Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

”Chairman Che is discussing important matters with a distinguished guest and has instructed that no one should disturb them, so please, Young Master Mu, I ask you to wait for a moment,” the guard said upon seeing Mu Hanyan arrive and mention the chairman’s name, not daring to neglect but unable to go against Chairman Che’s orders, he spoke even more respectfully.

”Have him come out and see me immediately,” Mu Hanyan said to the guard, her voice calm but carrying an inherent authority.

Seeing Mu Hanyan’s imposing manner and uncompromising tone, the guard felt uneasy, not knowing what to do.

”Forget it, I’ll go see him myself,” said Mu Hanyan as she walked straight ahead. Though the guard was strong, he couldn’t possibly stop her.

”Welcome to our Nanyan Commerce Chamber of Commerce. Today marks the grand opening of our Capital branch; we welcome distinguished guests from all corners...” As Mu Hanyan took a step, a hearty voice from Chairman Che resonated from the auction stage.

Like the other commerce chambers, the hall of the Nanyan Commerce was extremely spacious, specifically designed with an auction stage.

Mu Hanyan halted in her tracks, realizing that Chairman Che must have already come to terms with Xuanyuan Fengchen, but she didn’t know what the deal was. Either way, it was too late to interfere.

”What happened, Brother Han Yan?” Mu Zexian and others were following Mu Hanyan closely and saw her worried expression as she made her way to the inner hall; they didn’t understand what had happened and asked in confusion.

”It’s nothing; let’s find a place to sit for now,” said Mu Hanyan. With things as they were, she could only take one step at a time.

There were many seats prepared around the auction stage, separated by wooden panels. Upon seeing Mu Hanyan and her party arrive, Manager Zhou hurriedly cleared a private room for them.

”Is there an auction today?” Mu Hanyan asked Manager Zhou.

”It’s a grand celebration for the opening. Besides having an auction, we’re also offering appraisal services for various treasures,” replied Housekeeper Zhou.

Upon hearing Housekeeper Zhou’s words, Mu Hanyan felt a slight sinking feeling in her heart.

If she hadn’t guessed wrongly, Nanyan Commerce Chamber’s arrangement for today must be meticulously planned, and the invited Treasure Appraiser was no ordinary individual. However, Xuanyuan Fengchen was too cunning; even the imperial appraisers from various countries had been fooled by him. No matter how good the appraisers from Nanyan Commerce were, they surely couldn’t outperform them, could they?

”Aren’t you afraid of ruining your reputation?” Mu Zexian asked curiously.

”To ensure the success of today’s grand opening, the chairman and branch head have been planning for a long time. Today, we have invited Senior Ji from the Capital City Divine Calculator, who is renowned for his skills. It shouldn’t ruin our reputation,” said Housekeeper Zhou, glancing at Mu Hanyan.

Speaking of ruining reputations, what Housekeeper Zhou feared most was not others but the person in front of him, Big Playboy Mu. On returning to the Capital, he had damaged Senior Ji’s reputation, then beaten up his own brother, and it was said that he even dealt with the Zong Family’s Third Elder’s beloved grandson this morning. All in a single day, look how much trouble he stirred up.

However, since Mu Hanyan had stepped in to help just now, it somewhat eased Housekeeper Zhou’s mind, as he appeared not to be there to cause trouble.

”Senior Ji,” Mu Hanyan couldn’t help but smile wryly. If she had known earlier that Mu Nan and Chairman Che had invited Senior Ji, she would have left him some dignity yesterday. Unfortunately, Mu Hanyan had too many miscellaneous matters to attend to and seldom dealt with the Chamber of Commerce’s business. She only intervened at critical moments, so Mu Nan didn’t discuss it with her beforehand, and now it was too late for regrets.

Of course, Mu Hanyan didn’t regret her actions. What Senior Ji did yesterday was indeed somewhat excessive, and she would still have stepped in the same way if she could do it over again, only perhaps leaving a bit more face for Senior Ji.

”Young Master Mu, I’ve heard you have some disagreements with Master Ji. Today is the opening day of our Nanyan Commerce Chamber, and I hope Young Master Mu will show mercy. Our chairman will surely be grateful in the future,” Manager Zhou looked pitifully at Mu Hanyan. With his position, he had no right to make demands of Mu Hanyan, but as the shopkeeper of the Chamber of Commerce, he couldn’t just stay silent.

”Rest assured, I came here today just to enjoy the spectacle, I don’t want to cause trouble,” Mu Han Yan waved her hand generously. What a joke, this was her own family’s business, how could she possibly cause trouble here?

”Thank you, Young Master Mu, thank you, Young Master Mu,” Manager Zhou expressed his extreme gratitude, thanking Mu Han Yan repeatedly.

Mu Zexian and the others all looked at Mu Han Yan with admiration. Although Mu Han Yan had only returned to the Capital for one day, from the way Manager Zhou acted, it was clear that he was much more reverent towards her than towards Mu Zexian and the others. What does it mean to be a playboy? This is what it means, truly the playboy among playboys.

Of course, they also knew the reasons behind this. The relationships between the various aristocratic families and the Imperial Family in the Capital were intricately intertwined. Not to mention their Eight Great Families, even the princes of the Imperial Family wouldn’t dare to act recklessly.

Don’t be fooled by their group of young playboys who are usually domineering; in reality, they were all aware of their limits and knew very well who they could and couldn’t provoke. Take today, for example. Nanyan Commerce dared to open a branch in the Capital because they had a strong backer. Even if they wanted to stir up trouble, they would not dare to do so at such a time, for if any disaster were incited, their family would definitely not stand up for them.

That’s why, although Manager Zhou was wary of them, he wasn’t afraid that they would make trouble out of nothing.

However, Mu Han Yan was different from the others. Although others were also playboys, they were quite different from her. Just take yesterday, for instance. She smashed Master Ji Gaoxian’s signboard, slapped him in the face in front of a large crowd, and it was not an act of recklessness but a superior strategy. Even if Master Ji Gaoxian’s teeth were knocked out, he had to swallow his words and not dare to say a word too much.

In the end, it’s because others have the capital to be playboys and don’t make trouble without reason. Even if she smashed their signboard, they could only endure it. It’s also because of this reason that Manager Zhou was so afraid of her, continuously pleading with her in good terms.

A playboy is not scary, but a capable playboy, that is truly terrifying.

While Mu Han Yan and the others were talking, the auction had already started.

The first items up for auction were a few Beast Bone Relics, which were treasures from Mu Nan’s collection that Mu Han Yan had once seen. It seems that in order to quickly establish a foothold for Nanyan Commerce in the Capital, Mu Nan had brought out her treasures.

The quality of these Beast Bone Relics was exceptional and rare even in the Capital. The crowd below started making their offers, and the atmosphere was quite good.

In no time, the Beast Bone Relics were auctioned off for two hundred thousand, not a high price, but it was a good start for the auction.

The next items up for auction were a set of Cultivation Techniques and some strange flowers and herbs carefully prepared by Mu Nan, all of high grade. The final transaction prices greatly satisfied Mu Han Yan.

Then, a piece of Meteorite Gold Stone was brought to the stage, which was the Heavenly Blue Sand Mu Han Yan had won at the Yuan Family Mine—of course, it’s now the Mu Family’s Mine.

Compared to the previous items, the starting bid for this piece of Meteorite Gold was much higher. However, the wealthy families of the Capital had plenty of money, and soon enough, the piece of Heavenly Blue Sand was auctioned off for seven million, which was a bit higher than Mu Han Yan had expected.

The atmosphere in the entire auction hall reached its peak at that moment. No one expected that a little-known small Chamber of Commerce could produce Meteorite Gold of such quality. The audience below buzzed with discussion, viewing Nanyan Commerce with newfound respect.

With such a successful start at the opening of the branch, Che Xiang and others all had happy expressions and couldn’t hide their excitement.

However, Mu Han Yan was not as excited as them. Even now, that swindler Xuanyuan Fengchen had yet to show up, and she had no idea what kind of agreement Che Xiang had reached with him. Moreover, with Mo Yanhong’s character of holding grudges, he would certainly not just watch Nanyan Commerce rise to fame and secure its footing in the Capital.

With that in mind, Mu Han Yan glanced over at Mo Yanhong across the room. At this moment, Mo Yanhong was not paying attention to her but was looking at Che Xiang with a cold smirk at the corner of his mouth.

This bastard was definitely brewing a major ploy and looked ready to make his move now.
