Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chen Ming already had a complete plan in his mind.

Of course, a plan is just a plan, an idea is just an idea, and he couldn’t possibly tell He Gu everything.

So, facing He Gu’s question about his plans, Chen Ming’s answer was rather reserved: ”I need to wait for now. Isn’t there a war coming soon? I have quite a few ideas I want to realize during the war.”

”Meaning you’re going to be somewhat free for the time being, right?”

”Uh... I still have to do the necessary tasks, like my research work and training my Spiritual Energy and Spiritual Power.”

He Gu felt a bit strange.

Normally, whether it’s an independent research institute or one under an organization, the research tasks assigned often come with very flexible deadlines, especially for Chen Ming’s institute.

After all, Chen Ming is a very special person, plus some tasks assigned to him have even been handled by their headquarters’ Spiritual Ability Research Institute. He understands that there really isn’t any time constraint for Chen Ming.

Sometimes, it is common practice to purposely drag out the research progress to cheat some funding.

Chen Ming’s main role is a Psychic, rather than a researcher, so research work shouldn’t have much impact on him.

Moreover, for Psychics, training in Spiritual Power and Spiritual Energy effects is something they need to do daily.

Even Psychics who have undergone systematic study need to meditate every day, which doesn’t take much time. Some Psychics can go through their daily meditation routine while sleeping.

For Psychics like Chen Ming from the Association, training is essentially just exhausting Spiritual Power, which takes even less time.

So He Gu translated Chen Ming’s statement into the idea that he was indeed quite free, with only some Spiritual Power training to occupy his time.

He continued based on the idea that Chen Ming was quite free: ”Have you heard about the Empire’s recent recruitment efforts?”

He Gu said recruitment, but Chen Ming immediately thought of the conversation between Association’s Psychics and Hu Yi he heard from An Wuping yesterday.

”Yes, I heard they are recruiting Psychics for war, right?”

”Correct, this is actually a signal. The Empire should soon take action regarding Psychics.”

He Gu was acting like he was about to share insider information with Chen Ming, who cooperatively asked: ”What kind of action?”

He Gu shrugged, looking as clueless as he could be: ”So far, we only know there will be action. The specifics are unclear, but it’s certainly not a bad thing.”

”However, I’ve heard the Empire’s action this time requires a larger number of Psychics, the more the better.”

”The more contributions made, the more beneficial it will be for us as Psychics overall.”

Seeing Chen Ming frown, He Gu empathetically said: ”I know it sounds quite odd, but if my information is correct, that’s indeed the case.”

”Do you want me to participate as well? I was already thinking about it; I’ve been always cooperating in the Mechanical Race research.”

”Or are you suggesting I go to the front lines?”

Chen Ming had previously heard from Association Psychics that the Empire planned to form special teams centered around the recruited Psychics, so he asked.

Yet He Gu immediately denied it: ”That’s not the case. There are always Psychics who can serve better in the rear than on the front lines, and their contributions in the Mechanical Race war are not solely judged by frontline involvement.”

”I just wanted to share this news because it’s information that will benefit all Psychics.”

”There’s no need to worry about your contributions being shared, as every Psychic’s contributions will bring absolute benefits to themselves.”

Chen Ming stared at He Gu for a while, sensing that He Gu likely knew much about the Empire’s future actions towards Psychics but kept it secret, appearing reluctant to reveal more.

Since they were just chatting casually, Chen Ming didn’t press further.

”Alright, at least I know now, and I’ll do what I need to do.”

Chen Ming responded without saying much.

However, He Gu brought up a new topic again: ”Do you have time to visit our headquarters with me?”

”Headquarters? For what purpose?”

”To meet Bai Quan.” He Gu introduced something surprising to Chen Ming: ”Bai Quan probably won’t be returning here in a short time, as you may have sensed.”

”I understand.”

Chen Ming nodded and said: ”He returned to the headquarters previously due to the Zuo Jing Black Mist Spirit Ability User assassination incident. Normally he could come back when the Cai Mo Star Realm affairs started.”

”But he hasn’t returned, so something must have delayed him.”

”There’s no sign of intervention from the Fourteenth Legion in Cai Mo, so I think it must be the Mechanical Race matters that are delaying him.”

”Coincidentally, the headquarters is about to take orders from the Empire to take over the Beinu Star Realm, right? This matter in Beinu seems connected to Cai Mo but actually pertains to the Mechanical Race.”

He Gu was a bit surprised that Chen Ming could obtain many news just by staying at the headquarters that he himself only learned about recently, and Chen Ming could accurately deduce the truth from the information gathered.

However, considering Chen Ming’s previous performance, accomplishing these tasks wasn’t too surprising after all.
