Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Waiting for the fleet to arrive before beginning control of the Beinu Star Realm is indeed the most stable option.

But during the time the Fourteenth Legion’s fleet is arriving, if the local patrol team fails to act effectively, it could indeed lead to some additional civilian casualties.

This choice is made by others, and Chen Ming cannot change it.

So, there’s nothing much to say.

At least the scene of the Fourteenth Legion fleet emerging from the Star Gate is quite thrilling to watch.

This fleet size gave Chen Ming some goosebumps from excitement.

One day, he too will have the chance to establish an invincible fleet like this.

As Chen Ming stared at the Fourteenth Legion fleet outside, his terminal suddenly rang.

”Sorry.”

He said to He Gu next to him and then turned a corner in the corridor nearby, took out his terminal, and answered the call.

From the terminal came Cheng Xinghai’s usual greeting: ”Hey, hey, is Chen Ming there?”

Chen Ming responded as usual, ”I’ve answered your call, haven’t I? What’s up? I should’ve taken leave yesterday, right?”

Cheng Xinghai said confidently, ”Of course I know you took leave, but... I also heard you’re coming to the headquarters.”

”Yes, He Gu from the research institute invited me.”

”Is that so...”

”I was just wondering why the background during your class changed the other day, are you already on your way?”

”Yes, I’m about to enter the Star Gate, not sure how long the flight will be afterwards.”

”So soon?”

”What’s wrong?”

Cheng Xinghai seemed to be hesitating over something.

”It’s nothing, I was just thinking about how to handle classes afterwards, Uncle Bai has been quite busy recently, even if you come, he might not be able to help you with classes. Are you... coming to see me?”

This time, it was Chen Ming’s turn to hesitate without knowing what to say.

He thought carefully for a moment before saying, ”I shouldn’t stay for long this time, probably just a few days before heading back. Primarily for the military matters, Galor is the frontline.”

”Oh...”

Cheng Xinghai’s reaction was somewhat strange.

Chen Ming understood the reason very well, but he still didn’t dare to speak directly.

Because he still hadn’t figured it out, or rather since Bai Quan’s hint last time, he hadn’t thought about it at all.

He completely lacked any experience, and he had no idea what to do.

Cheng Xinghai also seemed to have sensed some of Chen Ming’s thoughts, with complex emotions intertwined in her voice: ”Let’s leave it at that, I’m at the headquarters... uh, just like that.”

The call was ended.

Chen Ming stood there staring at the terminal for a while before putting it away and returned to the window.

At this time, He Gu looked at Chen Ming with a full smile, identical to his expression a few days ago.

After all, Chen Ming hadn’t purposefully moved far, and with the hearing of a Psychic, even without trying to listen, it was clear who Chen Ming had just spoken with.

Now Chen Ming understood what He Gu meant, but facing He Gu, he didn’t show any expression.

Acting as if nothing happened, he asked, ”How long until we enter the Star Gate?”

”Soon, the headquarters’ fleet will complete its passage through the Star Gate and then give us twenty minutes, enough time for us to go through.”

Chen Ming leaned against the window, watching the Fourteenth Legion fleet continuing to arrive, though his thoughts had already flown somewhere far away.

He Gu suddenly leaned over and asked, ”What are you thinking about?”

Chen Ming shook his head, remaining silent.

He Gu just patted his shoulder without saying anything.

Ten minutes later, the grand fleet of the Fourteenth Legion finally completely left the Star Gate.

Part of the fleet headed towards the Capital Planet to take over government departments.

Another part of the fleet left the Star System, destined to take control of Beinu Star Realm’s original starry army.

As the Star Gate lit up, indicating permission for other ships to pass through, some ships previously waiting at the edge of the Star Gate immediately headed towards it,

including the spaceship Chen Ming was currently on,

The ship’s notifications repeatedly advised that the gravity simulation would soon be disabled, urging passengers to find the nearest safety railing and secure themselves with seat belts.

There was a seatbelt next to the window, so Chen Ming stayed there with He Gu.

After the final scan before passing through the Star Gate, all nearby ships entered the glass surface of the Star Gate,

peering out of the window, Chen Ming’s eyes were filled by pure darkness.

In this darkness, he couldn’t see anything, only feeling the ship constantly vibrating.

Even with his seatbelt on, he was being thrown about, feeling uncomfortable.

And due to the loss of sight, Chen Ming’s other senses intensified.

A sensation of being pulled by some force enveloped his whole body.

This made him slightly uncomfortable, but he gradually got used to it.

The vibrating of the ship subsided gradually.

However, Chen Ming waited for a while, yet the surroundings of the spaceship didn’t light up again; time seemed to pass slowly.

In the Empire’s Star Gate, subjective time felt as if it had gone by for ages, but outside the Empire, objective time had barely reached half a second.

Then, suddenly in this brief moment, Chen Ming felt a new force tug at his consciousness.

Should he be pulled by this force, his consciousness seemed ready to plunge into an abyss.
