Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 594: Chapter 185 New Discoveries

The broken insect glue in Chen Ming’s hand looked really delicious.

And his instincts didn’t warn him that eating this insect glue was dangerous.

Why not... give it a try?

This thought flashed through Chen Ming’s mind.

He recalled the Empire’s scientific experts’ research report on the Insect Race he had previously read.

The research report noted that such food from the Insect Race was acceptable for human consumption.

And also quite delicious.

According to experimental records.

This substance is essentially confirmed to be non-toxic.

Out of tens of thousands of volunteers who consumed it, only 0.2% had a slight food poisoning reaction due to personal physical conditions.

However, in the second test, the situation of these 0.2% returned to normal.

The food poisoning caused by insect glue is random, possibly related to individual constitution, not fixed.

So, even though there’s a probability of food poisoning, insect glue is indeed edible.

After all, some people are allergic to peanut butter, and some are allergic to raspberries, which is somewhat similar to food poisoning, probably.

And 0.2% probability is pretty low...

Thus, Chen Ming decisively enjoyed this portion of insect glue.

Half an hour later.

Chen Ming walked out of the hospital at Supreme Point.

He had a stomach wash with the help of a robot.

Unfortunately, the 0.2% probability hit him.

At that moment, the scene of Old Wu calling him a jinx flashed through Chen Ming’s mind again.

Without hesitation, he noted down in his diary to send Old Wu some insect glue as a local specialty, listing it under important matters.

Overall, other things that needed recording were almost done before his food poisoning.

So today, Chen Ming, like always, chose to rest.

The next day.

The first day of the new week.

Chen Ming fully recovered from food poisoning, regained his spirit, and began studying early with Bai Quan as usual.

But just half an hour into his study with Bai Quan, Brilliant suddenly sent a message requiring Chen Ming to personally receive.

Chen Ming adeptly multitasked.

While continuing normal teaching with Bai Quan, he directly read the information sent by Brilliant using spiritual energy.

Just now, Brilliant received a message from a Dusk individual out exploring.

That Dusk individual discovered a planet possibly inhabited by the Mechanical Race.

Chen Ming didn’t show any particular expression, but immediately projected the ship sensor image from the Dusk he controlled in front of him.

Though he couldn’t use the Empire’s internal superluminal communication network after leaving the Empire.

He could still construct a communication network between different Dusk individuals based on his spiritual energy.

As long as he allowed, different Dusk could directly communicate with each other.

Thus, information gathered by outbound ships doesn’t need to return before transmission; upon discovery, Brilliant can receive it immediately.

This is why Chen Ming, despite having only these few Dusk individuals, maintains fair exploration efficiency.

Through the image sent by the ship sensor controlled by the Dusk he was observing.

It showed the ship was stopped near the middle of a star system, not too close to the inner areas.

Clearly, the ship exited the Superspace Channel and found something odd only after entering the star system for a while.

Not far from the ship’s location, the third planet of the six planets from the inside out in the star system.

On the orbit of a planet without an atmosphere, whose surface appeared desert-like and tawny from space, there was a distinct mechanical construct.

But the specifics weren’t clear.

After all, the Dusk Chen Ming currently controlled was merely commanding a destroyer.

Thus, Brilliant only suspected traces of the Mechanical Race were found.

As for why Brilliant immediately suspected the Mechanical Race.

It’s because years ago, the Empire focused on handling Dusk due to low returns on continued frontier expansion and lingering Dusk troubles.

And lately, Dusk has barely recovered from the havoc Chen Ming left behind.

Though not entirely recovered, Dusk seems to believe they have fully eliminated all Dusk individuals possibly linked to Chen Ming.

Currently, they’re undergoing post-disaster reconstruction, unlikely to appear in this odd location.

So the remaining possibilities are another civilization’s heritage or their closely related Mechanical Race.

As for why Brilliant doesn’t suspect another civilization’s heritage here.

It’s because the ship Chen Ming currently controls captured an image.

Just now, a craft resembling a spaceship brought a mechanical construct to the planet’s orbit.

If it were the heritage of that civilization, it is unlikely that such construction would continue in the planet’s orbit after all these years.

So it could only be the Mechanical Race.

Currently, Chen Ming doesn’t know any other intelligence, apart from humans of the Empire, Dusk of Dusk, and Mechanical Race of the Mechanical Race, possessing intelligence and established civilization structure in the universe.
