Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

The mere presence of the footage can largely prove Cheng Xinghe’s innocence.

Even if one insists on an explanation, they could say Liao Hongsheng had some kind of brain disorder that was triggered by Cheng Xinghe’s punch.

But far-fetched reasoning cannot be used as convicting evidence.

Chen Ming could easily use the surveillance to prove his innocence.

However.

He did not do so.

Chen Ming also frowned as he placed the storage device that seemed fully restored on the table, shaking his head slightly.

If things ended so quickly, there would be many things he couldn’t do.

He wanted to appear weak, to make people think he hadn’t obtained enough evidence, prompting those against him to proceed with their next actions.

Chen Ming turned his head and asked the officer, ”If the surveillance footage is damaged, what other evidence proves Cheng Xinghai’s involvement?”

The officer finally breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this question, ”The case against Cheng Xinghe is still under investigation. As the only person at the crime scene, he has major suspicion of committing the crime, so even if there’s not enough evidence, we can have him cooperate with the investigation.”

”Major suspicion? So regardless, we must keep Cheng Xinghe here for 24 hours, right?”

The officer said nothing, implicitly agreeing.

”Alright, then let me see him. I have investigative authority now.”

”You can investigate, but to see the suspect... only the team leader has that authority in our task force.”

”With no one in the office, I don’t have the authority to release or let anyone in.”

This is a rule.

A rule Chen Ming must abide by.

While he obtained a role in this matter by leveraging a rule favorable to him.

However, the authority granted by this status obtained through rules is not high.

The Legion, after all, will not allow the military to completely overshadow the police, the police cannot just be an appendage to the military.

Otherwise, the foundation of the entire government system would cease to exist amid chaotic power struggles.

What Chen Ming currently has is just the authority of an ordinary officer involved in the investigation.

The team leader’s authority to find the suspect is something Chen Ming truly cannot bypass.

This feeling of restriction is truly unpleasant.

Earlier, Chen Ming was physically constrained by the spiritual energy fluctuation of that level 6 Psychic, and now, he is limited by rules.

Chen Ming had nothing to say about this and could only ask, ”When will the team leader return?”

”I don’t know, maybe tomorrow.”

”Tomorrow? Isn’t being absent from the office during a major case a dereliction of duty?”

”It’s not, because he went out for investigation, went to the victim’s side to investigate.”

Chen Ming frowned and asked, ”Are you sure?”

”Uh... maybe somewhere else, but he’s definitely out to investigate.”

What a pity...

Chen Ming turned back.

If only this officer had a little more courage.

There are people from their faction in that hospital; they can confirm the team leader is not in that hospital.

If the officer dared say the team leader is there, Chen Ming would dare to directly use evidence to question the team leader’s absence from duty, seizing the authority to act.

But now... what a pity.

Chen Ming could only take the current investigation report and not remain further inside the police station.

Cheng Xinghai saw Chen Ming come out and immediately asked about Chen Ming’s situation with concern.

She, being a relative of Cheng Xinghe, could not participate in the investigation and had no authority to speak up or follow Chen Ming inside the police station.

Moreover, having never experienced such matters before, she needed time to adapt despite her intelligence.

She could only follow Chen Ming, listening silently, watching silently.

Trying to analyze from the clues she could see a feasible way of doing things.

Despite looking, Chen Ming’s thoughts were still focused on how to get in touch with Cheng Xinghe.

After all, forceful means are absolutely impossible; that level 6 Psychic won’t allow him to do so.

So how should he contact Cheng Xinghe?

Chen Ming sat leaning against a chair near the police station’s lounge, impatiently shaking his leg, tapping his toe on the ground.

His fingers, placed on the armrest, also tapped on the metal handrail.

Next to him, Cheng Xinghai, who had been focusing on the report in Chen Ming’s hand, gradually noticed Chen Ming’s small movements.

She seemed to hear some hidden rhythm in them.

She was just about to look up at Chen Ming’s face when Chen Ming immediately gestured for her to keep quiet.
