Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 356: Chapter 356: Super Brat 40

The Shen family.

After Mrs. Shen returned to the county, she informed the Shen family that Yuan Chun had a considerable amount of money, totaling two thousand yuan. Consequently, the Shen family started reaching out everywhere to find Yuan Chun.

However, on the very night Eldest Sister-in-law Shen returned, the Shen family was burglarized.

The money from both Eldest Sister-in-law Shen and Second Madam Shen was stolen.

The two sisters-in-law immediately suspected their mother-in-law of taking the money. Angrily, they demanded its return from her, but Mrs. Shen cried and insisted she hadn’t stolen it, though none of the Shen brothers and sisters-in-law believed her.

Eldest Sister-in-law Shen and Second Madam Shen even gave their mother-in-law a beating.

Mr. Shen wanted to intervene, but Eldest Brother Shen and Second Brother Shen stopped him, ”Dad, you’ve turned a blind eye all these years while Mom secretly took valuables from home to help Grandma’s family, making our lives harder compared to others. Now Mom’s using the money hardworking brothers have earned to help a few cousins with their schooling and bride costs. Yet, you still defend her. Dad, Mom behaves this way because you enable her. If you had stopped her and harshly reprimanded her the first time she stole something for Grandma, would she have dared again?”

”By letting her continue, you pretend not to know, which only emboldens her. Now she dares to steal from us brothers too. Dad, if you keep defending Mom, don’t expect us to care for you both in old age. You can let those cousins take care of you.”

Upon hearing this, Mr. Shen was immediately silent.

Between his sons and his wife, his heart naturally favored his wife.

Once his sons married, they no longer shared the same concerns, but his wife was his lifelong companion.

However, compared to the matter of no elderly care from his children, that surely was more important.

Without his sons providing care in his old age, what would he do?

Thus, Mr. Shen returned to his room, pretending not to notice his wife being beaten.

After receiving a beating, Mrs. Shen provided no money, so Eldest Sister-in-law Shen and Second Madam Shen demanded control over the wages of their in-laws.

Mrs. Shen naturally disagreed.

As a result, Eldest Sister-in-law Shen demanded that Mrs. Shen transfer her job to her.

Mrs. Shen thought of her young nephews in her maiden family also nearing the age for marriage. If she gave up her job, what would she use to help her nephews with wedding costs?

Mrs. Shen resolutely refused, threatening her daughters-in-law that if they continued making trouble, she would separate the family, forcing them to fend for themselves.

The Shen family daughters-in-law reluctantly refrained from further disputes.

But despite being beaten, Mrs. Shen was unwilling to continue supporting her sons’ families. She required her two sons to each pay twenty yuan monthly for living expenses, or they wouldn’t get meals.

Mrs. Shen’s stance was firm.

The Shen family daughters-in-law caused a commotion, failing to retrieve any money, and also lost a significant amount in living expenses, leaving them so angry that they were slamming things around while cooking and working the next day.

Yuan Chun, far away a hundred miles, watched with great interest.

During this period, she hadn’t gone anywhere, simply staying home to watch live broadcasts of the Shen and Guo family dramas, which were even more captivating than the fairy tale dramas she followed in her original world.

In this little world, Shen Yuanchun didn’t wish to do much; she just wanted to be a carefree ”princess,” enjoying life’s pleasures idly.

As the Guo family and Shen family quieted down, Yuan Chun found herself bored and picked up her high school textbooks to study. By June, she registered to take the college entrance exam.

Yuan Chun was admitted to a university in Haicheng, far away from this county. Before heading off to university, she took the opportunity to watch another live drama of the Old Guo family.
