Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 374: Chapter 374: Not a Fit Foster Mother 15

”Officer, I’m a widow and really can’t afford to raise two children. The cost of living in Beijing is high, and I don’t have a formal job. What little money I earn is barely enough for me and my son. I can’t take on the additional burden of raising a niece, especially since a child without local residency can’t even attend school in Beijing.”

”You should advise the Wang Family to take care of Wang Xiaoyan. After all, my sister’s life was traded for the 200,000 yuan that is in Wang Dageng’s hands. Regardless of where that money went, Wang Dageng has an obligation to care for Wang Xiaoyan. Just because Wang Dageng lost his ability to take care of himself doesn’t mean he can rightfully refuse to care for Wang Xiaoyan.”

”Officer, if Wang Dageng refuses to raise Wang Xiaoyan, I will sue him to return all the money my sister earned with her life for Wang Xiaoyan.”

”Although Wang Dageng gambled away that money, he still owns houses and land. If the Wang Family doesn’t want to support Wang Xiaoyan, they should compensate her with the house and land.”

The original owner once mentioned that the Wang family’s house was registered under Wang Dageng’s name. Although a brick house in the countryside isn’t worth much money, no matter how worn it is, it is still the Wang Family’s home.

Even just to protect the house, the Wang Family had no choice but to continue caring for Wang Xiaoyan.

As expected by Yuan Chun, after this, there were no more phone calls from back home.

told her, ”The Wang Family is afraid you’ll really sue, and if Wang Dageng can’t come up with the money, the court will award the house and land to Wang Xiaoyan.”

So, the Wang Family had no choice but to continue raising a troublesome girl who would bring them nothing but debt.

”Mom, I’m back.”

Just as Yuan Chun hung up the phone, Xiao Bao walked into the grocery store with his little backpack.

The kindergarten Xiao Bao attended started a pick-up and drop-off service last year, so Yuan Chun no longer needed to pick him up and drop him off.

Yuan Chun beamed, ”Mommy’s precious eldest son is back. It’s so hot today, was the fan on at kindergarten?”

”Yes, Mom, we have a little fan in our classroom. It doesn’t blow too strong, not cold.”

”That’s good. You’re still young and shouldn’t be exposed to strong fans.” Yuan Chun took her son’s backpack and hung it aside, ”Mom made mung bean soup, it’s in the kitchen pot, go help yourself to a bowl.”

”Mom, did you put sugar in the mung bean soup?”

Xiao Bao’s eyes sparkled as he asked with a sweet smile.

Xiao Bao loves sweet things, particularly eight-treasure porridge, mung bean soup, sweet and sour pork, and sweet and sour ribs.

Yuan Chun dotes on her son and often makes these dishes for him.

But she doesn’t let him indulge in too much sugar.

Yuan Chun teased him, ”I did, so you can’t add more sugar. If it’s too sweet, your teeth will turn black.”

Xiao Bao quickly covered his mouth, ”No, I won’t add any more.”

Then, Xiao Bao went to the kitchen, took his little wooden bowl, carefully scooped a small bowl of mung bean soup, and sat on a small bench in the courtyard, enjoying it with relish.

His little eyes occasionally glanced at his mom in the grocery store.

The little boy was all smiles.

Xiao Bao is very well-behaved and won’t sneak sugar behind his mom’s back.

After eating, Xiao Bao put on a pair of sleeves, picked up a small basket, and ran to the backyard to collect eggs and pick vegetables.

Picking the vegetables for him and his mom’s dinner.

This was a task assigned to him by Yuan Chun.

Every day after school, Xiao Bao would conscientiously complete it.

In the corner of the backyard, Yuan Chun had cultivated a small plot for vegetables, growing many southern vegetables that are hard to find in Beijing, such as amaranth, water spinach, crown daisy, purple kidney beans...

Xiao Bao loves amaranth the most, enjoying it soaked in its red soup with rice. It’s deliciously fragrant.
