Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Beside them, Huayue and Zirong couldn’t help but laugh out loud. Others might not know the details, but how could they not? Protected by Cangxuan Cloud Silk, even if Mu Chengyang was as strong as Han Yan, let alone being a bit stronger, no one could hope to hurt him.

They finally knew why Han Yan dared to slap Mu Chengyang without any fear and even deliberately provoked him. If they didn’t provoke him and force him to make a move, how could they continue with their performance?

Had it been someone else staging such a scene, at least they would need to employ some self-harming strategies. Injuring the enemy while injuring oneself, no one would benefit, but Han Yan was different; there was no harm to him at all.

”Such a despicable thing,” thought Huayue and the others. However, their gaze towards Han Yan was filled with admiration.

Well, none of Lady Mu’s associates were decent people.

Seeing that Han Yan was uninjured—not only uninjured, but he also appeared lively and energetic, looking better than ever—Mu Zexian and the others reassured, they took him to the workshop area.

Outside the gate, a group of people were craning their necks to look towards the Mu Residence. As soon as the gate opened, they quickly turned away, pretending to be just passing by, yet their curious eyes sneakily looked over.

Seeing Han Yan happily talking and leaving the Mu Residence with Mu Zexian and the others, their faces were filled with shock. They whispered to each other and, as they walked further away, even boldly pointed and gestured towards Han Yan.

At first, Han Yan didn’t notice, but along the way, more and more people gave her respectful salutes; the eyes filled with dodges clearly had an added touch of fear. Such looks were not unfamiliar to her. When she was in Heishi City, she always encountered such gazes whenever she went out.

Han Yan listened carefully with perked ears and couldn’t help but feel both amused and helpless.

”Do you know, Mu Han Yan from the Mu Family just came back yesterday, and early this morning she slapped Mu Chengyang across the face, I saw it with my own eyes,” a passerby quietly pointed at the distant Han Yan and gossiped.

”Which Mu Chengyang, the one from the third elder’s household of the Mu Family?” The listener looked puzzled.

”Nonsense, is there a second Mu Chengyang in the Mu Family?” The former said disdainfully.

”Daring to hit even him, who is this Mu Han Yan and how audacious she is?” The listener gasped in shock.

”The eldest grandchild of the Mu Family Patriarch, Mu Beichen, haven’t you heard?”

”So she’s the Family Head’s grandchild, no wonder she dares. But I heard that the third elder’s family’s influence is huge, almost rivaling the Family Head, this matter is probably not going to end well, even if she’s the grandchild of the Family Head, she’s likely to face big trouble.”

”Heh, facing big trouble? You’re wrong there, look, she’s all fine, having fun and chatting freely.” The man pointed at Han Yan and scoffed.

”That can’t be right, slapping the third elder’s beloved grandson and getting off scot-free?” Those listening found it hard to believe.

”I heard, after getting slapped, Mu Chengyang fought back and severely injured Mu Han Yan,” another person who seemed well-informed corrected.

”Severely injured? Does she look like she’s severely injured to you? I guess, Mu Chengyang felt humiliated and made up that story to save face,” the man unconvincedly pointed at the smiling, refreshed appearance of Han Yan, assuming so.

”That means, Mu Chengyang endured that slap in vain.” After all, this was the Capital where even common people had some cultivation, and their observation skills were extraordinary; naturally, they could tell Han Yan was completely unharmed.

”I’ve only heard about the Mu Big Playboy’s arrogance and high-handedness in Heishi City, thought he’d behave a bit when he came to the Zong Family, but instead of mending his ways, he became even more outrageous here, daring to slap even the third elder’s grandson of the Mu Family, such dominance, too dominating,” someone said in admiration.

”Ah, I remember now, you’re talking about that Han Yan from Heishi City, who smashed Master Ji’s signboard as soon as he entered the Capital, then beat up that little playboy Mu Zexian, and today, the second day, he slapped Mu Chengyang’s face.”

”You only remembered now, huh? Mu Baijia, Big Playboy Mu, Mu Siyi—that’s him. From now on, be extra careful. Don’t mess with him, because he doesn’t spare anyone, not even his own Clan. If we anger him, we might end up dead without a trace,” said someone in a low voice. Everyone took several steps back, maintaining a safe distance of at least thirty meters from Mu Hanyan.

Mu Hanyan wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and forced a bitter smile. He had been back for two days, not even two full days, and his notorious reputation had already spread throughout the Capital. He guessed that he would never be able to shake off this reputation in his lifetime.

”Hahahaha, Mu Chengyang really made a fool of himself this time.” Though Mu Zexian was slightly less capable, he faintly heard the discussions around him and burst into laughter.

”Mu Chengyang, relying on the Third Elder and Mu Chengxuan, usually acts all high and mighty. He finally got a taste of his own medicine this time.”

”Brother Han Yan, thank you for helping us get this revenge. I’ll treat you to a drink at noon,” Mu Zeran said generously.

”What drink should you, a little kid, have? I’ll treat,” another slightly older disciple from the Mu family rushed to say.

”You’re not that much older than me. Why call me a little kid? Anyway, I said it first. I’m treating this round.”

”I’m older, I’ll treat first.”

”I said it first, I’m treating.”

”Stop arguing, everyone. Brother Han Yan helped us get revenge; of course, we should treat him. Each of us can treat him for a day. I’ll go first today,” Mu Zexian said.

”Alright, then I’ll treat tomorrow,” Mu Zeran said.

”The day after tomorrow, I’ll treat.”

”And the day after that, I’ll treat.”

...

Before he knew it, Mu Hanyan’s banquet schedule was filled for the next half month.

”Forget it, I’ll just treat you guys,” Mu Hanyan said, not wanting to turn into a sot, and he smiled as he spoke. Playboy or not, she was a lady after all and genuinely had little interest in alcohol.

”How could that be right, Brother Han Yan? You’ve just arrived in the Capital; it should be us welcoming you and showing our hospitality, not the other way around,” Mu Zexian said.

”Since you all call me Brother Han Yan, it’s natural that the older brother should treat. That’s settled, I’ll treat,” Mu Hanyan declared irrefutably.

”Well, okay,” Seeing Mu Hanyan’s firm attitude, Mu Zexian and the others had no ground to object.

”Brother Han Yan, it’s a good thing you came back. Otherwise, who knows how long we’d continue to be bullied by Mu Chengyang.”

”Exactly. He always says we’re troublemakers without prospects, treating us like trash in the family. Brother Han Yan also caused enough trouble in his day but still was formidable,” Mu Zeran and the others grumbled as they walked.

No wonder Mu Zexian didn’t take it to heart when slapped unconscious by Mu Hanyan. This group of young playboys had been too harshly oppressed by Mu Chengyang and others, knowing the family let them be on their own, actually holding no hopes for them, feeling indignant yet helpless. Mu Hanyan had risen to fame in Heishi City, and after being summoned back to the Mu Family, he naturally became their idol, representing these young playboys, hoping to reclaim their dignity through this notorious playboy of Heishi City.

Mu Hanyan did not say much more. He, too, once sought others’ approval and respect, just like Mu Zexian and the others. However, in the end, she knew that to earn respect, one can only rely on oneself.
