Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 575: Chapter 180: Surging Waves_2

Just after Chen Ming finished the call with the factory director and the boss.

Far within the Ascension Star System, at the headquarters of Sinda Corporation in the Empire.

The company’s board meeting was in session.

The entire meeting table was currently in a heated argument.

The topic of the argument was the recent news of the director’s death they had just received.

Some said it was Chen Ming’s threat, and the company could not shamelessly proceed.

Others believed it was assisting the factory director and that they should continue their previously established rapport with Chen Ming.

There were those who played the mediator, saying that since the company had already officially dismissed the director, Chen Ming’s actions and the company’s attitude towards him were two separate matters, making the argument unnecessary.

Of course, there were those who enjoyed fanning the flames, with one director relishing the sight of his peers stooping to argue over such matters.

Even though there were only about a dozen directors including a few new ones, the board meeting felt like a marketplace.

The chairman sitting at the head of the table was not particularly concerned with the specifics of the directors’ arguments.

It wasn’t that Chen Ming casually killed someone that really agitated them, but rather the subsequent impact of Chen Ming’s actions.

It had to be said that the manner of the director’s death was horrifying.

He was burned to death by the intense heat inside the spaceship.

While the Space Station Administration must have orchestrated the incident, the execution was undoubtedly Chen Ming’s doing, as only he could achieve such a feat.

This forced the directors to ponder if Chen Ming might do the same to them in the future.

The directors had no means to confirm whether Chen Ming controlled any spaceship, and they indeed faced the possibility of meeting the same fate at his hands.

The more interaction they had with Chen Ming, the greater this possibility became.

After all, as the saying goes, the company represents a power, and they are businessmen, both of whom are inherently profit-driven.

No one could guarantee that their relationship with Chen Ming would remain unchanged forever, which is why the prospect of an unexpected sudden death caused some directors concern.

However, the chairman wasn’t worried about this.

For anyone who grasped the full picture of the situation, it was evident that the director was asking for it.

It was merely that some directors didn’t believe this, and nothing more.

Moreover, the factory director had already spoken to the chairman about this in advance.

He also mentioned that Chen Ming was specially invited to deal with the director, which was sort of a prior notification.

Of course, the chairman couldn’t disclose this matter, as it also served as leverage for the factory director.

He only needed to remember that what emerged from this situation was Chen Ming’s loyalty to friends.

Continuing to argue in the board meeting held no purpose.

Hence, the chairman coughed a couple of times and said, ”Stop for a moment.”

Once the meeting room gradually quieted down, the chairman displayed a document on the screen beside him and said, ”Evaluating Chen Ming can’t just be done with words; we need evidence.”

”Previously, when Chen Ming was still with Dusk, during the joint meeting organized by the Fourteenth Legion.”

”The Fourteenth Legion specifically invited several psychology professionals to create a personality model to analyze Chen Ming.”

”You’ve all seen the results.”

The chairman pointed to the content on the screen behind him and said, ”Chen Ming is a good person.”

”At least, if you don’t provoke him, he certainly won’t go after you for no reason, and he’s even quite good to his own people.”

”If anyone has concrete evidence to prove that Chen Ming isn’t a good person, and might come to the board meeting to kill indiscriminately, feel free to bring it up now.”

One director immediately said, ”Isn’t the manner of death of the head of the Space Station Administration the best evidence? Chen Ming’s mind must have been twisted by the torment he suffered over at Dusk, which is why he acted so ruthlessly upon his return.”

The chairman nodded and said, ”Oh.”

”Then explain the incident before the invasion of the Space Station at Zuo Jing and the Battle Zone, where someone attempted to assassinate Chen Ming, but he only broke their hands and feet, rendering them unable to act.”

”And when people with explosives strapped to their bodies blocked Chen Ming at the No. 1 Space Wall entrance during Zuo Jing’s invasion of the Space Station, Chen Ming chose to take the risk and enter the dock instead of simply eliminating these infiltrators from Zuo Jing.”

”He could have directly killed them, blown up a bunch of ordinary people, then casually hid inside the Space Station. With five cruisers outside, who could have fought their way in? Wouldn’t that have been more convenient?”

”If Chen Ming’s personality were twisted, it would have manifested earlier.”

The chairman wasn’t angry, as he understood that this was necessary for the company’s operation.

There needed to be opposition on certain matters; even if the company experienced some internal friction, it shouldn’t be a one-man dictatorship.

”In short, even if you propose cutting ties with Chen Ming, the fact that Chen Ming can control spacecraft can’t be changed. Isn’t the risk of being eliminated by Chen Ming even greater?”

”If you have a good relationship with Chen Ming, would he come to kill you just for fun?”

The chairman’s gaze focused on the director who had just spoken and said, ”If there are any more opinions, any of you can initiate a vote to decide whether to maintain a friendly relationship with Chen Ming.”

No one spoke at the meeting table.

The directors all realized that though they argued, their actions would undoubtedly be driven by profit first.
