Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 169: Chapter 147: Self-Doubt, It Must Be Wrong

Ren Yuanyang directly called out Dawn Base’s attempt to mislead everyone and reminded them to be careful, which made the vast majority of survivors think much more highly of him.

”That Dawn Base is so sinister! They’re using us as cannon fodder!”

”I’m starting to suspect Dawn Base just made up a random location to divert everyone’s attention.”

”But didn’t Peach Blossom Base admit to being at that location themselves?”

”Dude who posted above, you’re too naive. If Peach Blossom Base had stayed silent or denied it immediately, it might have been true. But now that Taoyuan Yang has so readily admitted it, he’s obviously using reverse psychology. I’d say the info Dawn Base leaked is almost certainly fake.”

”It’s definitely fake. Just think about it, what kind of ship would park in a Seventh-level Wind Sea Region?”

”Yeah, the wind and waves are so strong in a Level 7 region that even the biggest ship would get pushed around. They’d have to burn a ton of fuel to stay in one spot. Even if Peach Blossom Base is rolling in fuel, they wouldn’t waste it like that!”

”Exactly. There are plenty of Second-level Wind Sea Regions where it would be much easier to survive. Are the people at Peach Blossom Base idiots? Why would they choose to stay in rough, stormy waters instead of a calm sea?”

”So it seems Dawn Base really is treacherous!”

Seeing this, Ren Yuanyang immediately posted, ”Maybe our base just likes the feeling of being rocked around! Come and get us, Dawn Base. I’ll be waiting for you right here in the Seventh-level Sea Region!”

”The leader of Peach Blossom Base is such a troll, always saying the opposite of what he means!”

”I’m 100% certain now. Peach Blossom Base is definitely not in that Seventh-level Wind Sea Region!”

”I think I’ll go hang around near Dawn Base instead!”

Seeing the discussion in the channel and Ren Yuanyang’s reply, the captain and aide of Dawn Base began to have second thoughts.

”Captain, it seems it’s true that no vessel can remain stationary in a Seventh-level Wind Sea Region,” the aide said, his brow furrowed. ”Could Peach Blossom Base be in one of the Low-level Wind Sea Regions near this Seven Seasons Wind Sea Region?”

”That must be it. The yacht was probably blown out of the Seventh-level Wind Sea Region and then rescued by a team from Peach Blossom Base!” The captain nodded. ”Have our teams search the nearby waters!”

”But our diesel fuel is limited! The speedboats we send out for searches burn through it incredibly fast!” the aide said with a sense of helplessness.

The captain thought for a moment, then sighed in resignation and ordered, ”Search for one more day. If you don’t find anything, come back!”

’Ever since I ran into that team from Peach Blossom Base, nothing has gone right!’

’That Peach Blossom Base is a real jinx!’

Just as the captain of Dawn Base was at his wit’s end, the matter was also being discussed at the Aircraft Carrier Base.

”What do you two make of the discussion on the regional channel?” Wang Jun asked, looking at the two men on the video call.

”If you ask me, it’s complete bullshit!” Long Zhan was the first to state his opinion. ”Our carrier gets tossed around a fair bit in a Seventh-level Wind Sea Region. I refuse to believe Peach Blossom Base has a vessel larger than an aircraft carrier!”

An aircraft carrier can withstand a high level of wind and waves, but that just guarantees it won’t capsize and can still navigate. It doesn’t mean it’s as steady as a mountain, completely motionless, in those conditions!

This time, Ji Yizhi didn’t play devil’s advocate. Instead, he nodded in agreement. ”I also doubt Peach Blossom Base is in a Seventh-level Wind Sea Region. The conditions there are just too harsh.”

Wang Jun nodded slightly, then frowned. ”I agree it seems impossible, but there’s no reason for Dawn Base to tell a lie that’s so easy to debunk. They must have reached that conclusion based on some piece of intelligence!”

Ji Yizhi nodded, then asked with a smile, ”Old Wang, are you suggesting we send a team to check it out?”

Wang Jun shook his head. ”There’s no need to waste the fuel. I believe that one day, he’ll tell us himself.”

”Any progress on the Evolution Potion from Peach Blossom Base?” Ji Yizhi asked.

”They haven’t given us any substantial feedback since they received the test materials. We’ll have to wait a bit longer,” Wang Jun replied. ”We’re constantly running tests here, too. We’ve nearly used up all the captives from Lvzhi Country, and we still haven’t had a breakthrough!”

”If only we could get our hands on some more of those animals from Lvzhi Country,” Long Zhan mused, rubbing his chin.

Ji Yizhi glanced at him. ”I’d like that too, but there’s no way right now. The carrier fleet consumes too many resources when it moves! We just don’t have the supplies!”

”I really wish they’d just deliver themselves to our doorstep,” Long Zhan said, his face full of anticipation.

”That’s probably not going to happen. We already scared them off when our three fleets came over last time,” Wang Jun said, shaking his head slightly. ”Plus, with the effects of the geomagnetic storm, they’re lacking their high-tech weaponry, so they have even less reason to try anything.”

”I guess we came on a bit too strong,” Long Zhan said with a sigh.

”But wasn’t that our goal? To hit them hard once, make our position clear, and scare them off from ever attacking us again,” Ji Yizhi said.

”That’s true. Anyway, how are the crops coming along on your end?” Long Zhan changed the subject, no longer dwelling on the issue.

”The floating farm plots aren’t doing too well,” Wang Jun said with a slight frown, shaking his head.

Ji Yizhi sighed. ”Same here.”

”Looks like we’ll have to be more frugal with our food supplies,” Long Zhan lamented.

”If we had a lot of Wood-Type Evolvers, maybe we wouldn’t have to worry about food,” Ji Yizhi added. ”Just like Peach Blossom Base!”

”It seems the problem always comes back to the Evolution Potion,” Wang Jun said, shaking his head in resignation. ”Let’s hope Peach Blossom Base can actually make that breakthrough.”

Ji Yizhi nodded. ”Yes. I think we should keep a few of the Lvzhi Country captives alive. If Peach Blossom Base does have a breakthrough, we’ll need them for testing.”

”Okay, I’ll go remind the lab not to use them all up,” Wang Jun agreed. He ended the video call and stood up to head to the laboratory.

In the laboratory at Peach Blossom Base, Hua Lingfang had already stopped his experiments. There was little point in continuing with the current quality of licorice; now, all he could do was wait for the evolved batch.

He got up and walked toward Lin Mu’s area, intending to check on the growth of the licorice.

”Grandpa, I discovered that our Banyan Forest is moving!” Hua Wen exclaimed, rushing over as soon as he saw his grandfather walk out of the lab.

Hua Lingfang paused, taken aback. ”The Banyan Forest is moving?”

Hua Wen nodded and pointed to the map on the unfamiliar app. ”Look, when we first arrived, we were here. Now, we’ve moved over to here. You can barely tell unless you zoom way in!”

A thought struck Hua Lingfang, and he asked again to be sure, ”Are you certain we were at this point when we first arrived?”

”To be precise, we were at this point ever since we got the phone!” Hua Wen said with absolute certainty. ”There’s not much going on in the regional channel, so when I’m bored I like to study the map. I zoom in and out to check our position from time to time.”

”Hmm, this is a very important discovery. Come with me,” Hua Lingfang said, leading Hua Wen toward Ren Yuanyang’s room.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!

There was a knock on Ren Yuanyang’s door.

Having just exhausted his Mental Energy, Ren Yuanyang rubbed his forehead and called out, ”Come in!”

Hua Lingfang pushed the door open and walked inside.

”Ah, Elder Hua. Have you run into another problem with your experiments?” Ren Yuanyang asked with a smile when he saw who it was.

Hua Lingfang immediately shook his head. ”Hua Wen discovered that our Banyan Forest is moving!”

At these words, Ren Yuanyang froze. He then looked past Hua Lingfang at Hua Wen. ”Are you sure?”

Hua Wen nodded. ”I’m sure!”

He then opened the map and reported his findings to Ren Yuanyang in full detail.

Ren Yuanyang studied the map carefully before analyzing the situation. ”It’s been six or seven days since you got the phone, and it’s moved sixty or seventy centimeters on the map. That means it’s moving about ten centimeters per day.”

Hua Lingfang nodded slightly. ”Thankfully, we chose a position in the center of the Seventh-level Wind Sea Region. At this speed, it will take a very long time to reach the edge.”

Although the Seventh-level Wind Sea Region they had chosen was irregularly shaped, Peach Blossom Base was at least two hundred kilometers from its nearest edge.

At ten centimeters a day, it would take two million days to reach the edge. It seemed they didn’t need to worry about the Banyan Forest’s movement at all.

”My only fear is that the speed isn’t constant,” Ren Yuanyang said gravely. ”The issue Hua Wen discovered is critical. We need to assign someone to monitor the Banyan Forest’s movement speed.”
