Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 589: Chapter 183: The 2nd Cocooning of the Insect Queen_4

And directly absorbed the majority of the Insect Race within the Insect Nest, leaving only those responsible for its defense.

The Insect Queen began to cultivate a new generation of Insect Race with Energy Crystal Crab genes.

Time quickly passed, and two days went by.

Under the Insect Queen’s control, all Insect Race individuals condensed an Energy Crystal capable of storing large amounts of energy within their bodies.

This greatly extends the duration of all Insect Race individuals’ activities outside, and to a certain extent, enhances their combat capabilities.

More energy reserves undoubtedly mean a stronger body.

However, the condensation of Energy Crystals might also lead to some negative impacts.

For instance, during battles with enemies, the Energy Crystals on the Insect Race corpses might be taken.

Yet, compared to the negative effects of some additional energy consumption, the advancement in the quality of the entire Insect Race is clearly more important.

And sufficient energy also implies that the expansion speed of the Insect Race will increase once more.

The evolution speed of the Insect Queen will certainly accelerate again.

Chen Ming eagerly anticipates the day when the Insect Queen evolves into a Cruiser.

If necessary, he might even willingly sacrifice a Cruiser, just like now, converting an artificial Cruiser into a biological Cruiser under his control.

Since the day when the Insect Queen re-evolved the Insect Nest once more.

Another four days passed in the blink of an eye.

The research equipment Chen Ming purchased earlier finally arrived.

There was absolutely no deliberate delay on Chen Ming’s part to allow time for the Extraordinary to research biotechnology by intentionally postponing the progress until Old Wu and all the equipment were gathered before notifying, causing any delays.

In short, the Extraordinary roughly understood the situation of these Spiritual Fungal Creatures over the past week.

Therefore, biological research can indeed be set aside for a while, and it’s time for the Extraordinary to research what it wants to study.

The research findings from the Extraordinary were written out in a manner Chen Ming could comprehend with his current biological knowledge and sent to Chen Ming.

However, Chen Ming did not read it immediately and continued with his morning classes with Bai Quan.

It was only at noon, during his meal and rest, that he opened the document on his terminal and contacted the Extraordinary.

But before he could read it, the Extraordinary directly concluded, saying, ”These Spiritual Fungal Creatures actually pose almost no harm to humans.”

”?”

”What?”

Chen Ming hurriedly swallowed the food in his mouth to avoid choking.

He had clearly seen these fungi kill several Zuo Jing people before, how could they pose no harm?

The Extraordinary adjusted the content on Chen Ming’s terminal to a page of photos, specifically the photos of the damaged cultivation chamber in the lab when Chen Ming controlled the Space Station.

Several Zuo Jing corpses lay there.

”According to my research, I found that the genes of this Spiritual Creature were artificially modified.”

”They were implanted with some special root-source genes, which cannot undergo secondary modification; any modification results in the death of the species.”

”The effect of this gene is only one: human body tissues are toxic to them.”

”Thus, after these spores killed those few people, they also died.”

”Moreover, since they are Spiritual Creatures, even fungi indeed possess a faint consciousness.”

”They will actively avoid things that are dangerous to them.”

”That’s why I think they pose almost no harm to humans.”

”And look here.”

The Extraordinary explained, marking out a particular device in the photo.

”It was this device that instantly released a large number of fungal spores, leading to the death of those people.”

”Under normal circumstances, the spore concentration in the air is not high, and spores will die immediately upon contacting human skin tissues or mucous tissues in the nasal and oral cavities.”

”Dead fungi might cause some minor respiratory infections but are certainly not fatal.”

”To reach a lethal spore quantity, it is almost as if inhaling pure spores.”

”Therefore, I suspect there is a special device on the Space Station used by humans to deliberately collect extremely high concentrations of spore clusters for release.”

”This is the Space Station’s dedicated method for dealing with intruders.”
