Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

”Great Elder, Second Elder, it’s like this...” On Mu Chengyang’s side, a disciple from the Zong Family immediately bowed respectfully and recounted the recent events.

In the hall, where even the servants witnessed everything, he dared not embellish the story, recounting it simply once more.

”This Mu Hanyan has quite the audacity, having just returned to the Zong Family, to actually break the clan rules by instigating trouble; I’d like to see how the Family Head deals with this matter!” the Great Elder said angrily after listening.

Mu Zexian and the others felt their hearts sink, indeed it was Hanyan who threw the first blow, but as for inciting trouble, it was clearly Chengyang and his group who started with the cold mockery and sarcasm. The Great Elder speaking this way was clearly showing bias toward Chengyang.

However, the Great Elder and Second Elder had always been close to the Third Elder, and the three branches joining hands against the Family Head wasn’t a secret within the Zong Family; this came as no surprise to them.

In fact, Chengyang’s faction consisted mainly of disciples from these three branches, whereas Zexian and his group belonged to the Fourth and Fifth Elders, along with other branches’ disciples.

”Great Elder, Second Elder, maybe we should let them stop first,” suggested Zexian cautiously.

Hanyan’s situation was becoming increasingly precarious, even her steps grew disordered and at any moment, she could be injured at Chengyang’s hands.

”If they like fighting, then let them fight it out. Close the gates,” the Great Elder glared at Zexian, instructing the guards at the door. Regardless, they couldn’t let outsiders see and make a mockery of them.

Chengyang also heard the Great Elder’s words, clearly seeking to teach Hanyan a lesson and undermine Mu Beichen’s prestige; his followers attacked relentlessly, like a storm, launching palm after palm at Hanyan.

”Great Elder...” seeing Hanyan sway back and forth like a small boat in a storm under Chengyang’s relentless assault, Zexian grew even more worried and spoke up again.

”Hmm?” the Great Elder grunted coldly, glaring once more.

Zexian’s heart panicked, and he dared not speak any further.

Huayue and Zirong looked at each other, all seeing the confusion in each other’s eyes. They were all too aware of Hanyan’s combat power. How could she be forced into such a state?

”Mu Hanyan, if I don’t make you suffer today, I, Mu Chengyang, vow not to be a person!” seeing that the Great and Second Elders weren’t intervening, Chengyang, confident, attacked while using the Gathering Qi Transmission, his face fierce.

”Why bother? It’s just a slap, it doesn’t break bones or tendons, why make such a vicious vow? If not a person, what else, a pig or a dog? That won’t do; we are brothers of the same clan, if you want to be a pig or a dog, save it for your next life, don’t drag me into it,” Hanyan, too, used Gathering Qi Transmission, shaking her head.

”Mu Hanyan, I... I...” hearing her mention the slap again, Chengyang was so angry he could hardly speak.

”Sigh, one slap made you speechless; it’s also a good thing I held back and didn’t slap you a few more times, otherwise I wouldn’t know how to explain it to your family if you were driven mad.” Hanyan said, looking relieved.

Mu Chengyang was nearly bursting with rage and had given up on arguing with Mu Hanyan, knowing he couldn’t outwit her anyway. All he could do was grit his teeth and fiercely attack her.

Hearing the commotion, other family members and elders soon gathered. They all shook their heads in secret upon seeing the scene unfold.

This Mu Hanyan, always causing such a stir as soon as she returned. It was claimed to be a fair fight, but from the stance of the Great Elder and Second Elder, it was clear they were favoring Mu Chengyang. Moreover, since Mu Hanyan struck first, she would definitely be sternly punished. Yet, judging by the way things were going, she might not even need to be punished; it seemed inevitable she’d be injured by Mu Chengyang’s hand.

”Stop!” Just then, several elders rushed towards them. It was the Family Head, Mu Beichen, along with the Fourth and Fifth Elder.

With their keen eyes, they could see that Mu Hanyan was completely at a disadvantage and in grave danger, barely hanging on, a single misstep might result in her being injured by Mu Chengyang.

”You got lucky this time, but next time you won’t be so fortunate,” Mu Chengyang, seeing the Family Head and several elders arrive along with other family seniors, knew he could no longer discipline Mu Hanyan today. He glared at her and harshly said through Gathering Qi Transmission.

”Next time, make sure to wash your face clean before you show up; I don’t want to dirty my hands. Remember to wash both sides, because I’ll be hitting you left and right,” Mu Hanyan glanced around at everyone present and the elders rushing over, and sarcastically remarked through Gathering Qi Transmission.

”Seeking death!” Mu Chengyang, already ready to restrain himself, could no longer hold back upon hearing Mu Hanyan’s words and struck out with a palm again.

Since the Family Head and other elders had arrived, he restrained his blow, daring not to use his full strength but only fifty percent, venting his frustration and resentment.

”Chengyang, I’m no match for you, I was indeed wrong before, too impulsive, I apologize to you,” As he struck the final palm, Mu Hanyan suddenly stopped, bowed, and sincerely said in a loud voice.

What! Mu Chengyang was stunned.

”Boom!” A muffled sound echoed, and Mu Hanyan was sent flying, spitting out a mouthful of fresh blood before she even hit the ground.

Everyone fell silent, looking incredulously at Mu Chengyang, who was staring dumbfounded at his own palm.

In that final strike, he hadn’t even used fifty percent of his strength, just venting his emotions. Although it had seemed that Mu Hanyan was struggling and slightly inferior, she had endured for so long without issue; this final palm should not have been unavoidable. But he didn’t dodge; instead, he took the palm strike head-on.

Worse, he had apologized. Her previous words had been cold and venomous, how could she then apologize? And that look of sincere apology, it was so genuine that even Mu Chengyang was taken aback, forgetting to hold back his strike.

Tricked! This was the only thought in Mu Chengyang’s mind.

Mu Hanyan had struck him first; she was at fault. Then, heated by her provoking words, he too had struck back. Both were in the wrong, but in the end, his final strike severely injured Mu Hanyan. Most infuriatingly, just as he delivered that final blow, Mu Hanyan suddenly stopped and sincerely apologized to him, clearly putting him in the wrong.

Being youths, a heated verbal dispute was nothing unusual, and even a physical confrontation causing mutual injury was not a significant issue. However, when one party was already conceding and seeking mercy, and the other party still forcefully pursued it to the point of causing severe injury, that was excessive, especially among clansmen.

Tricked, grossly tricked! Mu Chengyang stared intensely at Mu Hanyan, furious enough to want to spit blood.
