Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Cheng Xinghai’s gaze gradually turned cold.

She grabbed Chen Ming’s wrist and headed in a direction within the school.

”Where are we going?”

”Confinement room. I saw on the forum that Xing He was taken to the confinement room by a teacher, so I want to find him to confirm what actually happened.”

”...”

Cheng Xinghai seemed quite eager to see Cheng Xing He.

However, Chen Ming felt that finding Cheng Xing He wasn’t the top priority; they should first find the person Cheng Xing He hit.

Because Chen Ming always believed that based on Cheng Xing He’s behavior when he communicated with him in the simulation last time, it was unlikely he would hit someone to such an extent over the rumored reasons circulating on the forum. Those rumors were just that—rumors, not worth much.

Instead, the real questions were why Liao Hongsheng was so severely injured, and whether the injuries were as serious as claimed. These questions were key.

But they could also gather some clues about the person from Cheng Xing He’s side, so there was no harm in going.

Chen Ming followed Cheng Xinghai.

The location of the confinement room was also in the corner of the school, and it was one of the school’s backup guard rooms.

According to Cheng Xinghai’s explanation,

this backup guard room was usually not open to the public; it was primarily used as a confinement room. If any issues arose within the school, they typically went to a fully functional police station near the school’s main gate.

However, it possessed almost all the functions of a regular police station, except for external service.

This somewhat surprised Chen Ming.

Of course, he wasn’t surprised by the function of the guard room, but rather by the fact there was a police station here.

He was currently at the headquarters of the Fourteenth Legion, so it was unexpected for such a place to exist here.

But upon further thought, it wasn’t an issue.

After all, the headquarters wasn’t a military base; it was a comprehensive colony.

The authority of the military and the local administrative department should be appropriately separated.

Before coming, Chen Ming wanted to confirm whether Cheng Xing He might not be here.

After all, there was news on the forum that the person Cheng Xing He hit had a fractured skull and could die at any moment.

This indicated the incident escalated from a physical confrontation to a serious bloody conflict, and Cheng Xing He might no longer be in the confinement room.

But since Cheng Xinghai said this guard room had all the necessary functions, it probably had an interrogation room or similar facilities.

So Cheng Xing He might still be here.

Therefore, Chen Ming didn’t say much more.

Soon.

Cheng Xinghai led Chen Ming to their destination.

Although it was called a guard room, Chen Ming saw a two-story building from afar.

It was clear that there were more than just a few rooms, and it could barely be regarded as a ’room’; it was more like a local police station.

At this moment, a young-looking person, likely a student, was on duty in the hall of this guard room.

When Chen Ming pushed the door open and entered, the person looked up.

But he only saw Chen Ming without noticing Cheng Xinghai, who was behind him.

He then lowered his head again and waved his hand toward Chen Ming, saying, ”This area is not open to the public, please leave.”

”I’m looking for someone.”

”Who?”

”Cheng Xing He.”

The student, who had been lowering his head, showed a slight change in expression. He immediately looked up again and saw Cheng Xinghai following closely behind Chen Ming, and his expression became more changed.

Chen Ming took a few steps toward him, standing over him from behind the front desk, and asked, ”Is he here?”

”He can’t see anyone during confinement.”

”He’s still in confinement?”

The student ambiguously murmured a couple of times, unclear whether he answered Chen Ming’s question.

”Even family members can’t meet him?”

”This... generally not allowed, please understand.”

Chen Ming glanced toward the depths of the guard room.

He was itching to use his Spiritual Energy.

But the presence that had locked onto his Spiritual Energy Fluctuation was still monitoring him, and it briefly activated when he created the Shuttle Boat earlier.

Although there was no problem at that time, he was now at school, within the school’s guard room. If he used Spiritual Energy, the Psychic would definitely notice him.

So he wasn’t in a good position to directly probe inside with Spiritual Energy.

Chen Ming could only turn back and ask Cheng Xinghai, ”Are items confiscated when someone is in confinement?”

”Yes.”

Having received a confirmed response, Chen Ming turned back to the student and asked, ”Then what about his belongings?”

The student’s expression turned awkward, ”This...”

”?”

”Doesn’t confinement mean their belongings should be well-preserved? Isn’t this negligence?”

Faced with Chen Ming’s questioning, the student’s lips trembled, unable to utter a single word.

Chen Ming wanted to see if there was any record left on Cheng Xing He’s terminal, but it seemed hopeless now.

”And what about the person originally on duty here? The guard room couldn’t possibly leave a student here all the time, could it?”

The student’s voice grew softer, ”The teachers went inside just now... I’m just here temporarily...”

Had the interrogation already begun? That couldn’t be right.

Standing in the guard room’s hall, Chen Ming’s Psychic perception allowed him to clearly hear sounds throughout the building.

While he couldn’t hear breathing, if someone spoke, it definitely wouldn’t escape his ears.

Chen Ming increasingly felt something was amiss.

Cheng Xing He had only been in confinement for less than two hours, and the confinement room now had only this student who seemed to know nothing guarding the entrance? It was unreasonable.
