Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

This was Chen Ming’s subconscious reaction in the first instance.

After all, after entering the Star Gate, everything was pitch black in front of him, and he couldn’t see anything.

He couldn’t even sense the voice of He Gu, who was very close to him, apart from the darkness in his vision.

This situation was quite unusual.

However, Chen Ming’s danger awareness psychic ability gave no warning of any danger.

It was completely different from when he was forcibly dragged into the Crimson Dimension by the Host, when the danger awareness in his mind rang like a bell.

He also clearly sensed this point.

This was very contradictory.

Chen Ming didn’t think there was a problem with his mind, but this feeling was incredibly real.

Moreover, the force that was pulling at his Spiritual Power was still growing, continuously making it harder for him to maintain his mental state.

Although the part of his consciousness on the pseudo-body of the Fourteenth Legion might plunge into this abyss, unknown whether it existed or not, nor whether it was dangerous, without any fatal problems.

But he continued to concentrate, resisting this strange force.

Spiritual Power was depleting rapidly... no, his Spiritual Power wasn’t actually depleting.

The feeling from his body was clear; apart from a slight increase in routine consumption, there was no change in his Spiritual Power.

It was the part of his consciousness on the pseudo-body in the Star Gate that felt like the Spiritual Power was being depleted.

The pulling force came from all directions, putting him at the center of all the forces pulling at him.

It was as if his consciousness was located at the eye of a typhoon, and all corners of his consciousness were being swayed by this force, which gave him this illusion.

Wait, the eye of a typhoon... vortex...

Wormhole?

Chen Ming roughly understood where this force was coming from.

But how did something like the Star Gate or a Wormhole relate to consciousness?

And what was with the strange Spiritual Power consumption that only existed in perception?

Chen Ming didn’t understand, but he continued to resist the force from the Wormhole.

But that pulling force became more chaotic, more distorted.

As if it wanted to tear his consciousness into a vortex shape.

Chen Ming had to, while concentrating all his attention, continually divide his focus to manipulate different parts of his consciousness to counteract that pulling force.

But no matter how he resisted, the force grew stronger and harder to resist, and parts of Chen Ming’s consciousness became more and more exhausted.

Fortunately, Chen Ming’s primary consciousness, or his main body, was still outside the Star Gate.

So whenever the consciousness on his pseudo-body couldn’t withstand the pulling force within the Star Gate,

It just needed to temporarily return to the body, and the exhaustion from being immersed in the Star Gate would instantly dissipate.

He could then continue to energetically struggle against that force.

Constantly putting up resistance.

Finally.

Chen Ming noticed the starship around him shaking violently again.

The pitch-black nothingness before his eyes was gone, and the starlight once more appeared before him through the porthole, with He Gu still silently watching the scene outside the window beside him.

And behind the starship he was aboard was the rippling Star Gate.

Through the surrounding starry sky, Chen Ming quickly determined his current location.

He was now in a Star Realm directly under the control of the Fourteenth Legion, a star realm directly named Fourteenth.

Chen Ming took a deep breath.

Objectively speaking, during the brief journey when the starship passed through the Star Gate, only ten seconds had passed in reality.

But his pseudo-body’s sensory experience had lasted a full half hour.

Suddenly, He Gu turned to Chen Ming and asked, ”How do you feel?”

Initially, Chen Ming wondered if his situation was unique, which led to this experience while passing through the Star Gate.

But judging by He Gu’s question, it seemed that everyone, or every Psychic, would encounter this when traversing the Star Gate.

So Chen Ming immediately asked, ”What just happened?”

He Gu wasn’t surprised that Chen Ming quickly caught onto the underlying issue within his question; he promptly explained, ”This is a certain occurrence during long-distance teleportation through the Star Gate.”

”The Wormhole Singularity inside the Star Gate possesses the power to distort space-time, transporting us to the other side of the Empire in just ten seconds.”

”And during this process, this distorting force will naturally be perceived by people.”

”However, ordinary people’s consciousness is too weak to detect it at all.”

”Yet Psychics, due to their overly sensitive perception and strong cognitive abilities, will have this period of time, which should quickly pass for ordinary people, stretched out during the passage through the Star Gate.”

Listening to He Gu’s explanation, Chen Ming carefully recalled just now.

Perhaps, as he just entered the Star Gate, indeed, nothing had happened yet.

But half a second later, the ship’s vibration gradually ceased, and by then, his consciousness was actually detached from his body.

Just because the surrounding environment was too dark and he had focused all his attention on his consciousness, he didn’t notice the abnormality.

Surely by the time the ship’s vibration stopped, he should have sensed something.

Chen Ming, holding his head, said, ”So during that time...”

”For an easier experience, just relax and do not resist the feeling of consciousness being pulled away. It’s merely an illusion caused by space-time distortion; it’s instinct for you to quickly enter an unconscious state to swiftly get through meaningless events. It’s nothing to worry about.”
