Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 167: Chapter 146: Trusting the Leader, Discovering the Truth (Part 2)

The fact that Peach Blossom Base now had two Evolvers put some pressure on Ren Yuanyang. Although he claimed to be an Evolver himself, he wasn’t one, and the physical difference between him and a true Evolver was still quite obvious.

Ren Yuanyang didn’t know much about Jianghu, who had just arrived. Jin Ziyu, on the other hand, was clearly more energetic and physically stronger than ordinary people. Of course, she also ate a lot more!

Ren Yuanyang had always believed, ’Only by staying ahead in terms of strength can I feel truly secure!’

”I’ll keep an eye on those licorice plants for the next couple of days, then,” Lu Jiamei said with a nod, then turned and left.

Ren Yuanyang took out his phone and found that the regional channel on the mysterious app was buzzing with activity.

He had to scroll up for a long time before he found the video that was causing all the buzz. In it, a massive cruise ship appeared to be on fire, and a single speedboat was being swarmed by many others.

It was footage of the fight between Qin Haonan and the Dawn Base from a little after two o’clock that morning.

Between the darkness and the heavy rain, the video was blurry, but the general situation was still discernible.

”Are you sure that huge cruise ship is the Dawn Base?”

”Of course. I just came on to see if any survivors inside the Dawn Base were brave enough to try and kill their captain!”

”Looks like there really might be some hothead. See? The cruise ship is on fire!”

”Start a fire to cause chaos, then assassinate the captain in the confusion. The strategy is pretty clear-cut!”

”I just wonder if they succeeded!”

”We’ll probably have to wait for the Dawn Base to issue a statement themselves!”

”So what’s the deal with that one speedboat?”

”They probably didn’t succeed. They must’ve stolen a speedboat to escape, which is why they were getting swarmed!”

”No way! If that were the case, that speedboat never would have gotten away!”

”Exactly. Look, the speedboats chasing it are all faster than the one in the lead! If they had just hastily grabbed a boat to escape, they’d have been riddled with holes by now!”

”Yeah, it looks like that swarm of speedboats was attacking for a long time but still couldn’t take down that one boat!”

”Too bad the lighting’s terrible and it’s pouring rain. You can’t see what’s really happening!”

”Is anyone from the Dawn Base going to come on and say something?”

”After a setback like that, the Dawn Base definitely won’t let their people talk carelessly. Besides, with the exception of the Aircraft Carrier Base, every other survivor base probably controls cell phone access. It’s too dangerous to risk exposing your location!”

”That’s a good point!”

Just then, Qin Haonan sent Ren Yuanyang a voice message. ”Bo... Leader, should we explain what happened last night in the regional channel? We could use it to promote our base and take a shot at the Dawn Base at the same time!”

He was so used to calling him ”Boss” that it almost slipped out.

”Am I that old?” Ren Yuanyang retorted with a laugh. ”It’s your call whether you say anything or not. Just don’t reveal any intel about our base.”

”Heh heh, we just changed how I’m supposed to address you, I’m not used to it yet!” Qin Haonan replied. ”This is a rare chance to put the squeeze on the Dawn Base. We can’t let it pass! I’m off to flex on the regional channel!”

A moment later, Qin Haonan posted a message in the regional channel.

”That speedboat you’re all talking about? That’s ours. We just went over to the Dawn Base yesterday to broadcast the mission we posted on the regional channel. We didn’t expect the guys over there to be so supportive—they went ahead and set their own cruise ship on fire! The Dawn Base sent out more than ten speedboats, but they still couldn’t touch us. We even picked up the two guys who started the fire. To reward them, our leader has decided to provide them with three meals a day for life.”

”Holy shit, it was a speedboat from the Peach Blossom Base! How did they find the Dawn Base’s location?”

”Yeah, you think the Dawn Base has spies from Peach Blossom?”

”It’s very possible. But I’m more amazed by the Peach Blossom Base’s power. The Dawn Base sent out that many speedboats and still couldn’t handle a single one from Peach Blossom?”

”You think he’s lying?”

”Why would the Peach Blossom Base lie about something like this?”

”You never know. Some people just love to bullshit!”

Seeing this, Qin Haonan immediately replied, ”I’m not here to argue. Think what you want.”

”I believe the Peach Blossom Base has that kind of power! But I’m more jealous of the two guys who started the fire. All they did was light a match and they got a meal ticket for life. Makes me want to go pull a job at the Dawn Base myself!”

”Yeah, all I get to eat is raw fish every day. I just have to pray I don’t get one with parasites!”

”I want to try my luck at the Dawn Base, too. Hey, the guy who posted the video, or someone from Peach Blossom Base, can you give us the coordinates for the Dawn Base?”

”Of course. I’ll post them right now!” Qin Haonan immediately sent out a set of coordinates.

When the captain of the Dawn Base saw this, he cursed out loud, ”Motherfucker! That Tattooed Haonan from the Peach Blossom Base is shameless!”

”Captain, our position has been exposed. Should we relocate?” his adjutant asked urgently.

The captain’s face was grim. ”We’re low on fuel. We can’t go far even if we move. We might as well wait here. I’d like to see who dares to come! No matter how weak our base has become, we’re not someone these stragglers can mess with!”

The adjutant flinched, then nodded helplessly. He asked with some concern, ”What if teams from other bases show up?”

”Not every base is the Peach Blossom Base,” the captain replied. ”As long as the Aircraft Carrier Base stays out of it, the others are nothing to fear! Have our teams step up patrols. Don’t let the enemy sneak up right under our noses again!”

”Yes, sir!”

”How did the Peach Blossom Base get our coordinates?” the captain wondered, puzzled.

”According to my investigation, once we established our position, cell phone use was put under strict control. The leak shouldn’t have come from a phone,” the adjutant analyzed in a low voice.

”If it wasn’t leaked from a phone, then it must have been a person...” The captain realized instantly. ”It was those bitches on the yacht! Motherfucker! I was taking care of them, and they repay my kindness with betrayal!”

The only vessel from the Dawn Base that had recently left and not returned was the yacht Jin Ziyu had taken.

The captain let out a long breath and asked, ”Has the team searching for that yacht found anything yet?”

”Sir, the team has circled the Seventh-level Wind Sea Region, where the yacht entered, twice. They haven’t found any trace of it,” the adjutant said, shaking his head. ”I speculate they most likely escaped.”

The captain’s brow furrowed. ”That yacht had very little diesel. They should have used most of it up just getting away. Where would they get more fuel to escape the Seventh-level Wind Sea Region?”

The adjutant paused, then frowned. ”Captain, are you suggesting the yacht is still inside the Seventh-level Wind Sea Region?”

The captain’s eyes narrowed. ”During the earlier fight, there was a Gold-Type Evolver on the Peach Blossom Base’s speedboat. The person who hijacked our yacht was also a Gold-Type Evolver. What if... they’re the same person?”

”You mean everyone on that yacht defected to the Peach Blossom Base?” The adjutant found it hard to believe.

But he quickly connected the dots. The yacht entered the Seventh-level Wind Sea Region, then the people on board defected to the Peach Blossom Base, and they never came out again... Doesn’t that mean the Peach Blossom Base is located *inside* the Seventh-level Wind Sea Region?

The adjutant’s eyes went wide. ”How... how is that possible?”

”Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.” The captain felt he was closing in on the answer.

”Is it possible the yacht did manage to leave the Seventh-level Wind Sea Region, and our team just missed it?” The adjutant still found the previous theory improbable.

The captain smiled. ”It doesn’t matter. We just need to leak the Peach Blossom Base’s possible location. Someone will be happy to verify it for us.”

The adjutant paused for a moment, then nodded. ”I understand. Should we leak the information now?”

”Yes, post it right away,” the captain replied.

”Yes, sir!”

At that moment, the regional channel was full of people discussing how they could stir up trouble at the Dawn Base to earn the reward from the Peach Blossom Base. Suddenly, a new message cut through the chatter.

”Greetings, fellow survivors. According to our analysis at the Dawn Base, the Peach Blossom Base is located within this Seventh-level Wind Sea Region. They have lots of fresh fruit and food, but only a single speedboat. You can judge for yourselves which base is the more appealing target.”
