Chapter 394: Chapter 394: Not Fit to Be a Foster Mother 35

While eating, he complained about Wang Xiaoyan’s cooking, ”Your school cafeteria has braised pork, braised ribs, and fried fish, why didn’t you get them? I’m not a rabbit; you only got me vegetables to eat. Tomorrow, get me some braised pork. I haven’t had it for so long, and I’m craving it.”

Seeing him lazing around like in a past life, Wang Xiaoyan angrily retorted, ”Eat, eat, all you know is eating meat. Have you even thought for a second that my aunt only saved up for my meals? Now we’re both eating, and the money on the meal card isn’t enough. I have to be thrifty. Never mind meat, I can’t even afford eggs.”

Fan Lei, with rice all over his mouth, looked up at her and asked, ”Did you ask your aunt for more money?”

Wang Xiaoyan slumped onto the sofa in defeat, ”I did ask, but my aunt wouldn’t give it. She said my brother is in the same grade and at the same school. My brother gets one hundred yuan a week for study materials; that should be enough for me too. I already told you, my aunt won’t give me more money, but you insisted I ask. I’m almost tired of being looked down on by her.”

”Damn, that old woman really needs someone to deal with her,” Fan Lei cursed.

Fan Lei put down his chopsticks and suddenly pulled Wang Xiaoyan closer, asking with ill intentions, ”Baby, didn’t you say your aunt has lots of money? How much does your aunt actually have? Is she a millionaire?”

”I... I don’t know, she should have tens of millions. Her husband’s family used to have a big courtyard that was demolished, and they got five houses, three shops, and over a million in cash. Later, my aunt bought another courtyard that was demolished too, and they got a lot more houses and money.”

Actually, several of the old courtyards Yuan Chun invested in were demolished later, and she got about ten houses and over ten million in cash, which she kept a tight lid on and told no one.

After all, you keep your wealth hidden.

Once, Yuan Chun intentionally made a will in front of Wang Xiaoyan, and the list of assets took several pages, but Wang Xiaoyan never saw it.

Fan Lei was tongue-tied, yet green with envy, ”Your aunt is so lucky, getting rich from demolitions and her husband dying. Your cousin is even luckier, inheriting tens of millions without lifting a finger. But with your aunt having that much money, when we get married, she’ll probably give you a few houses as part of your dowry, right?”

”Not a chance. My aunt can’t stand me, to the point of disgust. If not for my mom’s sake, my aunt wouldn’t even want to take me in at all. My aunt already said that apart from paying for my studies, she won’t give me a single cent more.”

Hearing this, a trace of malice flashed in Fan Lei’s eyes, ”Why not, you’ve lived in that house for years, you’re part of your aunt’s family. Why shouldn’t your aunt give you a house?”

”Why do you think? I’m not her biological daughter. If there’s blame, it’s for my fate being unlucky, being born to my mom and not in my aunt’s womb.”

Wang Xiaoyan sighed in response.

She turned her head, and both lunch boxes were already empty.

Her face darkened instantly, ”Fan Lei, do you have any conscience? I haven’t even had a meal, and you’ve eaten it all. Are you going to let me starve? I still have classes tonight.”

”You didn’t say anything, and besides, there were only two small lunch boxes. I haven’t had enough either; couldn’t you have gotten more food? Fine, fine, it’s just one meal. Just go buy instant noodles, and tomorrow remember to get more food. I play basketball every day, and I need a lot of energy, this isn’t enough for me.”

Fan Lei blabbered complaints and then left.

Leaving Wang Xiaoyan fuming with anger.
