Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 578: Chapter 181: Unexpected Bounty, Unexpected Gains

Although a week had passed since Chen Ming had spoken with the director.

At this moment, he was calculating the yield he had just obtained from the Space Station that was hijacked by Zuo Jing.

Just the moment he finished talking with the boss before.

He had directed Gamma B to move toward the coordinates of the hijacked Space Station.

However, upon arrival.

The situation at the Plant Research Station was a bit more troublesome than he imagined.

It wasn’t that someone had already resolved the matter at the Space Station before him.

After all, by the time he arrived, within this Star System in the Edge Star Realm, which housed a star with a unique light radiation wavelength.

Besides a few Zuo Jing ships that charged at Chen Ming and self-destructed upon seeing him, which he then destroyed, there was nothing else.

Chen Ming hadn’t even seen anyone from the Harmony Plant Research Institute Company.

Nor had the Zuo Jing members blown up the Space Station yet.

The Space Station still remained intact, orbiting the only planet in the Star System’s habitable zone, an otherwise lifeless barren planet.

It also wasn’t that the subsequent Zuo Jing backlash was terribly frantic.

Because apart from a few Zuo Jing patrol ships that tried to cause trouble when Chen Ming’s fleet entered the Star System from Superspace.

There was barely any other activity in the Star System, not even much movement from the Space Station.

Of course, Chen Ming knew that from the start of the incident until his fleet’s arrival in this Star System, three days had already passed; whatever commotion should have already occurred in the past few days.

Moreover, according to the information provided by the director.

The Space Station belonging to the Harmony Company, although occupied, still maintained functional communication devices and was not like the former Mining Space Station which had its external communication means blocked.

Therefore, the company could remotely lock down some of the Space Station’s permissions from the outside and disable certain functions of the Space Station.

Turning the Space Station into a large piece of scrap metal.

However, Chen Ming couldn’t rule out the possibility that someone was supporting Zuo Jing from behind, so he had doubts about whether some equipment on the Space Station, especially defensive weapons, could still be used.

But honestly, the Space Station’s weapons were just so-so.

This Space Station, no larger than two kilometers, after all, was a research station not specifically a combat warship, and couldn’t mount any powerful weapons.

What truly bothered Chen Ming was the alarming amount of spaceship debris floating densely around the Space Station.

All these debris pieces came from the usable spaceships on the Space Station.

They had all now been reduced to fragments.

Probably blown up by Zuo Jing.

If it were only spaceship debris, it wouldn’t be a big deal.

Chen Ming could activate the Spaceship Shield, lead with the Law Enforcement of the Fourteenth Legion, and have five Hammerheads line up side by side to plow through.

But on the sensors of Chen Ming’s fleet ships, it showed.

These broken spaceship remnants still had plenty of explosives maliciously placed by Zuo Jing, ready to detonate at any moment.

A slight collision might cause an explosion.

If Chen Ming’s ships really lined up and crashed through, it would definitely cause a chain explosion.

He didn’t mind blowing up his own ships.

But the internal situation of the Space Station was still unclear; he couldn’t be sure whether the blast’s aftermath would affect the Space Station.

In the event of a chain explosion leading to the Space Station’s destruction, that would be catastrophic.

Currently, aside from the Zuo Jing members, there were still many surviving researchers on the Space Station.

According to the information Chen Ming gathered about the bounty.

Since the Space Station could be controlled externally and because of the timely reaction of the Space Station management, many researchers successfully hid in the highest safety area of the Space Station, a large living area that serves as an escape pod.

Only a few researchers were captured by the rioting Zuo Jing members, so the personnel loss during the riot was not significant.

And within the living area, there was food, accommodation, and various basic infrastructures, so it wasn’t too bad after all.

However, now the situation has changed somewhat.

Even though Chen Ming saw no one from the Harmony Company upon his arrival.

They did come every day with ships to patrol, risking possible attacks by Zuo Jing.

To confirm the general status of the Space Station and to publicize the information.

Over the past few days.

Zuo Jing controlled the Space Station’s power system and implemented a complete power cutoff on the entire Space Station.

Only the uncontrollable emergency backup power is still running, barely maintaining minimum survival standards for the Space Station personnel.

So currently, the living area’s situation is unlikely to be optimistic.

We must find a way to rescue the people promptly.

Yet, the spaceship debris with numerous explosives outside almost blocks all possibilities of rescue by ship.

Moreover, communication between the Space Station and the outside world has been completely cut off due to the power outage, making it impossible to confirm the personnel status on the Space Station.

Zuo Jing not only turned the Space Station into a steel turtle but a spiky steel turtle at that.

This steel turtle might even explode with a slight movement.

It’s troublesome just dealing with Zuo Jing’s actions, let alone conducting a rescue mission.

Chen Ming also considered abandoning all the researchers above and just dealing with Zuo Jing.

Even so, any unforeseen incident could potentially lead to the complete desolation of the Space Station, making additional bonuses out of the question.
