Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 186: Chapter 155: Erroneous Estimate, Believing in Peach Blossom Spring

Seeing the survivor’s question, Jing Shu considered it for a moment, then replied, ”This is indeed not Peach Blossom Base!”

There was no need to lie about this. The Han Jin Association Fleet didn’t have any of those Evolutionary Plants, so a lie like that would be too easily exposed!

”So it really isn’t Peach Blossom Base!”

”The leaders at Peach Blossom Base already clarified this. You guys were just the ones who wouldn’t believe it!”

As the crowd was discussing this, Qin Haonan asked in confusion, ”Leader, is Dawn Base really that strong? They captured over twenty of the enemy’s large ships with a single cruise liner?”

Ren Yuanyang frowned, pondered for a moment, and shook his head decisively. ”In a direct confrontation, Dawn Base could never defeat the United Fleet. Even if the United Fleet had just been through a fierce battle, Dawn Base wouldn’t have stood a chance!”

”Are you saying Dawn Base didn’t engage the United Fleet directly?” Qin Haonan still couldn’t wrap his head around it. ”But if they didn’t fight them head-on, how could they have captured them?”

”If you were the captain of Dawn Base, what would you do?” Ren Yuanyang countered, not answering the question directly.

Qin Haonan’s brow furrowed. After a long moment of thought, he finally spoke. ”The United Fleet captured the Han Jin Association Fleet, acquiring their cannons and firearms. Even if they were tired from the battle, they could have used their superior numbers to fend off an attack from Dawn Base. If you wanted to capture them, the only way would be to cut the head off the snake! But surely the United Fleet wouldn’t have let a team from Dawn Base get close to their leadership?”

”What if the United Fleet underestimated the power of an Evolver? Or what if they knew nothing about Evolvers at all?” Ren Yuanyang pressed.

Qin Haonan paused, then nodded, a thoughtful expression on his face.

”Do you know the biggest problem we’ve faced in developing the Evolution Potion?” Ren Yuanyang continued, not waiting for Qin Haonan to reply. He answered his own question. ”It’s that the average human body can’t withstand the potion’s potency. If it could, that heroine who escaped from the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier wouldn’t have ended up bleeding from her eyes and nose with her skin cracking all over. So, once you become an Evolver, your physical constitution becomes far stronger than an ordinary person’s!”

”No wonder Jin Ziyu is so strong!” Qin Haonan recalled the differences between Jin Ziyu and Jianghu. ”And Jianghu! When we rescued him, he climbed onto the speedboat much faster than Lin Mu!”

An Evolver’s physical constitution is enhanced across the board—strength, agility, intelligence, reaction speed, and more!

When you combine all these factors, an ordinary person has virtually no way to fight back if a seasoned Evolver gets in close!

”But wait, Leader. Wasn’t Jianghu ’invited’ to Dawn Base at gunpoint? If Evolvers are so powerful, why didn’t he resist?” Qin Haonan asked, looking confused.

”That’s because Jianghu had only just become an Evolver and wasn’t familiar with his own power. When he saw they had guns, his natural reaction was not to resist,” Ren Yuanyang explained. ”The captain of Dawn Base, on the other hand, clearly became an Evolver much earlier. He has a deep understanding of them. When he sent his team to ’invite’ an Evolver, he would have undoubtedly given them specific instructions!”

Qin Haonan nodded, then frowned. ”So, you’re saying ordinary people have absolutely no chance against an Evolver?”

”Not necessarily,” Ren Yuanyang said, shaking his head. ”You have to maintain distance, keep them from breaking into your ranks, and lay down covering fire. That way, no matter how strong an Evolver is, they can’t charge through a hail of bullets. Not even a Gold-Type Evolver could do it. After all, a person’s Mental Energy is finite! But,” he added, ”if a Gold-Type Evolver’s Mental Energy was powerful enough to stop bullets in their tracks, that would be a different matter entirely. For now, Jin Ziyu can only control other pieces of metal to block them.”

The last time they fought Dawn Base, Jin Ziyu had done just as Ren Yuanyang suggested, controlling small pieces of metal to intercept incoming bullets. So far, the results had been quite good.

Although Jin Ziyu couldn’t stop the bullets cold, as a Gold-Type Evolver, she could sense their trajectories. All she had to do was control a small piece of metal to intercept them, altering their path just enough to protect her target, or herself.

Furthermore, controlling small pieces of metal consumed very little Mental Energy, allowing her to fight for much longer.

It suddenly clicked for Qin Haonan. ”I get it! Once the captain of Dawn Base boarded one of the United Fleet’s main ships, he could threaten all of their captains!”

”He must have used some pretext to approach the United Fleet alone. The fleet, completely unaware of the terrifying power of an Evolver, would have seen him coming by himself and let their guard down,” Ren Yuanyang said with a slight nod. ”That gave him the opening he needed to cut the head off the snake! Once he was among their captains, the subordinates’ hands would be tied. They wouldn’t dare open fire for fear of hitting their own leaders!”

Qin Haonan nodded, the whole picture now clear in his mind. ”And even if they didn’t care about their captains’ lives and dared to shoot, the captain of Dawn Base could have just used others as human shields. He could have single-handedly thrown the entire ship into chaos!”

”Plus, the United Fleet had already been fighting for six or seven hours. Their men were exhausted, and they probably had no will to fight anymore. Surrendering to Dawn Base was likely a decent option for them,” Ren Yuanyang concluded.

”When you put it like that... Evolvers are terrifyingly strong,” Qin Haonan remarked with a sigh.

”Why else do you think I took charge of the Evolution Potion research?” Ren Yuanyang retorted.

Aside from the system’s demand for greater Mental Energy, it was his realization of how powerful Evolvers were that made Ren Yuanyang so desperate to produce the Evolution Potion.

Qin Haonan gave him a thumbs-up, adding a bit of flattery, ”You’ve always been the one with the foresight, Leader!”
