

However, preferring to break Zhuang Chengjun’s leg as an answer to Mu Beichen and refusing to apologize, while totally ignoring Mu Chengxuan’s situation, clearly demonstrated his stance—unyielding.

This internal struggle for power within the Mu Family was clearly much more severe than any faced by the Mu branch in Heishi City.

”I do hope he comes for revenge,” Han Yan suddenly spoke up with a smile at this moment, her voice not loud. But everybody present was a cultivator with extraordinary hearing, so naturally, they all heard what Han Yan had said.

The Third Elder, who had been supporting Mu Chengxuan and walking forward, stopped in his tracks upon hearing this. He slowly turned his head to look at Han Yan, his expression unchanged, but the depth in his eyes could not be concealed.

When Han Yan met the Third Elder’s gaze, she flashed a broad smile. ”Third Elder, don’t you think I’m right? Big brother Chengxuan also said that we must uphold the Mu Family’s honor. He said that these people are nothing more than the Mu Family’s dogs, but then, you should look at the owner when you beat a dog, shouldn’t you? Zhuang Chengjun completely disregarded big brother Chengxuan. Killing him would be letting him off too lightly,” Han Yan’s smile brightened even as she saw the Third Elder’s eyes grow darker, ”I’m really a good baby, aren’t I?” Throwing Chengxuan’s words back at them absolutely disgusted them, and that made Han Yan delighted.

Zirong and the others twitched at the corners of their mouths, barely able to watch.

Mu Beichen stroked the beard on his chin, shocked. Han Yan’s ability to turn black into white with no shame, and be vile even in victory, was so much like her father—that inheritance was just too good!

”Oh, my, Han Yan, that’s enough,” Mu Beichen scolded Han Yan, but even a fool could hear how fake his chastisement was.

”Not bad; you should just break four legs,” Ye Lanfeng spoke up in deep agreement. What a joke! Break five legs? Why should Han Yan do such a thing? Wouldn’t that be taking advantage of her? The task of breaking the fifth leg should be left to him.

The Third Elder gave Mu Beichen a deep look, then glanced at Ye Lanfeng, and ultimately, without saying a word, turned and left.

Han Yan narrowed her eyes slightly; the Third Elder was indeed deeply calculating.

”It’s all right; everything is settled. I’m going to go back first. You rest for a while, and come join me for dinner later,” Mu Beichen said to Han Yan, after watching the Third Elder and his group leave.

”Understood, grandfather, go slowly,” Han Yan said, bowing.

Aunt Xiu, her daughter, and a few others from Huayue also bowed, sending the elder off.

”Sigh, just returned on the first day and I’ve already smashed Ji Shen Gun’s signboard and injured the precious grandsons of two elders. The playboy reputation, I’m afraid, will never wash away now.” Having walked a considerable distance away, Mu Beichen shook his head and mumbled, but why did he sound so proud?

Han Yan was speechless for a moment. She had not expected to stir up so much trouble upon returning to the Capital. But could she be blamed? If it wasn’t for her grandfather and father continuously slandering her over the years, she wouldn’t have been so infamous.

”Young master, thank you for taking a stand for Yunyun. Even if Axiu were to toil like an ox or a horse, it would be hard to repay your kindness.” Aunt Xiu stepped forward gratefully and was about to kneel with Han Yunyun before Han Yan.

”Aunt Xiu, haven’t I told you before? From now on, Yunyun is my sworn sister. Her matters are my matters; please don’t be so formal anymore,” Han Yan quickly helped them up, saying.

”Young Master, even if you didn’t say it, I know. You’re just worried that the Zhuang Family will retaliate against us, mother and daughter. We know our lowly status, and dare not aspire to such heights. Besides, becoming sworn siblings with someone like us would tarnish your reputation, wouldn’t it?” Aunt Xiu forced a smile and said.

”Do I still have a reputation?” Han Yan muttered self-deprecatingly.

Beside her, Huayue and Jiang Yu Zhe both smiled knowingly.

”How can you not? The young master is as righteous as clouds in the sky, respectful to the virtuous and supportive to the less fortunate, truly admired by thousands...” Zirong said with a grave face, passionately speaking.

”Stop kissing up; speak human,” Han Yan said.

”Okay, okay, it seems there really isn’t any reputation left, long gone,” Zirong chuckled and said.
