Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

He Gu lightly cleared his throat and said, ”You’re quite right, it’s indeed the matter of the Mechanical Race war that has delayed Bai Quan’s journey.”

”As you should know, our Fourteenth Legion has been acting as the reconnaissance and vanguard for the war against the Mechanical Race ever since we established our branch here.”

”Bai Quan, as the actual controller of the branch and a Vice Admiral who made his ranks in the battlefield, has many tasks.”

”So before the war enters the preliminary stage of engagement, he should not be able to return.”

”But he has many things to discuss with you personally.”

”Is that so?” Chen Ming asked uncertainly, ”Isn’t anyone at the headquarters worried about my Spiritual Energy?”

”Of course they are, but when I’m by your side, there will be fewer people worrying, and once the numbers dwindle, they can be ignored.”

”Hmm... let me think about it.”

Chen Ming did not respond hastily.

Because he couldn’t quite say whether it was Bai Quan who instructed He Gu to say this or if it was He Gu saying it on his own.

Chen Ming has been in contact with Bai Quan all along, albeit not as frequently as before, but at least in the last conversation Bai Quan had never mentioned him going to the headquarters.

Of course, Chen Ming wasn’t suggesting He Gu was lying, Bai Quan might not be able to clarify everything over the phone.

He simply needed to consider it.

And while considering, he also took the opportunity to ask He Gu a question related to what he had just mentioned.

Does He Gu have any new intelligence regarding the war with the Mechanical Race?

Although Bai Quan continued to send him daily reports after heading to headquarters,

the contents of the reports couldn’t possibly detail everything, there would always be things Chen Ming couldn’t discern.

Moreover, since Bai Quan’s temporary departure, Chen Ming had no appropriate reason to engage with matters related to the war with the Mechanical Race.

His experience within the army was just a few months, having only learned military knowledge for a short time.

No one would tell him military-related news.

Even the acting Jing Xian at the branch wouldn’t find it worthwhile to inform Chen Ming of military-related news.

So, Chen Ming urgently needed some intelligence on these matters.

Although He Gu was also a researcher stationed in the back, He Gu had always shown a very friendly attitude, so Chen Ming felt he could at least learn about the situation at the front line from him.

He Gu didn’t hesitate and decided to tell Chen Ming the information he wanted to know.

Even though the main purpose of his visit this time was actually to trade with Chen Ming, he was solely qualified to deliver two Enlightenment Nerves worth ten thousand Contribution Points each.

His secondary purpose was just to deliver Bai Quan’s message.

With the items delivered and the trade completed, and the message conveyed, he could have left already.

But he stayed, and even while chatting with Chen Ming, he revealed some information.

Partly because, indeed, the Empire’s stance on Psychics depended on their performance in the war against the Mechanical Race.

And Chen Ming, who is the best in the Fourteenth Legion in Mechanical Race research and holds the dual identities of Psychic and researcher, would certainly be a key figure for the Empire in judging Psychic performance.

He knows a lot, but these ”lots” are subject to limitations and can’t be casually disclosed.

That’s why he seemed to be somewhat secretive.

And the reason he chose to chat with Chen Ming about these matters was also partly to foster a closer relationship.

Therefore, the question Chen Ming raised now seemed completely fine to him.

He indeed knew some information heard from others in this regard.

He slightly organized his language and said, ”Previously, our Legion had already collaborated with nearby Battle Zones to complete preliminary reconnaissance of the surrounding information of the Mechanical Race Star Realm, confirming the defensive forces deployed by the Mechanical Race at the border.”

”After almost finishing the investigation of the outer regions, it’s the second stage of reconnaissance where we attempt infiltration into the Mechanical Race Star Realm to gather more detailed intelligence.”

”Starting from the rear of the Mechanical Race as its defenses are relatively vacant.”

”I remember this information was initially provided by you back then?”

”Yes.”

In order to plunder the Mechanical Race’s units and enable his own Mechanical Hive Mind Network to produce new consciousness autonomously, Chen Ming went over there, so he happened to know quite a lot and shared the information with Bai Quan.

What He Gu had just mentioned were all things that Chen Ming actually already knew.

He needed updated intelligence.

He Gu seemed to sense Chen Ming’s thoughts and continued, ”And while we are infiltrating the interior of the Mechanical Race Star Realm, other areas haven’t stopped.”

”The reconnaissance troops are continuing to expand outward to investigate surrounding Star Realms, ensuring a favorable combat environment when the time comes.”

”The war is not limited to within the Star Realm; the outskirts of the Star Realm are equally crucial.”

”Additionally, we need to confirm the state of Dusk to prevent them from taking advantage of the war between us and the Mechanical Race.”

When He Gu mentioned Dusk, Chen Ming interjected, ”Dusk indeed hasn’t stirred for a long time, but I think they can’t make much of a move.”

Chen Ming didn’t talk much about matters regarding Dusk or his own Spiritual Energy.

After all, currently, only he knows the situation of Dusk in the Dusk Star Realm, which is another card known to others aside from the Insect Race.
